80s movies didn't just feature songs that were once hits in the past. They made NEW hit songs FOR the movies, and the movies made HITS out of the songs! Beverly Hills Cop was LOADED.
"The Heat Is On' - Glenn Frey (#2)
"Neutron Dance" - The Pointer Sisters (#6)
    "Axel F" - Harold Faltermeyer (#3)
"Stir It Up" and "New Attitude" - Patti Labelle (#41 and #17)

Because of the recognition won by his work here, Bronson Pinchot was soon hired to be in a sitcom called "Perfect Strangers" that gained wide popularity. He and his co-star, Mark Lynn-Baker remain friends. I heard a podcast interview with him once, and not only was he very witty, but he struck me as a very charming and down-to-earth person as well.

8:15 Bronson PInchot. He was amazing and really funny on the tv show "Perfect Strangers", which is what he's best known from. He played Balki Bartokomous. A farmer and sheepherder from the fictional Mediterranean island of Mepos who comes to America to live with his cousin Larry in Chicago. It's my favorite show of the late 80s/early 90s.

If you enjoyed this, Martin Brest (director) directed another movie with a similar tone in 1988 called Midnight Run starring Robert Deniro, Charles Grodin, and John Ashton (Taggart from this film). Great reaction to the movie. The song is Axel F. and was written for the movie, but is a song in it's own right from the movie soundtrack. It reached #1 on a number of charts, but the movie is FULL of great 80s music. Neutron Dance by The Pointer Sisters, The Heat is On by Glenn Frey and a bunch of others. Height of 80's kick butt soundtrack songs.

18:24 - The actors improvised much of their lines and in this scene, everyone had trouble getting through it because they couldn't stop laughing and breaking character. If you look closely, John Ashton (Taggart on the right) is pinching his face to keep from laughing and Judge Reinhold (Rosewood on the left) was pinching his thigh through his pocket to keep his composure.
If you enjoyed this, the sequel (BHC II) has action and comedy that are dialed up to 11 as it was created by the Don Simpson/Jerry Bruckheimer clan (they made Top Gun).

Guess I was spoiled, cause SNL, his stand-up specials, & his debut in "48 Hours" & his follow-up, "Trading Places" were all 10 out of 10! I know people love this, so it's my loss. I really need to re-visit it because I don't remember a single scene. Here to hit the "like" for the algorithm. Top Eddie Murphy films (Besides Beverly Hills Cop) : 48 hours, Shrek, Coming to America, Trading Places and Distinguished Gentleman. Nutty Proffessor are good, funny definately worth watching when you need simple laughs but I am not sure if its worthy reacting...

The thing with the red leather outfit and why he laughed is because he used to wear that outfit.

I was a pre-teen and teenager in the 80s, and it is still the best decade ever, only followed by the 70s... in my opinion. I loved this movie, and my friends and I watched it in the theater and several times on VHS. The sequel is just as good, maybe even better in a couple ways. The third one is worth watching, but not great.

Beverly Hills Cop 3 (not as good as the first 2, but still good)
    48hrs & Another 48hrs
    Trading Places
    The Golden Child
    Coming to America

*Beverly Hills Cop 2* is even better imo, and his first movie role, *48 Hrs.* is good too, although not a comedy. His best may be *Trading Places.*
