Great podcast...... interesting, open, honest and the reason Danny is successful because he's very articulate and pretty much not biased. Good good player for us and dislikes Man Who.......😉 YNWA!!
@@JRA73 His honesty is one thing about him that sets him apart from a lot. He a real guy.
Great interview Danny seems a great guy
Today's football doesn't match up to late 90s to middle 00s..today's is non physical, diving and bluffers game
I remember being in the lower centenary stand at Anfield, and danny was getting real stick from the supporters. He wasn't playing well at the time. I kept shouting words o f encouragement when he would run up the wing. After the final whistle he came over and applauded me for the support. Never forgot that.
Applauded you 🤣🤣🤣
Makes a nice change from the sad sacks shouting abuse and gesturing from the crowd.
@@bendodsworth2373😂😂😂 owed him everything
Nice one fella.
And great acknowledgement from Danny
'Things that never happened'
Danny is such an underrated pundit. Makes valid, thought through points. Just because he doesn’t make a joke out of everything like some of the modern pundits, he doesn’t get the plaudits.
Absolutely love him on Talksport with Simon Jordan.
Couldn’t agree more about the incessant need for everything to be a joke - it’s an incredibly tiresome and juvenile trait.
@@Resenbrink thought I was the only one. It’s the new RUclips/Millennial type pundit I hate. Give me a mature, serious football conversation any day.
Ruined it with that last sentence.
100% agree, I love Danny and his intricacy on everything, and yes him and Simon Jordan are a brilliant combination. Can’t stand Jim though.
I think people have began to realize just how brilliant he is as a pundit ..there's only a very small number of good ones most are truly terrible ...alli mccoist for example is a brilliant radio personality but his views on football are so vanilla it's startling...doesn't wanna go against popular opinion and certainly won't risk upsetting anyone ...just like the majority of his peers...we need more like danny
Probably the most honest Footballer to speak on a podcast.
Shame he was bang average as a player
@@tf2368 he wasn't bang average man haha come on, he was decent
How many EPL games has he played? @@tf2368
He was a free kick specialist, he was decent, scored some decent goals too @@tf2368
Gets stick from some quarters, but I like him. Nice fella. This podcast continues to impress.
as a Man United fan with salford red running threw veins ... What a amazing interveiw and what a lovely guy ...Hats off too Danny such a humble and lovely guy
Nice one mate! Mighty Red myself (The One And Only Reds Btw) inside an out…
I totally agree with ya ; proper opened up.
Err decent pundit too!
#ynwa
Blue nose here, (EFC) agree with the both of you, great interview and a great lad. Think that he should be in Gary Lin's chair on match of the day. No poitics just football and would make it easier to watch when your team losses. (Nobody likes Gary L).
Never liked him as he scored that free kicked on that cold day on Dec 4th....they were shit and hung on....now Utd did that at Lanfield.....got so much stick.....scouse bastards seem to of forgot them days of Hula hoop !!!
Always talks well for me Danny, honest, knowledgeable and says the right things and sometimes the wrong things, which is why I like him and how he comes across. Type of guy who strikes me as if you had the pleasure to speak to, could probably chat with him for hours about allsorts such is his nature and decent persona he seems to emit. Good work on getting him on the podcast, look forward to similar guests on the show. 👏👍
Liverpool fan for over 50 years and Danny Murphy was one of my fav players… Today, he’s a brilliant pundit and his interview here is the man I knew him to be. Really enjoyed it.
I’m a massive United fan, but I respect Danny Murphy because he’s not bias, he’s objective and tells it how it is. I like listening to him.
Agree. I'm a United fan too and rate Murphy's analysis.
He hates arsenal
Bright man he is, and you’re bright for seeing this.
