- The Philadelphia trolleybus system, or trackless trolley system as it is known by its operator, forms part of the public transportation network serving Philadelphia, in the state of Pennsylvania, United States. It opened on October 14, 1923, and is now the second-longest-lived trolleybus system in the world. One of only five such systems currently operating in the U.S., it presently comprises three lines, and is operated by the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA), with a fleet of 38 trolleybuses. The three surviving routes serve North and Northeast Philadelphia and connect with SEPTA's Market-Frankford rapid transit line.

May the choice of Trackless Trolleys spread across the US .
Beautiful trolley!
Twice the trolley poles, so twice the fun. Cheers from Wisconsin!
Love our Trackless Trolleys.💚👌
So! THIS is trolleybus please! The hybrid of a tram and a bus!
I am a fan of these. Better for the environment, quick, smooth and also very quiet compared to regular diesel buses. I really hope these are here to stay for a while as Boston just ended their trolley bus service and other than Philly and us here in San Francisco, there really aren’t many of these left! Kinda surprising considering how efficient they are.
Trolleys forever!
The term "trackless trolley" was also used by the MBTA in Boston. Elsewhere, "trolleybus" is the norm, like Seattle and Vancouver, BC.
In SF we just called them “buses”
They’re all buses. We didn’t differentiate. Hell sometimes we called the trains buses.
I don't know what Dayton Ohio calls theirs.
These Trackless Trollies (aka trolley buses) will just keep on running for a few more years until retirement. 800 will be 17 years old and the rest will be 16 years old. Boy I hope these do last long as septa proposed with the rebuilt stuff on them.
I used to drive the ones in Boston.
Sounds like Vancouver
Is "trackless trolley" common term in United States? I've never heard it used in context of Europe, just "trolleybus".
2:47 roaring gears like in ZiU-9 :D
Pretty much just on the east coast they call them trackless trollies. On the west coast we call them trolley buses
I hope the MBTA repents and brings back their trackless trolleys. 😢
