Choose your own card network

RBI has asked banks to stop entering into exclusive agreements with card networks. The move is positive for NPCI's RuPay cards because of their UPI integration.
However, most banks have flagship card products in partnership with either Visa or Mastercard.
In 2022, RBI allowed cardholders to store their card details in UPI apps and make payments by scanning QR codes.
While the circular applies to credit card networks, only RuPay has received permission to integrate with UPI.
The directive will be effective in six months.
The new circular means that customers will no longer be limited to a card network chosen by the issuer.
Banks will have to provide existing cardholders with this option at the time of renewal.
Issuers with fewer than 10 lakh active cards will be exempt from these requirements.
Issuers with credit cards on their own network (like American Express) will also exempt from this circular.

Rupay will be integrated to all future payments for india .. if u are a person who doesnt go abroad many payment options will be available like post payment pay later etc .. to even reduced charges if more indians are within a same network remember foreign network charge in dollars … even reducing card charges within govt control … investment options like bonds stocks etc can be bought in rbiretail , stock markets like nse bse etc.. to indoor payments will be available … upi in credit cards are a huge benefit as well whats the point in todays term who cant use upi to pay … rupay cards will have other lounge benefits for indian airports … rupay has some metro facilities …. Then for modern railways stations you have benefits like lounge , food , wifi for rupay cards …. Everything in future will be rupay .. so think wise before you decide… last point one nation one card will be on upi which sums up everything

Last month. I ordered SBI prime card. Lastly that lady over the phone sir prime card American express network nu mumumuthu solitanga. I didn't even hear the American express network part. After that once ordered I can't change the network now. American express is not accepted in many places in India. Now i have to replace and order again from the beginning. Big scam. Have to be very careful in credit card process