Man, I really hate it when someone starts a point with “As a …. fan…”
We don’t have to state constantly who we support in order to offer compliments, it’s fine
If I agree with anyone, or disagree, it’s not cause I support or don’t support a specific team
Love when he stands up to Jordan on talksport. He has made Jordan look like a idiot on several occasions. He should get the motd gig
I think Danny is up there with the small number of great pundits out there. He makes a lot of sense, doesn't window dress what he says, and if he doesn't know or have an opinion on something, he's honest about it. He's a real, genuine person who's in the game for the right reasons. I found myself coming for the football insights and stories but leaving having learned a lot about what it means to grow up, go through some struggles, and emerge a much wiser and ultimately happy and contented person. I listen to him whenever he's on Talksport
Such a well spoken and respectful bloke, fair play to him for being so honest. That Fulham run to the europa league final was one of my fave footy moments ever. Big up DM
Danny Murphy is one of the best pundits there is, I listen when he talks. This was great viewing 👍
December 2000, Old Trafford. I actually had emotions and tears of joy. United had some kind of a hold over us from 1996 Cup Final. We didn't really have a good record there, then comes up Danny Murphy. 1-0 and one of the longest closing stages of the 90. Thank you 🙂
Nobody was that emotional over it lmao.
@@MCHAMMER-ld5grWanker
Since 1993 I would say not 1996
Danny Murphy, as a lad born and raised in Charlton we were so lucky to have a player of your quality at our club, it's great to see how you've not disappeared from football. Absolutely top man, honest and brave. Great podcast
Could listen to this all day long. Danny Murphy is one of the most mature, knowledgeable and likeable ex pros on tv and radio. Pure class 👌
Didn't believe i could like and respect Danny anymore than i do as a liverpool fan! ❤ incredible, honest and heartfelt interview.in terms of football thought and insight you run carra a close second.top draw danny.just like your winners against united.genuine gentlemen/real footballer! ❤
Wow what a great interview. I have always loved Danny Murphy, his love for Liverpool FC is unwavering but the respect he showed for Fulham was great to see. But for me in this show he gave a great insight in to the humanity of how quickly mental health and addiction can hit anyone.
I take my hat off to you Danny for being so honest about your thoughts that you would not be one of them people.
I have worked in mental health and addictions for many years. The people I have treated that have been at the top of their world and said the very same. Thinking that “they” are the down and outs on a council estate. How wrong they are. Addiction grabs anyone.
❤ YNWA
And on rules one thing that drives me insane is players in their own box with their hands behind their backs. How the hell can they move right to defend like that 🤯🤯🤯
Brilliant watch, great interview. Danny was so honest, i love watching him on MOTD.
Yeah he's the only good pundit on motd the rest are so full and weak...he's up there with Cara and neville
Brilliant interview. Danny Murphy was a stalwart for Liverpool. Bit sad to hear his bad experience with Benitez but new managers always have an idea what they want to do with a squad and maybe he didn't fit the immediate first choice squad profile. Because of his experience I think he can be a terrific ambassador for ex- footballers that can get into health and habit problems. YNWA Murphy
One of my favourite players and pundits. He says it like it is and was a vastly underrated player. Wish him all the best in the future
Danny Murphy on John Barnes, class that, class act Danny, and never a truer word spoken.
Very intelligent man is Danny Murphy. Always makes sense and is one of those pundits , through his class analysis, that forces you to listen to every word. See's a lot of things on the pitch that others would never see, and, i think he would make an excellent Coach.
One major asset that Danny has is his ability to speak without any bias. As a scouser he always speaks highly of Utd, there is no envy or jealousy in his words. A man of class and quality.
That was a very good Podcast well done Danny for being very open and explaining how his life has gone . well done Ben and Danny a pleasure to watch
cant believe this channel doesnt have more subs, this is insane! I really enjoyed this Convo! Danny was one of the Gerrard Houllier era players I recall and loved watching. thats more or less the era when it was Finally easier for me to catch Premier league games living in the United States and every now and then they would show a Liverpool, Arsenal, Machester game mainly, but Alan Shearer's Newcastle was also broadcasted quite a lot. That Houllier era though, is the one that made me become a Liverpool supporter, thank you for giving us this Interview/opened talk and Thank you Danny for showing us a part of you not many of us are acquainted with! such an awesome Gentleman!
Thanks Ben, and thanks Danny. This was quite an uplifting podcast for me as someone that has struggled. Know that you are a great bloke Danny !
no bs honesty from Danny Murphy!Top interview
Fantastic interview & a great insight into a lot of different subjects.
Big respect to you Danny, very honest
Great to see Moby stepping out from behind the decks to drop knowledge on football. We are all made of stars indeed………
Really enjoyed your interview with Danny, first I've seen. You listen, not but in. Like the man, who's past away, who did Desert Island Disk radio 4 .
