Avalon Isles aren't the canon/vanilla name for the area - and while it does make for a better name than no name at all, should probably be aware of that for the future. They're called the Isles of NONE 'cause they're one of the regions of Kenshi that don't fall under any biome, which I think is a fan convention.
I love settling in Howler Maze, its quickly become one of my favorite areas. That being said if you are building a large base the area that is flanked by mountains (It looks like a crater, a bit west of your reccomended flat area) is incredibly easy to defend and has all resources nearby in abundance. It's easily my favorite area.
I love howler maze as well like no raids and the acid attrition is very mange compared to other zones as well as the crabs being so infrequently they are borderline non threats and are pretty good training dummies unlike the decptive holy lands where the local fauna will wreck u steal ur food and money and the fact u can still get raided by the dragon ninjas
7:22 You are welcome and thank you for making them! I really like your guides and I put my swamp base at the Swamp/Shem border zone, as recommended. One question (which you got probably asked many times already), are you planning on doing guides on training (skills & attributes)? I have seen many guides for them, but usually they are "ultra-gamey" exploiting mechanics, I think I have rarely seen any guide videos for those that were not.
Oi there, just feeling like throwing my two cents in here, hope you dont mind; When it comes to training your characters without exploits, there is not really that much to be done to optimize the process. It is mostly a question about which ememies to fight when and with how many characters. Starting with the humble dust bandit all the way up to mighty crab raiders, its gonna be a long and painfull journey. Which is kenshi in a nutshell. Also, make sure to steal, buy or craft the armor with the highest protection you can muster, but pushed to the extreme, this might also be considered gamey. Cheers!
@@simonsichelarm8631 thanks, yeah, that was my impression I guess sending particularly equipped "cannon fodder" against strong enemies and then rescues them is probably the "best approach".
Thank you for making these videos! Because of you I settled the fishman islands. Yes its pain, but in a fun way. I play on establising a southern empire along the southern coast and the fishman island! Goodluck on getting to 2k!
my first base i built that became a big city was in the Avalon isles where u recommended i walled off the whole island and had like 50ish people along with all the broken skeletons from that one base
Lesson learned. If you want something done, you must threaten RUclipsrs with outlandish nonsense directly related to their channel's profile pic. I must use this knowledge in the most irresponsible way possible!
I settled on that little peninsula in-between Gut and Howlers Maze, which even though looks a lot like the blueish Gut, is actually apart of Howlers Maze. I wiped out the beakthing population, and now just get harassed by Reavers, only saw one crab though. Acid rain too, but I like it
Deadlands it a funny place to live, cause enemy raids coming to you will be half dead from the acid. It has 0 fertility, no water and no wind though. Minerals are of poor quality too but they are present (you can suplement your iron/copper needs with security spiders). You basically gotta be at high tech level to have hydroponics and import water and maybe biofuel. Or just have fallout 3 raider grindset and simply take stuff from others.
I really appreciate that guy threatening you with a dashound. I'm playing a 5 nobodies all skely start and was thinking of somewhere to settle down. Was gonna go with the Fog Islands but the fog is annoying to play in.
There is is a little inlet left to howler maze connecting all 3 biomes and giving a very cool island in the center with a land choke point or live on land and have a red/blue floor (the island has a iron and copper node on it though it’s not deep water)
There is a really good spot in the north eastern coast of Dark Finger. The only cons are canibals and its a bit remote, but if you can live with that you can set up drug production real easy and sell it to the nearby United Cities.
Hey, hey, @paulrogersgaming , that "basement" hom3 footage was taken from Sseth's channel, wasn't it? I See You're a Man of Culture As Well 😂 And now I'm kinda disturbed that I am able to get this reference 🤣
80% acid resistance is enough for your character to regen faster than they're damaged by the acid rain, so your health will never go down. So a single Dust Coat will do the trick.

The Isles are present by default. They are outside any named areas by default though. Kenshi Genesis just puts a gargantuan city there and calls it the Avalon Isles. The Kenshi wiki calls the area the Islands of None for some reason.

unrelated, but i've been trying to use lagoon platform to start my base. every time i place it, however, my characters clip through the stairs making it useless. anyone know why this be happening to a playah?
I find the dog son story kinda fishy. I mean, is he really afraid of a small dog coming after his family? And how would the dog even get to his house? I think he just wanted to make a howlers maze episode.
There is a remote island ALL the way to the west (I hate my kind for this but it looks like a sperm whale subtract the whale part) I’ve been there once big enough for a decent house and FAR away

they're a zoneless area in kenshi which has its benefits and curses
another nickname for the zone is called "heng's tail"
It's a fun reference to Arthurian legend though, so hopefully it will keep this name in Kenshi 2.
@@lsswappedcessnaits during the second or first empire so doubtful it's not named during that period.
@@YuiFunami A rather lack of curses. What, a stray crab and tiny land masses? Hardly an issue with its all-rounder resources.

my last base was actually in howler's maze. It was one sceleton and bunch of hivers
we grew hemp and imported hashish to Heft
The absolute best part about howler's maze or any place with a lot of baby crab nests for that matter is training on baby crabs is so free.

You can also always build strategically placed tents next to working areas lol.
I haven't tried this yet but that would be a good way to incorporate the tent blueprints.
