I am borderline translucent so I got some weird looks back when I bought the original spf 30 BGS because the assumption was that only darker skin would want to buy it. It was literally the product that got me into the habit of wearing sunscreen everyday because it didn't feel weird on my skin. I'm so stoked to see they've grown the product line in the few years since I finished my tube because it was genuinely awesome.
I find it better than the black tube. Higher SPF and I think more moisturizing. I’m combo and either one makes it easy to skip another moisturizer under and makes the dryness I get in my forehead feel under control.
@@megleland6320 it’s literally EXACTLY like a clear gloss. Slightly sticky but in the best way. I stays nice and glossy for hours and had zero taste or smell. My mind is blown that it’s actually a sunscreen. I have never seen it in store, but I order four at a time from Ulta.
Been a user of the 50 spf all this summer. It pairs wonderfully with vitamin c serum and is incredibly softening on its own, without layering. I just bought the 30 spf and will be wearing it when it cools down to keep my skin from drying out from the cold. So far liking this brand alot.
@@jennalud4748 not sure if it’s suitable for all skin types, but I use it for my face when I’m at home and for body at home and outside. So, at the least it’s a great body sunscreen.
You’re so human and authentic and that’s what we like about you 😎Just breathe deeper when anxious and keep going. You’re amazing and your content is A1.
I bought the matte spf without realising it was matte so I was suriprised by the transparent product but I'm not mad about it. Mine wasn't goopy or runny until it was in my bag for a few days in varying summer tempuratures. I'm personally not a fan of the matte texture but that's just my skin and my preferences, I love the way shiny sunscreen makes me glow!
No girl. You don't TELL people what to do. I've learned a lot from you and tried some of the products you recommended (the stuff my chemo budget can afford) some work some don't. As a chemo patient my skin is extremely sensitive and I use neutrogena (gentle cleanser and hydro boost) even though you don't like it but I also know WHY you don't like it lol. You've always said if it works for you and you love it that's all that matters 💯 🥰
Just watching this video now, and as always I learn so much from you and this time I learned alot about YOU today Cassandra! Thanks for being real and taking us with you on your LA trip
I love how you explained that, how you speak your mind is important. People now a days are so socially weak and immature, you cant say anything without offending anyone. This is why i love your channel, no BS. + i put sunscreen on becuase of you, thank you! I use coppertone sensitive spf 50 with light tint. Ot fits my budget
9:25 I love that you kept this rant. 😂 I love you. I respect your opinion, but I’m definitely a fan that’s going to do what’s good for my personal skin. But still respect you and your insight. I hope that lightens the load a bit.
Hi Cass, I haven’t tried any of these but I have tried the kids version and it immediately made my skin itchy so not something I can use personally 😬 but I’ve heard from a lot of people that it’s great :)
I'm oily. I prefer the matte and kids formula. The original makes me look like a greasy brown ghost with a gray sheen. I'm medium brown and also like the versed tinted sunscreen in colder months.
I used the spf30 on my arms and was surprised by how shiny it made my arms look! The sheen stayed ALL day. I understand that other people will really like that; it was just wasn’t my thing. I didn’t even try it on my face after that, because while my body skin is normal, my face if very oily.
I am trying the black girl sunscreen spray for my arms as I am a teacher, and I am outside about 3 hours a day in california summer. it does cover me for a few hours, but I had to get used to the texture.
@@taintedlife2618 there is a 6 ounce spray but I purchased the new 6 ounce tube at Walmart. I also just checked their socials and this jumbo size is ONLY available at Walmart.
I wasn’t a fan of the Make it Matte at all, but I also don’t care for those silicone textured skincare products anyway, be it sunscreen, primers, etc. by the end of the day my very oily eyelids had the sunscreen running into my eyes and burning. I LOVED the original for my body but not for my (very) face (too oily looking). But I repurchased for my body! I do wish they had the exact same formula but a higher SPF
Have you seen those little indicator stickers that you can put on your skin and then cover with sunscreen and they will turn color when it's time to reapply?
was about to buy the make it matte but it says it's "infused" with shea butter and coconut oil which are big no no's for acne prone and my seb derm skin
Unfortunately this SPF still has cancer causing ingredients that co.’s were advised to take out of their sunscreens. Great video, as is the sunscreen detecting mirror.
Although I do appreciate the time you took to film this video and the effort you put in it, I truly don't understand the point of it. I mean, it's so nice to see a spotlight on the topic of sunscreen for POC, yet I don't understand what new you can bring to the table. Of course that doesn't mean you can't use or review the product. It was already mentioned in the video that there are 2 main "problems"/concerns: oily VS matte finish and people, who used one/both versions seems to be split it terms of liking it VS needing and wanting a formula change... so following that logic it's natural for you to end up in one of these categories. Your personal experience if valid, but in general it's just "another opinion". So what if it was oily or matte on you? It only goes to show that "it works for some" and "not for others", which underlines how strictly individual it is and how at the end of the day is personal preference. Your commentary- the final thoughts portion, imo was so rushed, it didn't go in debt and there was no new knowledge presented. What was the point then? This made me feel weird, like it was just a random vlog on top of the fact that there was more "unnecessary commentary on random topics and just plain filler" rather than more frequent "check-ups and updates on your experience and thoughts". Really disappointed with the video. I admit that I might of missed or misunderstood something and if I did anybody can feel free to correct me. I'm just expressing my opinion and not attacking. Everyone is free to like what they want.

