Great reaction to a great movie! Judge Reinhold (Billy) was a staple of the '80s and early '90s. The last thing I remember seeing him in was an episode of Seinfeld, where he played the close talker. The film everyone remembers him for, though, is Fast Times at Ridgemont High, which is a quintessential, must-see '80s movie that made Sean Penn a household name. And if you look hard, you'll also see a young unknown named Nicholas Cage. Definitely add it to your list. Keep up the great work!
Eddie Murphy was amazing back in the 80’s, especially with the Beverly Hills Cop movies. The action, the comedy, the music, the pacing of the film. Yes, that was Bronson Pinchot from Perfect Strangers as Serge, apparently his going to be in the 4th Beverly Hills Cop movie that is being filmed. One part of the movie I also found funny was the “subtle” product placement during the truck chase at the beginning with the bus spin so you can read that WDRQ93 FM is the place for continuous music. I found the station online, they used to play pop and rock music, now it’s a country station, but that’s fine, I like country music.
His 1st 2 movies were with nick nolte 48 hours and the sequel those movies are hilarious action packed and they made him a super star ab Saturday night live
Judge Reinhold (Billy Rosewood) did, in fact, play a stoner in the 1981 movie Stripes. Bill Murray and Harold Ramis play two losers who join the Army because they have nothing better to do. Reinhold plays one of their fellow enlistees. You'd like the movie. Warren Oates plays the drill sergeant, John Larroquette (Night Court) is the commanding officer, and the late, great John Candy is another enlistee, a shameless con man and completely hilarious.
No way! Hahaha That's too cool! That's a franchise I really should watch at some point. I steered clear out of spite cause I was picked on throughout elementary and high school for my name. People sang the James Bond Jr. theme song every single time I came to class. Mind you, I watched the Brosnan ones because I loved the GoldenEye game.

This movie is the epitome of an 80’s movie, if you compare this to 48 hrs …. 48 hrs feels like a 70’s movie in style, photography. This movie came in at a time the style of the 80’s was being defined in movies from direction, photography, music. Great movie.
Judge Reinhold is the lead in Ruthless People. You might enjoy it. Love that you recognized Balki, who improvised and almost made Eddie break character. Peace, all
Jay, you liked Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) at some point you have to watch him in Ruthless People an 80's Classic Comedy. Eddie Murphy was also Great with Nick Nolte (1982) 48 Hours.
@@JayBondReacts Eddie Murphy's 1st Movie was 48 Hours & they did a Sequel Another 48 Hours in 1990. And you always say how much you like 80's Soundtracks another Great Soundtrack.
- That second banger theme song that's all instrumental synthesizer is called "Axle F.", named after Eddie Murphy's character and made for this movie. - Those ARE the same actor who played Balki in PERFECT STRANGERS, and Dick Jones in ROBOCOP, respectively. - The one time I visited L.A. and drove thru Beverly Hills, I was the dork that played the same montage song "Stir it Up" on my iPhone :D - I only wish that these movies went to a new city every time to keep it fresh, i.e., "Hamptons Cop", "London Cop".
"Before I go, I just want you two to know something, alright? The supercop story... was working. Okay? It was working, and you guys just messed it up. Okay? I'm trying to figure you guys out, but I haven't yet. But it's cool. You fuck up a perfectly good lie." Fun Fact: Eddie Murphy, John Ashton, and Judge Reinhold improvised most of their comic lines. Literally hundreds of takes were ruined by cast members, actors or the director laughing during shooting. During the "super-cops" monologue, Ashton is pinching his face hard and looking down in apparent frustration. He is actually laughing. Reinhold put his hand in his pocket and pinched his thigh really hard, trying to prevent himself from laughing. Projection Headline Fact: During his tirade at the Beverly Palms Hotel, Axel pretends to be writing an article called "Michael Jackson: Sitting On Top Of The World" for Rolling Stone magazine. In real life, Playboy ran an Eddie Murphy article with the same "Sitting On Top Of The World" subtitle. Double Assault Fact: The mansion used in the final shootout between Foley and Maitland (the former Harold Lloyd estate in Beverly Hills) is the same mansion seen in the final shootout between Matrix and Arius in Commando (1985). Coincidentally, both Foley and Matrix were trying to rescue somebody named Jenny in that mansion in their respective films.
Wow, I love all these facts! I'm not shocked that lines were improvised. I guess that's why everything seemed so playful and natural. I need to seek out some outtakes.
7:57 - this guy _IS_ Balkey from Perfect Strangers!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣 I can't believe that out of all the nostalgic things you did watch you watched that!! Haha! - used to be my brother's favorite show growing up (reruns.. )
He actually got the role of Balky because of this improvisation in this movie (and yes, he wasn't supposed to play that role, but the guy that they hired bailed and the director asked him (an extra at the time) to make something up, he did and they were all in tears with laughter, so he got hired)
If it hasn't been said already Judge Reinhold also played the Billy character here in Beverly Hills Cop he played Fast Times in Ridgemont High one very famous old school movie
Seriously?! Damn, I forgot all about what he wore. It's been so long since I've seen those. I really need to rewatch them. Love that they added that little easter egg. That's a good one!

