I left the Chicago Area in 2005, and the last time I was in Woodfield was 2003... I see much has changed since back then, and I am surprised the place is still quite full, especially during a time when other malls in the nation (Quite a few even larger than Woodfield, such as Pittsburgh's old Century 3, which is about twice the size of Oakbrook Centre) are now completely abandoned, vandalized, and have totally fallen into decay!
The beauty and architecture of this mall puts to shame our harsh, rigid, square, and unimaginative mall here in Georgia called Mall of Georgia. Woodfield mall is truly a thing of beauty. I’m jealous.
Last time I was at Woodfield was in October of 2022. Maybe I’m just overthinking it, maybe I’m just convinced that all malls are gonna fail one day, idk. But the last time I was in there, I saw more closed and boarded up storefronts in woodfield than I’d ever seen before, and I’ve been to woodfield many, many times growing up. Again, maybe (and hopefully) I’m dead wrong, but generally having more than 2 or 3 closed/boarded up store fronts in a mall is not a good sign.
Great work as usual my friend! I first went to this mall as a kid in the early 90s and was in awe at its size...it just went on and on forever....even though its had some major renovations in the past 30 years I can still see some of the original details here and there. This place is always busy.
Where the Armani Exchange store is was where the original Mall cut off and Lord and Taylor was right there as the anchor before they expanded the hallway in the mid-90s. Also John's Garage used to be where Armani Exchange was and they had very good food
Great video! I went to Woodfield Mall a couple of times and really liked it. I have not been there since the food court addition. I wonder if Dillard's would ever consider going where Lord & Taylor was?
Yes you are correct. I thought I heard that the other way around that Oakbrook was somehow bigger. But I think last time I saw the Oakbrook number they have since lost some retail space
I wonder if that Macy's was formerly Marshall Fields? The arches outside the store's entrance are very reminiscent of the former Marshall Fields at the Cherryvale Mall, which is now a Macy's as well. I miss Grand Avenue Mall in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Kay-Bee Toys, The Puzzle Box, New York Style Pizza Express, & The Boston Store just to name a few of my former haunts. At Christmas Time, there was a robotic bear, which rode a unicycle across a high wire, at Center Court. It even had a balancing stick, complete with beer steins at either end of the stick, as a 'tip of the hat' to the town of breweries. Good Memories! Thanks for sharing. :)
It's a relief to see that Woodfield is still thriving. Watching this is like looking back in time into the 1980's.
Love this place
Nice tour! Really glad to see this place doing well. Lots of traffic, low vacancy rate, everything looks nice and bright and clean

I miss the water fountain 😢
A beautiful successful mall even with 3 anchor stores, and 2 closed
I guess there are already plans for the Sears anchor. Lord and Taylor I haven't heard anything yet

Woodfield staying healthy beyond the end of time at this point
Streets of Woodfield on the other hand is def having some struggles as of late
Eventually...soon....there will be 3 successful large malls in the Chicago metro area .. Woodfield, Oakbrook and Old Orchard

The best thriving mall in Illinois
my favorite mall in Illinois. cool to see it in a video
Good video. Thanks.
Glad you liked it!
That’s my favorite mall
Can you do a tour of half price books in Schaumburg and in Bloomingdale Illinois
Wanted to make one correction, woodfield is the biggest mall and oakbrook is the second biggest.

U get the whole mall but miss our store 😢

Yes that was a Marshall Fields.
Woodfield is the largest mall in the area not Oakbrook
Definitely a thriving mall.
I bet less than 50% of the shoppers speak English in that mall.
Thank God namdar didn't buy this mall.
