  • We finally bought a diesel! We picked up this 2003 Ford F350 Powerstroke Turbo Diesel king ranch at salvage auction for a bargain of a price! Only has 144k miles and also has some nice mods. There is some slight damage we will have to rebuild, but that shouldn't take much. We can't wait to get modding this truck with a full straight piped exhaust or bulletproofing the engine (EGR, Oil cooler, head studs, etc.)

U should bulletproof it, put newer tow mirrors, get a tune, a loud exhaust, and put big off-road tires and lift it a little.

RamZee 28 yes I agree with you. We just bullet proofed our Lariat f350 6.0. Flawless performance and stalk engines are not reliable. They had a problem with there engines back then where they would over heat and blow up. Take the suggestions and bullet proof it. You will get about 500,000 miles on it if you do it

You need bulletproofing. Or at least ARP Headstuds EGR Delete and exhaust. I recommend SCT Livewire for tuning/monitoring. These are just few things I’ve done to mine definitely a beast. I love my 6.0 and wouldn’t trade it for the world! Treat it right and it’ll treat you right

Welcome to the Powerstroke Family buddy! Any question please feel free to ask!! Bulletproofing is a MUST if you plan on making more power than stock. But for better drive ability, 4 inch Turbo back exhaust, S&B sealed cold air intake. But again, if you have any questions please let me know man!!!!

@@darends2179 They have the money todo the work, and the 6.0 interior is nicer, I think they got the 03?? with the leaf spring front end so that's the same as a 7.3 I guess. But typically 6.0s have coil front ends which are a nice upgrade and allow for bigger tire clearance.

    • @NaturalFondi

Most 6.0s are money pits I love all Diesel engines but I’d still pick Cummins because you know it’s a good engine when semis and tractors use them

    • @deereman8237
      @deereman8237 5 лет назад +2

The only issue with a Cummins pickup (assuming you mean Dodge and not Nissan) is the weak Automatic transmissions. The 68 rfe isn’t horrible, but still isn’t the best. If they got a Cummins, they needed to find one with the g56 manual transmission.

I have put less money in my 04 than it would cost to replace a turbo on any new diesel. Matter of fact it's been extremely cheap to own. If you don't want to maintain a modern diesel properly buy a 7.3 or a 5.9B otherwise ALL modern diesels are going to cost you big. I am still running stock headbolts to.

My reccomendations: stud the engine, arp studs and oem gaskets, update the front clip to the 05-7, paint match grille and bumper. Get a tuner/ moniter to watch your egts and a light tune if desired. Go through a thurough inspection and catch up on any and all neglected maintenance.

  • @spenceroster4290

Egr delete head studs head gaskets before anything after that get a tuner preferably live link will show you all the gauges that you are gonna need like egt, boost, oil temp, ect once you have a tuner with the live gauges wait till the oil temp is around 120 degrees before really driving just to give it time to start warming up and circulate. Also a good suggestion a mbrp exhaust system turbo back 4 inch not too loud but will give you that 6.0 scream

I bought a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7 Magnum V8 4x4 about a year and a half ago, with 250,000 miles on it. It now has over 325,000 and I bought it from the original owner, so I know the drivetrain is all original. Very reliable! Didn’t have a problem in -9 degree weather at all for the past 2 weeks. Paid for itself in the first month of ownership. Going to keep it till the body rots off of it!

Should’ve bought a Ford 6.7- Although I still love the 6.0👍🏼Best sounding Powerstroke- I’d do studs, egr delete, coolant filter, exhaust and an intake. Undoubtedly a great truck when they’re properly taken care of- If you bought a 6.7 a simple delete would make the truck very impressive compared to a already powerful stock motor- I personally love my 2015 6.7 😎its the balls.

Hey guys. I own a 2003 6.0 and I absolutely love it. Never given me trouble but the key is maintenance. I run schaffers oil which is the best oil you can get. If that truck is tuned by an edge tuner you will blow head gaskets if it's not studded. Edge tunes are junk. Although the edge insight monitor is awesome I run one in my pickup to watch vital temps and such the first thing I would do is buy a edge insight cts2 to keep an eye on temps and other important parematers. Egr delete and make sure your coolant and oil temp stay within 15 degrees of each other. Also I would check to make sure that tune is off because stock 6.0s are not fast at all

I have a 2004 6.0 and it’s deleted with a 5 inch turbo back exhaust. headstuds and head gaskets are expensive. Personally I would do head gaskets and headstuds if you plan on getting it tuned for heavy towing or racing. But deleting it is a must because having the egr cooler makes the engine run hotter and there is no need for that.

  • @gannonfamily2000

Identical to my boss's truck, except his is an 06 lariat that's been straight piped. It sounds freaking amazing! It's bone stock, but I beat a turbo'd Civic with it! Watch the stock turbo and fuel pump, and also the injector control module.
Since yours is an 03 you'll want to get head studs. You'll want to delete the EGR as well. SCT tuners are the best for 6 liters, but if it already has an edge tuner, that'll be more than adequate for what you'll use it for. By the way, excellent choice, and totally a steal of a deal! Don't listen to the haters...

