    Nice video Pete! Wow that air pressure really is low, ideal first time spryer if you could get it in this country, I bet you can learn a lot from that! Lovely colour purple as well. Your right about the emissions I have watched a few car channels from the US and it’s one thing that gets mentioned a lot. Cheers Pete. See you the next one.

    Pete thanks for having the most in depth review of this gun thus far, I owned it for the better part of a month and heres my verdict. For starters I'm from America and I know many from here are wondering how it holds up to the original lph400 and in my experience your best off buying that; the wider 4L is literally an lph400 with the LV4 aircap at a cheaper price with the pattern length, fluid consumption, and atomizing pressure all being the same only difference is the gun body and there are less threads for the air cap meaning previous caps will not fit although the fluid nozzles/needle will. the lvx equivalent is available only in russia as the kiwami4L and there is no LVB equivalent available, further more iwata USA does not carry the wider or kiwami series.

    • @peteshobbies5383

      Hi James, thanks for you words, it will help others that read this.
      The Wider and Kiwami 4 series are only available in Japan at the moment so I'm not sure when they will make it elsewhere, just to say, the tips are interchangeable but the needle isn't, the Wider4L and Kiwami4 needle is shorter.
      I'm sure there will be more variations of cap available later as the models develop but we will see, cheers 👍

      @@peteshobbies5383 forgot to add this, the lph400 lv4 air cap and the wider 4L VJ2 cap actually make the gun more of a MVLP. In regards to your fluid needle comment the wider and kiwami4 use the exact same one for 1.3 and 1.4 fluid nozzle

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  2 года назад +1

      Hi James, the volume of material put out is certainly low so you could be right, it's just advertised as HVLP.
      My comment re the needle was referring to the Wider4 and Kiwami4 needle being shorter than the LPH400 and W400 and indeed the original WS and LS400 for that matter as the latter 4 all share the same needle.
      Iwata have keeped the same idea with the Wider4 series and Kiwami4 in that 1.3, 1.4 and 1.6 all have the same needle but as i say, it's shorter than LPH400/W400

    Hello Pete
    I see a lot of people are saying that the LPH400 (WIDER4L) is slow , but the trigger man (another RUclips channel) says that it’s a pretty fast gun🤔it might be the way of the painting technique? Might be spraying pretty close to the panel ? Thanks for the great video always! 👌🏻

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  Год назад +1

      Hi buddy, I guess it depends on what you are comparing it to, but generally, the LPH400/Wider4L series is quite slow as they don't put out that much material.
      It will, of course, depend on the pressure you spray at. The LPH400 is generally designed to be used at low pressure, normally 16psi, and it can perform well at that pressure.
      If, and I know many people do, you run it around 26 to 27 psi for clear coat, it will be faster as it will draw more fluid through, even at that pressure they aren't particularly fast compared to the standard W400 Bellaria with the same size tip which is the logical thing to compare it to really

    Thank you pete nobody is covering the wider4L gun like you have here. I'm noticing the split to your pattern isn't there like with my w400 bellaria and LPH400 and you're running it full fan thats good to see because with my iwatas I turn in my fan one full turn sometimes two turns in to accommodate for the weird splitting going on.
    Iwata is making new supernovas and they mentioned they fixed the splitting problem. I can't wait to see what else they have in store

      Thanks buddy, I've never used the LPH400 but i do use full fan on my Bellaria without problems, I do have to back the fan off on the WS400 and LS400 as most do to stop, as you say, the pattern splitting.

    • @bosshawg7427
      @bosshawg7427 Год назад +2

      I'm wondering if the split you're not seeing in his pattern could be due to not running the gun far upwards of the suggested pressure. Hardly anyone that claims to use the LPH400 sprays at the pressure stated on the cap unless it's the LVB, possibly due to trying to apeed the gun up, I suppose . I find it odd that Pete is spraying at 16 (1.1 bar), and it is atomizing just fine.

    • @kr2513
      @kr2513 Год назад +1

      @@bosshawg7427 About 8 months ago after watching the “society of paint” video regarding the fan settings, I did get my pattern to stop splitting thankfully.
      You basically depress the trigger and slowly close the fan, from open and as soon as it affects the pressure you have the most concentrated fan

    • @peteshobbies5383
      @peteshobbies5383  Год назад

      @kr2513 I now have an orange cap LPH400 and have no trouble with the fan splitting.
      Normally, a fan will split if the pressure is too high for the viscosity of the material to be sprayed.
      People often try a gun with just thinners in it, which is fine but it won't perform correctly at a higher pressure.
      There should be no need to turn the fan in on these certainly up to 26 psi with correctly thinned basecoat and 32 psi with HS or UHS clears, the only gun you may have to do this with is the WS400 series 1 clear coat gun

    Nice vid Pete. For most Base coats the LPH400 air cap of choice is the LVX and the LVB for those difficult colours out there. The Wider 4L is available in the LVX set up but only in the Russian market that I’ve been able to locate. I’ve not even found it for sale in LVX configuration in either Japan or the USA. Also I’ve not seen the Wider LVX air cap sold separately yet and I don’t believe that they have released a LVB cap either. I agree it is a very good gun but fluid delivery is low and so the speed of the gun is matched to this but as you say there is very little overspray. Still it is well worth it and in fact Brian from the Paint Society rated it as his most favourite gun out there which is high praise indeed. I was once told by iwata uk that the reason the gun was not imported into the UK was because of differences in paint specs used here. Read into that what you will. All I can say is that I’ve never had any issues myself. Looking forward to the next vid. Keep em coming

      Hi George, I've been using 7 different clears lately to experiment with and yes, the more expensive clears can give a flatter finish, the main reason for this is they flow out easier so are imo more forgiving and don't suffer from sags and runs as much.
      If your in the UK i would recommend the Multi Mix2 HS clear, i get along with the Upol 2080 very well but it isn't as easy to get a good finish, it's likes to be put on relatively heavy as it doesn't flow as well, once your used to this it's fine and I've been using it for years, also it's best to warm the clear up first as it helps it flow

Simple. Also do not use a cheater valve at the gun regulate pressure at the wall meaning set the cheater valve (you know the air regulator at the gun people use) set that to wide open and then with trigger fully pulled set air pressure at the wall to desired and then remove the regulator at the gun do not use quick disconnect attach the gun to the air hose and combined with the porting of the air fitting at the gun your lph400 should be close to twice as fast.