I use the SPF 50 for kids! Literally my all time favorite sunscreen. It’s SO good on my dry skin. Literally leaves me glowing
I’m glad it works for you :) My skin immediately felt itchy once I applied so I had to quickly wash it off, and I passed it down to someone else.

Omg. I’m dry af! Will try ❤
My skin gets so oily using that one. I just ordered the matte one and am hoping this will work.
I know you didn’t address it here, but my favorite Black Girl Sunscreen product is their lip gloss! If y’all haven’t tried it, DO ITTTTTT!
Love it, favorite SPF lip product
And it's affordable. It's a staple in my skin routine now.

This was very fun to watch! Thanks for tagging us along, Cassandra, and thanks for always keeping it real!
I clicked on this so fast so excited hear your insights♥️♥️♥️
10:17 it’s me!!! 😂 So honored my story clip got featured hahaha it was so good to reunite with you Cassandra!! 💖
I love you, Cassandra. Thank you for being our skin big sister :)

I am getting this mirror immediately
Yeah
I haven’t tried this one but the baby one from this brand is a holy grail
Oh yeah, is it good for oily acne prone skin?

I've only used their kids sunscreen and I love it. I'm tempted to buy their matte version.

Okay hold on. I'm 5 minutes in and you're just going to breeze by this uv mirror like nothing?! I need a video on products like these!
They are all over Amazon, eBay, temu, Alibaba, etc. I have one and I love it.

My favorite sunscreen is Black Girl Sunscreen!! So good.
Vlogs are just THE BEST🥰✨✨
The kids version is my favorite BGS sunscreen!
This was a fantastic vlog as well as a test/review

I use the Black Girl baby version topped with powder to tone down shine.

you’re so beautiful cass ❤🦋
hey I made it to a premier for the first time, how bout dah. Love your channel Cassandra! 🦋
Thank you so much for this, Cassandra! I have had so much trouble deciding what to use, and I feel really good about your advice! 💐👑
Really liked to see you having fun with a friend in your everyday life, it was cute (especialy the moment with the snails 🤭). Love you ❤

make it matte seems awesome, I'm middle eastern and very olive toned and i'm excited to try it out
I’ve been using the kids version for yearS!! I like the original but the kids is cheaper and more spf.
Plus, it's better for my dry skin. No moisturizer needed!

Imma try the ice latte here at home. Genius!
I like the original spf 30 as my spf refresh later in the day. I wanted to love the the matte, but it felt like a smothery make-up to me.
I’m looking for a sunscreen that doesn’t smell like sunscreen because I get nauseous from the smell 🤢.
I HAVE heard some really good things about BGS.
Girl Clear choice spf
Cass! You must now do a video on the kids Version and maybe compare to the black tube?
I’ve used both formulas and they’re wonderful!
I love the kids version. Was shocked it doesn’t sting or burn around my eyes with those typical US filters. Now it comes in a 6 ounce size!
6 Oz is a spray.

can anyone please recommend me a good sunscreen for combination/ dry skin. i tried black girl sunscreen however my skin looks oily

I’m struggling so much to find a mineral sunscreen without minimal white cast and without salicylates for dry skin :( biossance one is discontinued
The make it matte is awful for my dry skin and burnt the crap out of my eyes. The kids formula tho, bomb. On my 3rd tube and will always repurchase.
Come to Australia we can go to the beach together! 😅❤
I love dewy!
Anyone else see Gerald from Wendy skin in the video? (Mark in video 2:49)
This product has coconut oil and squalene. How could it NOT be oily?!?
I got littled mermaid onne
can you review sweet july skin by ayesha curry?
Why?
Where you purchase that mirror from?

Prop 65? 😂
Yes, an online dermatologist- U.Syed mentioned Oxybenzone + Avobenzone in sunscreens.
