  • In this video we do a compression test on the Mk5 2.0T Jetta Wolfsburg after re-building the engine. We rebuilt the engine after a 3rd to 2nd gear mis-shift (rebuild video coming soon). We already have 1000 km's on the rebuilt engine, so it's time to check out how healthy it's running. We have no fluid loss or oil consumption issues to report, so it looks like the rebuild was successful. Enjoy the video! Please like, share, and subscribe :)

      That's a great question. Once the fuel injectors are unplugged, I think that's a great idea to ensure enough air gets in there. Maybe compare the results with the throttle closed, and the throttle open.

    Curious can’t you just pull the fuse for the fuel pump?

    • @WannabeTuners
      @WannabeTuners  3 месяца назад

      If I recall correctly, it would skew the readings as the fuel injectors would still open causing a path for cylinder pressure to escape

    Hello chaps from England! Good fun channel and I have a 2009 TSI in a Skoda Octavia MK2 which I found your channel after my intake balance shaft took a dump on track. Also been doing all the work on my drive in the same way you work on the Jetta. Decided to get a k04 hybrid now which is sat in a box ready to go on in a week or so. I'll blame you guys for that 🤣

    My 10 year old TSI has 135-150 psi... with the injectors plugged in and cold. Do you reckon it will go up with the fuel injectors disconnected and engine hotter?

    • @WannabeTuners
      @WannabeTuners  2 года назад +1

      It should definitely go up with the engine hot, and the injectors shouldn't be spraying when doing a compression test, so definitely have them unplugged. Also with them plugged in, we're thinking that air pressure can potentially leak into the fuel circuit through the injector nozzles when they open.

    Hi, can you help me ?
    My compression is cylinder 1,2,4 - 200psi . cylinder 3 - 160psi ..
    after spark plug explode at 120mph
    same ea888 2.0 tsi (CCZ engine)
    do you think i need to build the engine ?

    • @WannabeTuners
      @WannabeTuners  4 года назад

      Check out our Leak Down Test video here: ( ruclips.net/video/An59jjeSJt0/видео.html ) It's possible that broken spark plug fragments might have damaged the engine causing a loss of compression somewhere in that cylinder. Doing a Leak Down Test will allow you to determine what part of the engine is leaking compression. Hope that helps! Let us know what you find :)

      @@WannabeTuners was this Jetta stage 2 before you guys went k04? If so how does it compare?

    • @WannabeTuners
      @WannabeTuners  5 лет назад

      @@westmountainmotorsports yup! It was eurodyne stage 2 for a while. The lag between the k03 and K04 is not that noticeable, it spools quick. There is a stronger punch in the midrange and top end but it dies down near redline. Needs more flow! Should have gone with a gtx2871r or bigger after stage 2, but that's where it gets expensive lol.

  • @jaxel7691
    @jaxel7691 4 года назад +2

    Maybe this is a dumb question, but...
    Rather than messing with that connector, why not just pull the fuse for the fuel pump?

    • @WannabeTuners
      @WannabeTuners  4 года назад +2

      Yeah we tried that, but doing it that way allows the injectors to open during the compression test which allows pressure inside the cylinders to vent into the injector nozzles causing low compression readings. We looked up the workshop procedure, which outlines that the fuel injector connector needs to be disconnected.
