People don't realize that Morrison could have been a legend if he would have been more disciplined, never caught HIV, and found the right trainer. He is still a boxing legend even now, although he wasn't an all-time great. People argue that he had a weak chin and couldn't compete with the greatest of his era, but I believe a big part of that was the style in which he fought not fitting his strengths and weaknesses. Morrison was still young when his career was ended tragically. I truly believe that if Morrison had not had the distractions, found the right trainer for himself, and found a perfect style that fit his strengths and weaknesses (like Lennox Lewis did), he would have further ascended and probably won multiple belts at some point. The maturation, and pinnacle of Morrison's development should have taken place during or after the tail end of the Lennox Lewis reign. Morrison should have been at his best, and right in the mix with the Klitschko's as a more mature fighter in his early 30's. The late-90's to the mid-2000's should have been Morrison's peak as a pro, but he never made it that far as a fighter thanks to his demons. He could have taken over the division for a short time after Tyson, Holyfield, and Lewis were gone, or when they were on their last legs.

I was surprised when in retirement George said Tommy Morrison was one of top 3 hardest punchers he had been in the ring with. Equally suprising was that Tommy survived all those very heavy Foreman blows. This was actually a very interesting and close fight. Its a shame Tommy went downhill from here really.
How many times have we seen Foreman get stunned by solid punches? Everyone gets stunned at some point if they are an offensive fighter. Just because Morrison was stunned by Foreman doesn't mean he was going to go down, or get knocked out. Morrison was really good at recovering from being stunned even though his chin was a bit vulnerable. The last thing you want to do is go after a hurt man that is a dangerous puncher, and get countered, unless you know the guy is literally out on his feet hanging on by a thread. Morrison was an underrated counter puncher similar to Holyfield, but with greater punching power. Both Foreman and Morrison were great offensive fighters. If Morrison fought every fight like he did against Foreman, he probably would not have lost his WBO belt to Mercer, and maybe he would have lasted a bit longer against Lennox Lewis although I do think Lennox would have beaten any version of Morrison 8/10 times whether by KO or winning on the cards. Morrison lacked the chin that Foreman had, but when Morrison stayed mobile and circled, it was much harder to find his chin. Morrison was not built to stand toe to toe all night against the absolute best, yet that was his usual style. He fought a great tactical fight against Foreman, and he showed a glimpse of what he could do if he was more disciplined, and tactical in his approach.

Tom moved way to good and hit way to hard....
Morrisson. Decent fighter in his time. And the one Stallone used in Rocky 5. Interesting Stallone was willing then but changed his mind for Rocky 3....when he first wanted to sue real ex-world champions e.g. Roberto "Hands of steel" Duran and a fefw others. But realized within a minute how dangerous they were to even use as "actors"....so Stallone ended up using a non-boxer "Mr.T"... Odd actors who were never "fighters/competitive" picked ex-champions to be in their films. Jackie Chan had 2 of the best kickboxers in Meals ON Wheels....Benny "The Jet" Urquidez and Bill "Superfoot" Wallace....llightwgiht and middlewegiht champs....still very dangerous. But then if Chan could survive all the accidents he had over 50 years....that should have killed him 40 years ago....why not 2 ex-pro fighters? :) The man is still walking and talking....doing interviews....though he wears baggy pants...dont know how messed up his knees might be...