26:45 "Undercover on the scene -- so he doesn't get arrested again?" So the cops don't see a guy, not in PD uniform, waving a gun around, and take him for one of the bad guys. 28:25 "I wonder why they listened [to Rosewood] that time." Because the first time, Rosewood only had Taggart backing him up; the second time, he's got _lots_ of cops.

Absolutely love this movie but I will say Beverly Hills Cop 2 is my favorite! Eddie Murphy is great and you definitely need to watch Coming to America, it's a classic 80s film and shows Eddie and Aresino's range/characters! Seeing Damon Wayans reminded me of I'm Gonna Git You Sucka, it's a Keenan Ivory Wayans movie based on the blaxploitation films of the 70s, it's hilarious and underrated for a Wayans movie. Good old Billy, actor Judge Reinhold is from my birthplace of Wilmington Delaware. You should watch Ruthless People. It's a pretty hilarious 80's comedy.
Martin Brest's directorial follow-up to this one was Midnight Run. I know I've mentioned it to you before, but that's how good it is. Then he made Gigli. We'll just sweep that one under the rug...

Fair about the shrimp salad sandwich, Jay. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

Yes!! The guy playing Victor Maitland was a Bond villain in Octopussy (1983). He's been in a lot of movies and TV shows.
Awesome. He has a great villain vibe, so I'll have to keep an eye out for him. I'm unfamiliar with the actor.