Brilliant thanks, my Saturday morning started well
Looking forward to this as he's always come across as a bit more worldly than the average lambourghini owning type footballer.
United fan, massively respect Murphy. He’s great on TalkSPORT. Can’t find the clip of him slagging Mark Goldbridge. It was brilliant!
Mark Goldbridge is a better pundit
You're not a united fan if you're heaping praise on this muppet. He was bang average in a bang average Liverpool side. Benitez binned him for Xavi Alonso which was obviously the right decision because Murphy was absolutely gash.
@@Biffo316I'm a lifelong United fan and that doesn't stop me admiring a decent human being which Danny clearly is. Your comment says more about you and it's not good.
This has been my favourite pod cast, I’ve been waiting ages to hear his story 👏🏻 class!
Brilliant stuff. So thoughtful and considered. Full and rounded opinions. Very easy to listen to. Thanks Danny.
A great interview. Congratulations and thankyou Danny for being so open and honest.
Great interview Ben and well done Danny, very open and truthful and a great pundit, speaks well and educated...
Danny comes over as a such a nice guy, very articulate & interesting & honest. I could listen to him talking about football for hours. A great interview 👍🏼
This was a wonderful interview….👍🏾😊
Really enjoyed this and have subscribed. Liverpool fan so love Danny, great show thanks Ben 👍
Fantastic interview with one of Chester's finest ... top lad Danny, thoughtful and articulate and brutally honest about a whole range of personal topics! Great pundit too!
An excellent podcast. Danny speaks so well, so honestly and openly. Really thought provoking, and also entertaining, of course. Thank you!
I remember when he came on Talksport & he was ace. Then he did the World Cup & he absolutely slated Neymar for diving & everyone was like it's superb to hear someone so raw & honest commentating for a change.
LFC lad Danny down to earth luv listening to his honest take on the game.
I think Danny has the gift of being an articulate person who inarticulate people can relate to
Played with Danny wayback when we were about 10 years old in Kingsway. He was by far our best player even at that age. This was a great listen 👍
always liked danny and the way he doesn"t let simon jordan talk over him
Amazing watch/listen. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Brilliant interview, I’m now a new subscriber, Danny spoke so well and honestly on some very sensitive subjects, huge respect to him
Danny is a great pundit. Love listening to him on Talksport in the mornings too.
Great how open and honest he is here... top marks fellas 👏
This was a great podcast, Danny very good as he is on the radio & Tv, talks a lot of sense in life not just on the pitch, excellent guest.
18:31 - 19:00.
Wow real empathy and understanding and truth from the heart!!
Loved them free kicks at the Theatre Of Wet Dreams 😂
Yes Danny Murphy Take a Bow
very interesting and absorbing conversation , thanks for posting
Absolutely loved that 👌🏻 great interview, Danny Murphy is top draw 👌🏻
Subscribed! Really enjoyed the episode and Danny Murphy comes across like a good chap
Ben has a great manner, makes talking easy; Danny was very open. It’s a hard reality of football that you may be valued as a world beater by one man, yet disregarded in an instant the next day; thank goodness other professions allow a little more security of tenure in the post!
Wow!! What a podcast ! If I could give this 10 stars 🌟 I would. Great questions from Ben. Loved Danny as a player. But wow. So articulate, honest, humble. Insightful. This podcast should be shown to all academy players all around the world 🌍 over two hours and not once did Danny use the f or c word. 😂Absolutely riveting. One of the first podcasts where I repeatedly went back for a few seconds to hear Danny’ reply. I loved his thoughts at the end about taking free kicks quickly. What a good shout ! 👏👏 Fantastic guys. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
This is like therapy without paying for it. Most of the issues he's said i am going through myself right now. I have never come across a podcast from a ex pro footballer that has been so informative. Props Danny. YNWA
We all need a purpose in life. Danny’s got so much to offer the world. When his final day comes I hope he’s satisfied with who he’s been and what he’s done. Come on brother how can you be the best of yourself? Much love ❤
Legend Danny Murphy Love how honest you are #YNWA.....
ps Owen wasnt loved as much at Liverpool because we knew he would always leave at some point... my opinion
Good to see he's come out of his dark times and is appreciating and enjoying his life again. sin
Brilliant interview,very interesting.Danny speaks so well👍🏻
Very honest and open interview with Danny
Great Interview and one of the best pundits out there.
