Ruddock had three major flaws. Firstly he didn't jab enough, secondly he had almost no defense and lastly he fell in love with his so-called 'Smash' and just became predictable.

I don't understand why people comment Morrison had a glass jaw because he took some big shots here & kept coming not even tired still full of energy bouncing around in round five. When healthy before all that drama that took place he was one of the best. well conditioned fighter & I don't think any boxer wanted to be in the ring with him at that time. That left hook was vicious & he was altogether lightning fast & strong for a heavyweight.

Some fighters will always be remembered for their impeccable record at top level. Others for the excitement they bring to the ring. Tommy Morrison had this by the truck load. I mean, how many fighters elicit an “Oh shit!” response from the commentary? Tommy Morrison fights were edge of your seat stuff that could’ve gone either way, and for this he’s rightfully earned his place in boxing history. God bless you Tommy Morrison.

After that big knock down, Razor getting his head snapped back unprotected is going to get a count called by any decent ref. Since that was the third count in the round, it was over. I don't know why the one announcer was acting like that. The only questionable count was the second one, but I can see why he counted that one. It's easy to armchair quarterback, but basically Razor got way too careless and wild charging in, and got checked by Tommy.

    • @nocturne000
      @nocturne000 4 года назад +2

@Charles Martel Tommy's conditioning was absolutely his weakest attribute, next to his inability to lead with his jab and AIDs. But I give him credit. Most people don't know how exhausting a single round is, I'm not saying that about you I just mean in general. I remember once I realized I was flexing my traps for no reason during fights and sparing sessions. I broke the habit after shadowboxing for long periods of time and concentrating on my shoulders and relaxing everything when I flexed them. Just changing that alone gave me like 2 more energetic rounds. Boxers are obviously in shape, but it's mastering relaxing when you can that's the real trick.
I forgot my point. I think he was doing drugs at this point, no? I'm not sure what exactly but those can play a huge part on destroying stamina. I guess I just mean to say that I agree with you, but I still give him credit. Keep the peace.

      @@user-wh8mb7tm2g fight was 1995 - June 29, 1997
, Ruddock faces a Sept. 2 trial on charges he forcibly took back a $5,000 diamond ring he gave the mother of his 3-year-old son, Shaka. The child is the center of a custody battle. Those distractions loom larger than the 6-foot-4 boxer. He made millions fighting, but bankruptcy and failed investments have left him cash poor. A contract dispute ruined a close relationship with his beloved brother, Delroy.
And now the bitter break-up of his four-year relationship with Alexandra Williams, a South Florida woman, has lead to a robbery charge that could land him in jail. Williams portrays a very different Ruddock. She told police he harassed her for months and then ripped the ring off her finger Dec. 1 when she went to the fighter’s house in suburban Plantation to pick up some of Shaka’s clothing.
“He comes to my house, he vandalizes my property, he comes over without permission, he beats me up, or he has beaten me up,” she says. “It’s got to stop.” The two broke up in October 1995. Ruddock, born in Jamaica but raised in Toronto, has not boxed since June 1995 when he lost to Tommy Morrison.

Ruddock kept getting hit in the face without even defending himself. It was a good call by the ref.

was a badstop because hewas not out on his feet and he could have just done some 8 count or just let it go till he is not able to defend. he was actually still defending. bad calls by ref.

No he was not defending himself he wasn't throwing any punches back and the referee is responsible got all these backseat drivers I think they have all the answers he was beaten

Jesus, it was not a bad call. I’m not saying razor wouldn’t have crushed him in the next rd or 2, but at that moment his head snapped back violently after being legitimately knocked down - hard - by a Morrison left hook. He seemed defenseless. Right call ref.
Having said that, Tommy probably would’ve gassed out and been ko’d soon. Whatever. Tommy won and he deserved it. Btw. I’m a Ruddock fan.

Tommy was a great hitter with a terrible left hook and a great heart. But he missed the needed condition. And his chin wasn't suitable to his boxing style. RIP Duke. We love you.

What was the ref smoking??? His gloves are up and hardly any punches landing and he does a count, then stops it after 1 left hook got in... Wtf was he thinking lol.

I agreed with the referee, Razor was done, done, and there was no need to have anymore damage to his brain, so the referee, in my opinion, did the right thing.

i wish Tommy would have been a little more dedicated ... a shame. I have seen him do some FOOLISH things in the ring and moments of BRILLIANCE, speed, power and accuracy. And now he is dead.

Great fight! Ruddock could have continued but the ref ruled otherwise. It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if Ruddock had been allowed to fight on. Personally, I think he would have bounced back to win in the later rounds by stoppage. I think Tommy was a spent force at the end of that sixth round. Great left hook by Tommy though and all credit to Ruddock from getting up from that hellaciuos shot. Not many fighters would have! 🥊

The referee didn't throw the left hook. A fighter has the responsibility to show he can throw back when taking a beating like that. It isn't the ref's job to think about how many seconds are left or whether Tommy Morrison had stamina problems and may lose the next round.

Announcers got on my nerves on this video. When a fighters head is being whipped back by punches and he is not punching back the ref can stop the fight. It was not a bad call.

Razor would have recovered fairly well between rounds if they didn't stop it but my sense is that Tommy would have probably knocked him out next round or two anyway. Razor was never the same after his two wars against Tyson. May have looked the same but he couldn't really stay with the big boys again.

Not the best ref and a bit quick to jump the gun in my opinion but Tommy definitely deserved to win the fight as he made a lot more effort defensively and in the end on the offensive. It's just a shame the whole fight it looked like Tommys illness was exhausting him from Round 1 although he still went on to win the fight. What a champ! RIP.

The announcers were very annoying to listen to. Who cares what they think is questionable? The ref has to make the decision that he feels is best to make sure no one has life altering injuries.
