  • Our first hunt for 2020 started off poorly, a few adjustments to the rifles and we were back in the game to fill the freezer. Azza secures his first fallow buck and we talk about his journey in reloading. Happy 40th you ol'bugger!

    Great video again mate. Well done to Azza. If you don’t mind me asking, Roughly how much did the taxidermist work cost? I’d be interested in it for my first buck when it comes along.

    The videos are just getting better and better. Loved it👌 Great insight into keeping reloading simple and practical. Many hunters/shooters can be scared off by all the technical jargon. Azza is all over it👍 Hunting with good mates, it doesn't get any better than that. Happy birthday AZ. Welcome to the Old Man's Club😂🤣

      Bolt-Action Productions any of you boys got some info on those sub-x’s I noticed on the table? Was thinking of trying to load them for the 30-06 as ‘subsonics’ for foxes etc while stalking but Hornady only have data for the blackout.

    Love your videos, I reloaded for many years while professionally shooting foxes in NE Victoria.
    .17 .22 hornet, .222, .243, 308, .270 and .444, now i find Nosler factory amo is cheaper here in USA, especially when they run specials, and just as good on all game. BUT, i do miss reloading my own.. nothing can replace the feeling of your "own" bullets! Don't assume, i used the big calibers on foxes, big guns were for deer and pigs! Are you happy with your new Sako Bavarian?

      I used a Tikka .17 on foxes, found i had to many misses due the wind at anything beyond 150 meters, depending on the wind! So I switched to .22 Hornet Anschuts rifle using a 40 gr Sierra soft point. None or very little damage to skin apart form entry hole. Still good out to 200 meters with well placed shots. Good luck!

    Hey mate, incredible videos I cant watch them enough. I was just starting to gear up to backpack hunt in NSW state forest and was wondering what the brand and type of backpack you use mate? There is so many types and I'm not sure if its worth buying the fanciest stuff on the market?

    • @IntotheMountains
      @IntotheMountains  4 года назад +1

      Hey Doug! Welcome to the adventure of your life mate!! Backpacking while hard yakka is very rewarding. I use quite a few packs all with different purpose and loads outs. They all have their pros and cons. Your right though, cost is not the determining factor, you can buy smart and save some $. There is a lot of hype and marketing to cut through. As hunters we need a sturdy construction to carry that red gold out. My biggest tip would be go for fit over function. Try as many as you can on with at least 15kg in them

    • @IntotheMountains
      @IntotheMountains  4 года назад +4

      I can’t really think of any bad spots mate, I hunt all over the state on a variety of species. We couldn’t be in a better time for access and opportunity. Just lace the boots up and go and explore. It took me ten years or More to work on a good network of locations. Hours that couldn’t be counted. Everyone starts somewhere. I’d do it all again, it’s been an epic journey. Me telling you spots will only take away from your own experience. Learn along the way bud. There’s no pressure to get results when your starting out

    You don’t need to spend that much to get into reloading, you can start with a little old lee loader (as I did in the early 80’s following in my old mans footsteps). How much you spend is up to you. The most important thing is a set of callipers and a decent set of scales, and old fashioned beam scales are the way to start, not digital.

    • @IntotheMountains
      @IntotheMountains  4 года назад

      Azza did start there Stuart. We are not here to tell anyone what they need to spend. Everybody has their own path. Azz started with the “all you need kit” and soon discovered like most, that’s a very slow process. If you’ve got many hours free to hand weight and trickle good for you. Most of us aren’t that time rich.

      Into the Mountains Hey Daz I didn’t think you were, but I thought you might scare people off thinking about starting if they think they have to sink a couple of grand in just to get started.