Danny for me is the best pundit of his era because he is so honest, and straight down the line. Very knowledgable on football.
Epic interview, big fan of Danny as a player and pundit.
really enjoyed dannys take on himslelf and his journey, top lad and a great pundit.
I love Danny as a pundit and a player, he's a better human, well done Danny.
Danny Murphy was one of my favourite players. Rafa got off to a bad start in my books when his very first moves was to sell him
Danny Murphy is a good man and was a very good player .. us Liverpool fans will never forget Danny Murphy Liverpool legend.. thank you Danny for all the good times 🫡🫡
BOSS THIS, WE HAD PRIVILEGE TO WATCH HIM DO THIS FROM HIS MANOR IN KINGSWAY CHESTER....... HONESTLY THIS IS BEST PODCAST WATCHED FOR A WHILE...TRUTH AND TELLING IT HURT'S BUT THE TRUTH DANNY'S TOLD.....A BILLION PERCENT RESPECT BROTHER 💓🔌🧲💚🧬........REAL DEAL MEN TELL THE TRUTH X
What?
I have so much respect for Danny Murphy for coming out with his personal struggles. It makes a massive difference to those struggling. Always one of my fave LFC players of his generation - he's gone up a few notches after this. #YNWA
Fantastic interview. Very forthright and even though an out and out scouser one of the best pundits around. 👍😉
Hes from Chester!
Nice to get a well grounded footballer. And his comments were very heartfelt.
Great coverage David.
Agree with all but one, I’d play Szobo and rest Endo. For me, Szobo needs to improve, another game will help.
I called that David Thompson was gonna be better than Gerrard! That went well…
Done well at Tottenham ... respect Danny 👏
Technically great player.
Excellent interview , top guy Danny
Beautiful this. You're a legend Danny
Love Danny Murphy
Could listen to him all day
Great show and great interview.
Danny always speaks well , whether personal or as a pundit..
likeable fella .. 👍🏼
Hope many young up and coming players see this podcast as it’s very informative.
love listening to Danny
Well done Danny & Ben , such a great balance
Good interview Ben but in future could you ask these guys which player they dreaded playing against the most and why? Cheers
Danny Murphy top bloke! Never really liked him personally as a United fan and always thought he played a bit of a character on MOTD. But getting to know him on the podcast top top bloke and someone you can see has done a lot of learning on themselves as a human being.
He was a great footballer Danny for sure, glad things have now turned out well.. An integral player in a great Liverpool era
Very good listen, like the interviewer as well
Brilliant interview
That was superb! Great man 🙂
So great - good questions - fascinating viewing
I'm a glasgow rangers fan and would have loved to see him in govan listening to him on talksport always balanced and honest great player great person and actually enjoy white and jordon more when he is on
Danny your honesty helps. Thanks
He was not forced out, He was upgraded for a far better player which comes to most Pro's eventually it's called evolution got to keep the squad fresh, Every Manager will be planning to upgrade the squad over time if not they are not doing the Job they have been employed for.
Evolution? Darwin? He was Upgraded? 😂🤣😂
@@sharkymoon422 I think your missing at least a 15 year gap there bud try Xabi Alonso, Danny left Liverpool in 2004 after losing his first team spot and Xabi Joined Liverpool in 2004. Darwin LMAO Sharky thanks for the laugh 😂
Clearly a yank 😂😂 clueless
He was a bad sell, shudder kept him, good player, differs from being British and a known quantity, very fine player. Benitez was wrong, like he was about many strange decisions
@@roonoronno656You think he was wrong ? We got Alonso to replace him, Rafa made the right call.
Excellent interview.
A treble, not, The Treble…
Decent pundit and knowledgeable.didnt know he liked wacky backy etc
Explains the punditry
Great interview, the other man’s grass is always greener until you get close up and find it’s exactly the same colour, glad to see you are out of all that drug taking 💩👏👏👍👍
Great footballer.... was awful as a pundit to start with but has grown into the role and is now accomplished and one of the best in that field.... the voice of reason
Great interview Danny, take up walking football or play veterans, you meet lots of great people
