  • The Comanche is a solid, predictable, easy flying airplane ... except when it comes to a squeaker landing.
The laminar flow wing which gives the Comanche it's cruise performance doesn't mush - it fully stalls once you lose flying speed. It's also set very low on the plane and deep in ground effect for floating if you have excess airspeed. The 1000lb useful load on the Comanche means the 'right' airspeed is quite a bit different fully loaded vs solo after a long trip. Add a full size nose wheel for nice soft field capability but less clearance for the trifecta.
Landing back home the starts aligned on this one and I've struggled to even hear the tires chirp on touchdown. If only I could do this every time!
