I love Stratford Square Mall! I hate to see it go like this. I’ve grown up around this mall and I remember visiting it all the time when I was a kid. I will cry when I hear this mall is closing. 😢😢😭
Honestly, this place has been so depressing ever since Round1 closed. After Round1 closed, Cinemark was the only thing keeping me coming back, and then we lost that too in January 2021. On a semi-hopeful note, the village of Bloomingdale recently bought the mall from Namdar Realty in an attempt to revitalize it and are having a meeting about it on the 26th of this month. I’m absolutely going to attend and see if there’s any chance at all of Round1 and/or Cinemark coming back.
Wow, looks like the mall was still doing ok 4 years ago. Things went downhill fast once Covid hit. It just closed permanently last weekend, except for Kohl’s.
I pretty much grew up with this mall. I worked at the old movie theater before they rebuilt the new one I was also the photographer for the Easter Bunny here.
Yeah. It even worse with the theater closed now and round one. Thank you very much for subbing. I'm sure that you are going to have wonderful insight on these videos
I have seen Stratford mall and the whole Stratford mall deteriorating over the course of a few years. The mall has been losing an anchor every year since 2017 with Macy’s and in 2019 with sears so the mall is on a bad track. I still frequently visit and shop at the mall but is a dying shell of its former self
Yeah. In the 90s there were 6 anchors. I still love the wood aesthetic of it. The theater seems to be keeping this mall going, but there are dead sections.
Seems the middle part is the busiest section of the mall, but towards Carson's and burlington it dies off. There needs to be something down that way to draw shoppers to that end. I think this will survive, but they can't afford to lose more.
@@mallaholicretailadventures Yea, I feel like Kohl's will stick around for a little bit as they're doing pretty decent here but I do think Burlington will probably leave in a year or two because the condition of that anchor is deteriorating and they don't even use the 2nd floor anymore, I feel like they will relocate to one of the nearby Strip Malls on either Army Trail Road or Gary Avenue
I love the design of this mall it is aesthetically pleasing and I would really hate to see this mall close, I hope the new woodman's saves the mall. My childhood memories are all over this mall and I remember being a 90's kid and seeing how packed this mall used to be! Thank you for the video! I have subscribed
Sad what has happened to Macy's, JCPenney, Carson's and Sears. Carson's was supposed to come back but I guess it never did. All the rich people in Bloomingdale are probably all Amazon Prime members and don't shop in brick and mortar stores anymore. They probably see Stratford as an eyesore now and want it out.
@@mallaholicretailadventures I remember seeing Stratford in it's hey day as a little kid in 1990. It used to be a high-end mall, it was like a smaller Woodfield. And in the 2000s it was one of the last malls to have both a Gamestop and Electronic Boutique (closed in 2009 I think).
I had heard about Woodmans coming in, but didn't know Macy's would be torn down for it. That rest area looks like IKEA outlet. Not too inviting. Yorktown would also be competitive, but not on the same scale as Woodfield. I used to live near here...miss it.
Are you kidding me? If ANYONE like me, grew up in the late 80’s early 90’s will know that this mall is an absolute disaster. Since the economy crash in ‘08 and you can make an argument a little before then, that was the beginning of the end. I know woodman’s is coming in, but do Bloomingdale a favor and demolish this “mall.”
It’s crazy watching this 3 years later and seeing how things have changed. Went walking in the mall today and, geeez, it’s basically deserted.
Great video! Iam so happy to have these memories, I loved this mall 😢❤
It died unfortunately. It closed permanently on April 21, 2024 😢
The waterfall fountains they had back in the 90s were awesome.
My childhood/teenage mall 🥺. LOL, my husband's first job was at the Montgomery Wards in that mall too. We visited this summer for the memories 💕

Sad it’s gone. My dad and I had fun owning the Cigar Emporium store here for 11 years. Still in disbelief. Nice video of the place!

Very sad it was good mall. I used worked JCPenney at Stratford Square long time ago. The store was very nice.
The mall is starting to look very sad now. Good video. Keep up the good work.

That intro lol
Idk how much life this mall has left

A lot has changed since this video. Many of the stores featured have left the mall, some are leaving soon.
Stay tuned in the next hour, there is a new video taped Christmas Eve. It's uploading.

Thank you very much for watching. This would have to be a top 5 mall in the Chicago area as far as my favorite. The wood. The skylights.
Great video
i saw the famous singer Melanie Martinez here :O best day of my life
i love you and i love all of your videos you rock

Such a shame too. I see more of those vans everyday. Strattford is such a nice mall too.
