I really like the intro of your videos. And I'd like to believe that you really are some sort of human sized gundam, just relaxing in your apartment and playing retro games on handheld devices.
I always found review vids such as ETA's soothing and relaxing to put on late at night if I can't get to sleep, hearing and seeing his intro in particular really gets me feeling relaxed lol. My inner child absolutely wants him to be a humanoid robot too 😂
I'm leaning towards this over the Pocket Flip because I already own two foldable clamshell Android phones. And my all-time favorite controller is from the SNES and is the reason why I got the SN30 Pro which looks like it. When I buy a handheld, it's all about comfort. PSP and Vita were always more comfortable to me than their Nintendo counterparts. My silver GBA SP gave me the most hand cramps. I don't want it too small or my hands gets cramped but I don't want it too jagged/flat at the sides. The price looks right on that RG353PS too. I don’t want to spend over $100 just to play games from 30 years ago when I can do the same with my smartphones and Vita that I already have. With the RG353PS, it's all about size and comfort at a reasonable price.
I got the RG353P. Wanted the extra RAM for extra headroom. Flashed ROCKNIX to the internal storage. I wanted a handheld for everything below N64 (I use my PC for N64 and above) and this thing works amazing. It’s really comfortable, the screen is crisp, the D-pad is good, and ABXY feels like my 2ds XL. If you have a few extra bucks, the dual boot version is worth it for the extra RAM.
Thanks for the video, I was offered to buy one of these for 90 pounds and a few reviews said everything runs well but I'm glad you mentioned the performance issues. I will wait till the dreamcast gets better performance.
I'm glad that some manufacturers are offering use of multiple sdxc slots. There's only one on the steam deck and it'd be nice to have two to avoid having to change the card.
I've always kind of wondered. What do reveiwers actually do with all the stuff they reveiw, I mean they cant use it ALL regularily. I imagine some of them would probably have a huge warehouse full of tech clutter, unless they sell it all after.
No Android? Not a huge problem. Almost everyone around here most likely has a phone in a drawer with a bigger screen and better specs as well as a controller they could use. As a person who spends too much on electronic toys, I see this as a good thing.
Great review. I’ve just ordered one, my first intro to retro gaming. This seems the sweet spot for me, gets a few more systems in than the RG35XX level systems, has analog sticks, bluetooth, wifi. But not too expensive or complicated. The next system I’d be interested would be PS2 for Gran Turismo 3 A Spec , but since that’s either expensive or some time away this will do nicely. One question, can you load C64/Amiga emulations on this?
the "dot matrix with stereo sound" makes me want this I know it has nothing to do with function but it completes the nostalgic feel and having weird brand names on the front annoys me
What OS/CFW would you recommend putting on this when it arrives in May 2023? Sounds like there’s quite a few options, but it’s unclear to me which is the best for this. Thanks!
what are pros and cons of having no internal storage in this PS version (compared to the original P version). Is it bad that you have to save your games on a micro SD card instead of saving on an internal drive? or it doesn't make a difference?
Hi, ETA, what is your long range observations of the battery life? Does it come close to 6 hours as advertised? I know that N64/PSP/DC etc 3D consoles have significant impact on battery life, but does it get close to let's say2-3 hours when playing the most demanding games ? I am asking because I ordered the low budget RG35XX with much smaller battery, because this would be my first console and Anbernic literally on the next day launched this one for literally like 10 euros more (naughty!) and the RG35XX will probably end up quickly on the local Craigslist.
Im wondering what to chose between 35xx and this 353PS,. Both systems looks good, I want it only for gba, snes and psx, I don't care about psp and dream cast. 35xx it's a liitle bit cheaper, but I'm worried about comfort (353 looks better for adult hands). Can You help me with the choice? Thanks ;)
For a "budget" device I think the powkiddy v90 or A66 for around 40 bucks is a better option. You could buy them both and still have money left over. 😊
I've learned after 30 years of gaming, that if you're gaming on handheld, play handheld games. Playing Pokemon Red/Blue on one of these devices is a blast. Playing Final Fantasy IX sucks.
As a newbie I wonder if I can connect a wireless ps4 controller and use this as a kind of Nintendo switch on tv via a hdmi cable. Any help with this is appreciated! Thanks for this great video!
You can connect a Bluetooth controller to this and play it on the TV. It’s actually pretty great to hook it up. I’ve hooked up multiple 8bitdo controllers to another model that has the same operating system as this one. Played on the TV with no issue. Really cool!
Question, for games that would require touchscreens (ds games) would you recommend the models that do have the touch screen or does thisnone handle it well enough?
No emulation handheld will truly capture what playing a DS is like. Honestly, I would highly recommend you just purchase a second hand one. They're inexpensive, there are plenty of options for replacement shells and screens, and a flashcart is easily attainable.
ey mate, i know than this kind of portable, designed to arcade and console, but what about 8 bits computers, never seen reviews about thats, i had the previous anbernic to play my kids games from spectrum and amstrad, cant enjoy , cause thats emulators cant customize controls, or settings. anyways.... great video, and dont forget us, i mean 8 bits.... the REAL RETRO.

The dpad is far from perfect. Try playing the Celeste port or any game that requires precise cardinal or diagonal direction presses. You can press down and if your thumb puts pressure to one side or the other it registers as a diagonal.
@@QuanLovesGaming what, "any game that requires precise cardinal or diagonal direction presses"? I assume you mean Celeste though. Because I can. Sure the screen is small but you can also play PSP on here and that's workable too.
I've got the anbernic RG552, and have to say the dpad is the same. 😢 I'm sure for fighting games it great but for platform games it becomes quite frustrating, I'm constantly getting accidental diagonal inputs, the slightest away from a straight direction activates a diagonal, so frustrating for platform games. I don't understand how reviewers miss this on Anbernic devices . It's really made me sour on the device and Anbernic.
Ooh, is that 4:3 screen? I approve, only the lynx and a handful of arcade games really benefit pre psp on widescreen. I like the gameboy colours too. I'll stick with my analogue but I appreciate the effort. Sadly the battery lets it down, but that's standard sadly.
retroid pocket 3+ cost the same as switch lite in my country, but tbf for switch lite you need to buy games in order to play while emulator handhelds you just emulate older games so it still technically cheaper and if you don't care about switch games, it probably still good choice to go with these handhelds.
