I remember seeing this guy back in the late 90's early 2000's as this big fat guy, and seeing him as a jacked beast now makes me smile. The guy improved his own quality of life and probably will be around for years beyond where he would've been had he not cut weight.
"I've lost 200 lbs a couple of times" Jesus, that really puts it in perspective. This guy is incredible. Also shoutout to all my dudes and ladies with "formerly obese person" calves!
I've lost 100-150lbs. twice myself. Your body weight is essentially a lifestyle, eat anything anytime slob life and you are fat, eat what you NEED only when you it with consideration to quantity and timing and you'll be leaner and looking better. It's both that simple and SO F'N hard and the same time....Right now I'm fat...again...and I'm gonna have to get serious with myself once more I guess.
I used to be 400lbs and I’m 6.0 ft tall. I had fatty liver, borderline diabetic and was a high risk of heart attack. I’ve been fat my whole life. I pretended I was happy and allowed the jokes roll right off. But I wasn’t. I was sad inside. My mental health suffered because of that. Then 10 years ago, I decided to do something about it. I’m now 235 lbs and in the best shape I’ve ever been at the age of 41. I worked so hard for a year and a half. And continue to. No more anti depressants or other meds. Ethan is my inspiration.

He doesn't just look like a different human... he literally IS a different human. Besides some of the cells in his organs and bones, he is a completely new person.
His achievement far surpasses any guy who has trained and been fit all their lives. He started from rock bottom and did what everybody says was impossible. He is a rare human being.
I think of the patience it took. He didn't see results overnight. The difference in how he looked from 400 to 350 couldn't have been that significant but he KEPT GOING, and that is what impresses me. While life-time consistency is impressive, it's also a habit that someone got into, probably based on their circumstances or even need. But to break old habits and truly get yourself out of the yo-yo, up and down cycles is more impressive to me. We'll see what he looks like in 5 years, that will truly tell the story of if he's broken his old habits for good or if the yo-yo is still going up and down.
Can’t imagine being put through that at the age of 5. Parents, please don’t underestimate the things you do and say to your child in their formative years. The repercussions last a life time and it’s a series of battles that don’t need to happen ever.

He was on Tim Pool’s podcast a month or so ago, and he mentioned briefly that he would have made more money if he stayed overweight. Jacobs said it was "funny" no one ever called him out on the inconstancy. Until now right? Lol.

I say this as someone who watched Suplee as a kid. The amount of change he's gone through is TRULY STAGGERING. All through his career in the 1990s, he was always a big boy. Always.
Ethan brings up something that I struggled with for the longest time, which is that despite making a significant change to my body in a positive way, I nitpicked and just saw the negatives, such as my spine curvuture (I got pretty bad scoliosis) but when I look at Ethan Suplee shirtless with hanging skin, I just think "Holy shit he looks great. What a beast". We're really our worst critics.
Holy shit. I had NO idea who this dude was until I looked him up and realized I knew him very well from the early 2000s. Entirely different person. Wow
Such a great story. I had a similar experience, I lost about 125 pounds, going from 400 to 275 that I weigh now...the reaction of people that knew me my hole life was great, but the ones they see me from time to time was special. It was a hard as hell journey, and I can relate to a lot of things Ethan said here.

Absolutely awesome job Ethan. I had a similar experience. Went from 322 down to 198 with salads and smoothies. After the first 3 months the "hunger pains" went away and I began craving nutritious food 🥑. Fat in your diet is nowhere near as bad as the medical system told us. It's all the simple carbs and chemicals in our food. I now avoid 90% of the grocery store
I’m normally a very harsh person. This guy deserves every bit of props and love as anyone I can think of. I grew up with him as a regular in my favorite shows and movies and he truly is a different human being. I wish I could tell him myself. Good job man, your a role model for so many people out there.
It is crazy how people indiscriminately project negative self perception onto children, I’m glad we grew a bit and realize more how damaging that can be. I hope Ethan knows how important that story is, and how many people appreciate him sharing that. 5 years old, man, that’s rough.
I get its his perspective and maybe his parents were crappy but like, lets face it, obesity comes from bad diet and not enough exercise. Kids don't just pluck their habits from the sky. Parents control 90% of what a kid eats until they're like 13 or 14. If you see a 10 year old thats obese you should feel angry, obviously not at the kid but still.
I like how he was so upfront and honest about being mentally ill. He didn’t preface it or excuse it. He just said “I have mental illness, and here’s how it’s affected me”

Interesting to see how he said it took 20yrs. He didn't try to lie and say how he did it in a month etc like most Hollywood actors. Bounced up and down in weight a lot over that time. Hopefully he stays healthy and doesn't gain any back in the future.
Most Hollywood actors don't have his body size frame or weight. I think he's the only Hollywood actor who weighed 550lbs, if I'm not mistaken
It didn’t take 20 years. It’s been a 20 year journey up to this point though. Those are 2 different things.
I mean he was prob fat due to depression and hormone issues and he prob got skinny because of gear. Lots of people take gear to stay in shape. If you want to know a dirty secret lots of girls take gears to stay in shape. Easy way to never worry about weight loss. Because fundanentally weight loss is about your hormone balance.
@@MrPantera123456 that is the same thing, the work and journey are one in the same. If it took me 20 years to become a doctor, because I had to drop out a couple times and figure my shit out, it still took me 20 years.
@@andrewvalenzuela4383 no man. By that logic. In another 20 years if he maintains his current weight he’ll say it took him 40 years? Lol. The journey did because it’s never ending. I remember seeing this guy back in the late 90's early 2000's as this big fat guy, and seeing him as a jacked beast now makes me smile. The guy improved his own quality of life and probably will be around for years beyond where he would've been had he not cut weight.