The 6.0 is a very finicky engine that cap was most likely from a napa and works with there filter only. If you don’t use the motorcraft filter and cap it will not open the drain back valve properly and lead to other issues down the road

6.0 was a great choice. If your planning on doing any sort of power upgrades, you 100% have to bulletproof it. Bulletproofing the 6.0 means EGR delete, newer upgraded headgaskets and ARP headstuds, straightpipe from the turbo back, and possibly change the oil cooler. Once this is done, any upgrades you wanna do with tuning, injectors, or even a new turbo, the truck will be able to handle it no problem. Message me if you have any questions! I’ve got a lot of experience working on diesels and especially 6.0 Fords when it comes to upgrades.

The 04 had egr delete arp headstuds cold air Intake and blustery spring. It was a good truck so good I fact someone stole it. So then I got an 05 it has coolant bypass filter oil bypass filter banks six gun tuner. Exhaust is 4 inch custom turbo back with high flow Muffler. It has the egr as emission visual it is a must. I found out that the stock air box is good to 700 hp so no need for a cold air intake. And yes the blue spring is a must do. When it is time for oil cooler I will get the remote mount oil cooler from IPR or perhaps bpd. Anyway that is my thoughts you have a nice truck I look forward to see what you do with it. Oh and for Christ sake don’t lower it or put goof ass stance wheels with spacer you would just looking for trouble.

21:22 The tune can’t be on it he probably had a monitor on the truck and he took it before he sold it I know a lot about 6.0s and well I am a ford guy bulletproof it get the bulletproof diesel oil cooler it’s the best thing to do and straight pipes it and arp headstuds and probably a cold air intake because stock is always garbage lol 😂

Don't install a cold air intake; wast of money. The stock Donaldson air filter can flow air up to 600hp and hold 5lbs of dirt.

Juan macias hey I’m 15 trying to buy a ford truck I don’t have a lot of money it’s between 6.0,7.3,6.4 what should I get I want 7.3 because people say it’s reliable but idk it’s hard to find those near me

  • @WR0LB

EGR delete, you don’t need it. It also improves MPG or can. It’s a waste of money to get a bulletproof cooler. ARP head studs because if you’re not careful with the tune on the truck it can lift a head easily. MBRP turbo back exhaust “straight pipe” 3inch or 4inch down pipe to 5” straight. Maybe new intercooler definitely. New cold air intake and filter. I’d go with a three stage tune. A economy, towing and hot tune. As far as wheels and tires, almost any -42 offset wheel will look good and some Nitto 420 tires. Everyone does black. Chrome would look fire especially with the color way of the truck. I’ve worked on 6.0’s and me and my buddy fully built one as race/drag truck. I have pictures and videos. The sound is uncanny.

I had a f350 dually with 230,000 miles on it with all factory parts. It started to leak oil but I got rid of it cause I couldn’t afford the repair at the time.

You should straight pipe it 5" exhaust, with a fat chrome tip. Then do a K,&N Cold Air Intake. I did that to my old F-250, and it sounded like a jet engine! I also did custom grill & lights all the way around! Bad Ass,!

My opinion, before spending money on any upgrades, fix the body damage. I can't stand seeing modified vehicles with body damage. It's a clean truck, it deserves a straight body.

get a new fuel system and injectors first with cat filters for oil and fuel so that engine runs better and then new led head lights and tail lights. then fully bullet proof. I agree with a tune. air and intake is good with the new exhaust 5 inch stacks not a dump so that the engine can run and breath better. but still get the fuel system first.

Hey man I have an 06 king ranch with the 6.0. The truck is also a king ranch trim. They are great trucks but I do recommend the egr delete. A family friend runs a fence company and runs a fleet of 6.0s. All of them have over 200k on them and he has the delete done on all of them

People calling the 6.0 a “bad motor” it’s actually a great motor, high compression, high boost motor? Fuck yea but that’s where there issue is, they need head studs and really good head gaskets and a few things to help keep the egts down and it would out last my 7.3 and they put tow the 7.3

keep archoil in the engine oil.. it helps with stiction with the injectors its a problem in those trucks and you def want to bullet proof it. from 03 there 1st year to 07 there was over 300 design changes .03 was a rough year

I would do a 4in turbo back exhaust, bulletproof (egr delete, head studs, etc) and leave it at stock height for towing reasons with some 20x12 wheels wrapped in some nitto 420’s. It makes for a simple clean look. I would also add the 05-07 f250 bumper and grill, it already has the headlights from the 05-07 trucks, then top it all off with some 08+ tow mirrors

  • @johnmac4769
    @johnmac4769 5 лет назад

If its not bulletproofed do that but If you are going to be towing with it I don't think you should over tune it. A nice tune for more torque would be great for towing. I tow with a 6.7 powerstroke completely stock. No problems towing across the country, Alabama to Calif and back. Nice truck.

I got 6.0l if u don’t have emotion regulation then delete the EGR cooler also do the oil cooler from bulletproof and the water pump. Also check the ficm or get one from bulletproof. Also on the late model change the seals on the high pressure oil pump because they fail on the early models or update it. Other than that really excited for you.

I love revving my f-250 next to a Prius so they can hear me hurt the environment. Lift it 6" put some 38's on it with 20x12"'s. Then put an all black bull-bar on the front to move the Priuses out of your way while you haul your Ferrari. The Georgia way