Amazing how many people don't know Tommy Morrison is John Wayne's grand son. Wayne is Dukes stage name his real name is Morrison. Cool that Tommy took the nick name Duke..that was also his grand dads handle..THE DUKE...would have been proud...Just sad how Tommy's life ended.
Tommy wasn't John Wayne's grandson. Morrison claimed he was was Wayne's grand-nephew but it's still a bit murky as to whether this was true.
I didn't realize Morrison was that solid a fighter. Not sure where the glass chin rap came from either.
Foremen pretty tuff !
Tommy Morrison such a shame he was coming to the biggest fight ever against iron Mike Tyson. Morrison was a great fighter and one of the best
Shampion For Ever George Foreman❤️🌺🌺🌺
Watch the space in between fighters and u can see Morrison closes well exits well and doesn’t stay static. He was no great white hope, he was the real dope. Loved the dope too much and f$&k himself over. Played a nice game of hit and run, ambush type style which is what you do vs a bigger stringer foe. Sun Tzu style. Everyone gets tired, but when ur in shape you can fight effectively when a little gassed. Morrison at 6’2 225 is not a big HW but could still hand when conditioned properly
Foreman lost 4 fights in his career, and this is one of them Morrison was clearly the better boxer here. This was his longest best fight.
Most of Tommy's fight did NOT last long.
Then man is 44, and his trainers said the George trained hard but he didn't know what for.
@@theloneraven1664 and STILL beat Moore a year later ... for the title ... KO ! Pissed off Teddy Atlas ! but i think that fight might have been rigged, Tedy will NEVER tell :)
@@KevinKilgorepage No Foreman just caught Moorer with a great punch. He wasnt prepared. Foreman almost beat Morrison and he was 20 years older. 35 year old Foreman wins this fight.
@@christiancharles2866 im not an expert , but i have my right to my take on it ... when the odds get big enough and the right bets are down is when we see this kind of thing ... by the betting record , i say it was a dive ....
@@KevinKilgorepage probably not
The Commentators said he should retire after this fight....and he went on to become the heavyweight champion of the world!!!....shows ppl have to stay in there lane...comment on the fight not on a fighters life decisions....whatever your age or circumstances GO FOR IT whatever "it" is......go hard work hard....keep pushing...block out negativity....BE GREAT
This was the perfect opponent for young george
TOMMY GUNN - HOME TEAM. Stones ? We have scales now for pounds
Where the hell is the sound?
I'd have love to see a MORRISON V TYSON FIGHT......I WONDER WHAT THE OUT COME WOULD HAVE BEEN !
So did Tommy have Aids or not? I been seeing alot of conflicting information
👊
George was able to eat all of Morrisons power and ask for more.
And STILL lost
KFC just seems out of place here.
How many low blows before the ref takes a point?
You blind fck
Smith is mad.
40:38 Morrison's eyeball popped out of the socket and he reached up and put it back in.
Shit is that real?
@@bumface1810 that was his eye lid that flipped, not his eye ball.
of course you know, when your'e really tired and you know you are losing on points and your only chance is a knock out, what do you do ? You punch them in the bag and hope you get your 5 minutes rest. George knows the game.
Yeah, and people have criticized Tommy for being too evasive in this fight, yet it's Foreman who got frustrated and went for a nut shot as Tommy couldn't be baited into eating that many big punches..

Why didn't Tommy feight that good against Ray Mercer he didn't train hard for the Mercer fight he did for the Foreman fight
that’s true
This fight is so underrated!
Forman do more pushing than punching 😅
Yup that's his defense cause he didn't have real defense but the idiots say him fighting like this when young, would've beat tom
George fights walking ahead in a straight line he pushes his classic way to get space
He pivots his opponents for space
He throws wide uppercuts and hooks he repeats the same push patterns and pivots this is his style as im watching
Its very basic really basic this is his style he is very slow on top of being sloopy and easy to read cause his pattern as
George relentless pressure is what allowed him to land shots but those wide shots had to be repeated cause he was so easy to read and slow
Peter is way more advanced ver of foreman minus not wasting as many shots/not as basic/not as sloppy
So how would George win? Tom moved way to good and hit way to hard....
El Abuelo George!!
@33:26 commentator refers to Tommy says "he is healty he knows it very well" my god thats eerie.
%50 of prime . maybe
£(33) Million. A little nod to their Masters.
Would of very much liked to seen Tyson vs both ,FOREMAN would of made 30mill MORRISON would of raked in 20mill tyson 35mill all in 1 fight SLUGGER VS SLUGGER MAN THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN GREAT TO SEE.
I don't think either one of these guys was fighting their best
George has a big Paycheck today! 7 Mill for the fight and a Percentage of the pay-per View! Which could end up at 15 or 20 Million for total Purse Money for fight…..So soon he will be flipping burgers 🍔 on his George Foreman Grill…So I ask you do you think he’s terribly unhappy? Terrific fighter in his day and Really a happy family man. God Bless him and his very large family.
And Rest In Peace Tommy who died of AIDS that help end his boxing Days…..