Awesome, thanks! Also, Nick Nolte is a name I haven't heard in so long! I used to watch him in Blue Chips all the time cause I loved Shaq.
@@JayBondReacts Eddie Murphy's 1st Movie was 48 Hours & they did a Sequel Another 48 Hours in 1990. And you always say how much you like 80's Soundtracks another Great Soundtrack.
amazing reaction
Thank you!
- That second banger theme song that's all instrumental synthesizer is called "Axle F.", named after Eddie Murphy's character and made for this movie.
- Those ARE the same actor who played Balki in PERFECT STRANGERS, and Dick Jones in ROBOCOP, respectively.
- The one time I visited L.A. and drove thru Beverly Hills, I was the dork that played the same montage song "Stir it Up" on my iPhone :D
- I only wish that these movies went to a new city every time to keep it fresh, i.e., "Hamptons Cop", "London Cop".
"Before I go, I just want you two to know something, alright? The supercop story... was working. Okay? It was working, and you guys just messed it up. Okay? I'm trying to figure you guys out, but I haven't yet. But it's cool. You fuck up a perfectly good lie."
Fun Fact: Eddie Murphy, John Ashton, and Judge Reinhold improvised most of their comic lines.
You're welcome!
Go in Peace and Walk with God. 😎 👍
😂❤😂 the Beverly hill series is fun, I hope you do the other 2.
If it hasn't been said already Judge Reinhold also played the Billy character here in Beverly Hills Cop he played Fast Times in Ridgemont High one very famous old school movie
Judge Rienhold was in Ruthless People, The Santa Clause, Fast times at Ridgemont High
7:29 Each of these is one of his suits used in his stand up specials Raw and Delirious.
Seriously?! Damn, I forgot all about what he wore. It's been so long since I've seen those. I really need to rewatch them. Love that they added that little easter egg. That's a good one!
@@JayBondReacts Absolutely love the first and 2nd BHC movies. 3rd can be skipped for sure. But I'm stoked for the new one they are filming as Reiser and Reinhold are back for it.
Best thing about 80s movie car chases: no CGI. They REALLY f****ed sh*** up.🤣
Fantastic reaction. This is one of my top 10 movies. I've loved it since i was a kid. I first saw it on it's premier on British tv i think in about 1987.
7:38 that particular scene always reminded me of the Witches display room in Return to Oz.
That's a movie I haven't seen, but some friends recently said it's almost like a horror movie because it's so crazy.
@@JayBondReacts I saw it as a small child since it was a Disney movie. I can tell you it did leave some scars
@@theghost6412 Damn. 😂 I kinda need to see it now.
26:45 "Undercover on the scene -- so he doesn't get arrested again?"
So the cops don't see a guy, not in PD uniform, waving a gun around, and take him for one of the bad guys.
28:25 "I wonder why they listened [to Rosewood] that time."
Because the first time, Rosewood only had Taggart backing him up; the second time, he's got _lots_ of cops.
These were both rhetorical. 😂 First one I literally say why "so he doesn't get arrested again" and the second was clearly a joke. Hahaha
You'll probably get a bunch of similar comments but, watch Trading Places before Coming to America. There is an Easter egg for TP in CtA.
Yeah, I'm gonna do that. I mention it at the end of this video because people had recommended that on the community post earlier this week.
He IS from Perfect Strangers
yes it IS BALKI from Perfect Strangers
Just found you Channel. The other days I love your reactions. I like how you tell us where some of the actors are from. Keep up the great reactions
Thank you so much!!
"Billy" was in Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
Yes that's balki from perfect strangers before it aired n judge Reinhold in fast Times ridgemont high the classic scene with phobe Cates 🔥 check it out really like movie n stick waiting on ya to watch raw deal with Schwarzenegger but Beverly hills cop 2 is good also 3 was OK
Nice, thanks! And yes, Fast Times I'll watch for sure. Raw Deal is also on my list. I didn't know Phoebe Cates was in Fast Times, that's cool. I know her from Gremlins! Wait...she's the red bikini scene I've seen pictures of?! It just clicked. What!!
Yes! No one ever talks about raw deal! I watched it many times on VHS back in the day!
It keeps getting recommended to me on Tubi. 😂
I love the ending freeze frames, my favorite is the one for the second movie. Great reaction please watch the second one if you can ❤
Thank you and will do at some point. I gotta gear up for spooky season! Vampire in Brooklyn will be the next Eddie Murphy movie. 😂
Mine is every freeze frame ending in "Police Squad!"
I really do love this channel and enjoy your reactions!!
I've never seen that Wayans movie! Thanks! My favorite blaxploitation spoof was Black Dynamite! That movie was great. Thank you as always Michele. 🙏
Great reaction vid!
And yes, THANK you, that sandwich description always stuck with me, lol. It is probably the only reason I've had a lifelong attachment to dijon mustard :/ but anyways... yeah, that soundtrack was EVERYwhere that year... so many hits. And the lines, that script(!), you couldn't go a week in high school without someone dropping in a line... "ha ha... did you write that one yourself?"
Awesome! Now that I think about it, when I was young people definitely said "did you write that one yourself". 😂
@@JayBondReacts "Don't be ridiculous"
This era of Eddy Murphy movies are amazeballs!
I can quote a metric 💩ton of the films.
You were right about both actors. That qas Bronson Pinchot from Perfect Strangers and Ronny Cox (Dick Jones) from Robocop.
That is indeed the guy from Perfect Strangers lol
Good old Billy, actor Judge Reinhold is from my birthplace of Wilmington Delaware. You should watch Ruthless People. It's a pretty hilarious 80's comedy.
ROSEWOOD was the Pizza GUY in: "FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH" !!
Yes that is Dick from Robocop.
Martin Brest's directorial follow-up to this one was Midnight Run. I know I've mentioned it to you before, but that's how good it is. Then he made Gigli. We'll just sweep that one under the rug...
Oh cool. Yeah, I added that one to the list before but that's neat to know it's the same director. I don't think I ever saw Gigli, but I remember so many people trashing it.
@@JayBondReacts They're both experiences. Like eating your favourite meal ever and being hit over the head with an iron bar for three hours straight are both experiences.
Yeah, he is Balki from Perfect Strangers (Bronson Pinchot)
"this guy feels like a bond villain" Yep, the year before Beverly Hills Cop, he was one of the villains in Octopussy.
That is too cool! It makes sense. The fact that (potentially) my first time ever seeing the actor, I'd say that's great casting!
And yes that was balki from perfect strangers.
The movies i grew up on, Classics. Beverly Hills Cop 1&2, 48 hrs and sequel, Golden Child, Trading Places. Coming to America, Harlem Nights
Nice! I believe all of those movies are on my list!
That Serge was definately Bronson Pinchot from the old tv series Perfect Strangers.
Loved his character in both! I need to dig up some old Perfect Strangers clips today.
The musicnis banging. All 80s films had great soundtracks.
It seems like it! This and Commando have the best theme songs that I've watched so far (from my reactions that is). So good!
@@JayBondReacts I bet the studios had stronger ties to the music industry back then so they used ach medium to market the other. I know Will Smith had it in his contract that films he was in had to have a song of his as the theme song.
excellent movie . glad you liked it . you might want to add Fast Times at Ridgemount high to your list ..another brat pack movie and very funny even without Eddie Murphy . Can't wait for the next one . 🇨🇦 from Canada
Thank you so much! Fast Times I've almost done a few times. I gotta watch it now that I know Rosewood is in it! 🇨🇦 Also from Canada!
Fair about the shrimp salad sandwich, Jay. Give you an example: sometimes you just think shrimp salad sandwich or...plate of shrimp...Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.
You should really watch Trading Places before Coming to America
If you want to check out some real car carnage, you should queue up The Blues Brothers.
Oh really? Nice. I added that one to the list a bit back though, so it'll happen! I played the SNES game constantly as a kid.
I hope you will react to all 3 movies, the 3rd one is the best in my opinion 🙂
I plan to watch the others at some point. Interesting to hear that you like the third, it sounds like not many people do for some reason.
the LA chief is one of the guys in deliverance
Love your stuff keep it up.
Thank you, appreciate it.
Classic movie
definitely check out Beverly hills cop 2 and 3. The 80's movies are my era.
