"I'm too old for this shit!" Fun Fact: Gary Busey says he was hired to play Joshua because they were looking for someone big and menacing enough to be a believable foe for Mel Gibson. Busey also credits the film for reviving his failing movie career. Firearm Enthusiast Fact: The Beretta 92F Mel Gibson uses in this film is the same gun that would be used by Bruce Willis in Die Hard (1988). The gun has since been retired. Done For Real Fact: Jackie Swanson performed the high fall on her own, trained by legendary stuntman Dar Robinson. Also, the stunt was done using an airbag covered with a life-size painting of the driveway and cars, which, like a foreground miniature, visually blends into the real scene. Thus, the editor is able to hold the shot until just as she makes contact with the airbag, for greater realism.
Jay, you mentioned that you haven't seen many movies featuring Gary Busey before he lost it. I looked at your action film list to be sure but I don't think you have yet to watch Point Break (1991...not the crappy remake...lol) that also stars Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze. You should definitely watch that film!

The only major similarity between _Die Hard_ and _Lethal Weapon_ is the Christmas theme. _Die Hard_ is in the category of the guy who is very difficult to defeat while _Lethal Weapon_ is in the category of buddy cop. The _Lethal Weapon_ franchise has its industry rivals such as _48 Hours_ (Nick Nolte & Eddie Murphy), _Bad Boys_ (Martin Lawrence & Will Smith), _Rush Hour_ (Jackie Chan & Chris Tucker) among others, sooner or later you will react to these franchises too. The interesting detail about _Lethal Weapon_ is that all four films are behemoths, there's no consensus from the fans which one is better than the other.
Knew you’d love this. If you can believe it, the next one is even better. They add a character to the mix you had no idea was missing from it. It GETS really good. 🤣
The best Gary Busey film, in my opinion, is Point Break from 1991. Plays an FBI agent opposite, wait for it….. none other than Keanu Reeves! It’s a really great movie and Busey is really good in it.
You will love this franchise!! BTW.. Lethal Weapon 5 is in Pre-Production right now.. With Mel Gibson Directing.. they are Aiming for 2023.. I can't wait!!
March 6 1987. Left work as an usher at a competing theater, to hear out to the CommackMultiplex to watch the midnight screening. Late 1980's was the greatest time for watching action movies. Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Gibson, Willis. The good old days.
@@JayBondReacts My kids are shocked that I can remember where, when and who I saw movies with but can't remember where I put my keys. It's a talent I have.
I was working retail in a mall that had a theater attached and would go see this after I got off work, the late showing ( usually around 10 pm) Must have seen this at least a dozen times in the theater. Such great memories!
They considered Mel Gibson as wolverine but he might have been too old by the time they got around to making it. There's concept art of Mel as wolverine from back in the 90s from the studio
Busey had his motorcycle accident in 1988 a year after this movie was released. He had brain damage and had steadily, well maybe not steadily, gone down hill ever since. But anything after Lethal Weapon he is a different person.
I love that you know and point out all the horror movie greats. Tom "Halloween III/Night of the Creeps" Atkins is a king for sure. "Thrill me." And the Balrog point out? *chef's kiss*
Three more to watch. As to Gary Busey. I went to high school with a guy that hung out with him. They had local late TV show in Tulsa. The other guy was Gailard Sartain. He liked to portray a Dr. Mazeppa Pompazoidi. Crazy show it was. Great reaction / review. And you got 3 more to go. Wait till you encounter Joe Pesci. Again, as we say here in Texas; Y'all be safe. Have a great Christmas also.
Just like Die Hard, it starts out with some Christmas music, it has some hints of it throughout. It even has a Christmas dinner. I think it's a Christmas movie, just like Planes, Trains & Autos is a Thanksgiving movie. I like how over the top Crazy Mel gets. He reminds me of Nick Cage. Like Wolverine, he's a Huge Jacked Man. Some times, contrasts are complimentary, and that's how things worked out. It's a very good and satisfying example of a buddy cop film. NOW, once December is over, you might like the Rush Hour series. It's another buddy cop series, that has nothing to do with Christmas, but it has some fine examples of JC & his martial arts kickasserie. It's a little more lighthearted, but it's still an awesome series. Highly recommended.
Awesome reaction again, Jay. Keep going on the franchise. It's just as good all the way through. I will continue to enjoy the references to the actors in these movies. I certainly never put all the Die Hard references together before. It's your ability to remember (most of) their names that I enjoy most. For my favorite Gary Busey movie recommendation; please watch Point Break, if you haven't already. I definitely have done the GTA/Google map of LA/movies in LA thing. I'm a map lover. Keep them up and see you later.
An interesting connection: the government operation mentioned in the film, Air America, was the subject of a film released some years later, called Air America. It starred Mel Gibson and Robert Downey Jr.
6:22 he is also in Die Hard (FBI Agent Johnson, no relations) and License to Kill (DEA Agent Hawkins) and many more. But he had these movies in a row 1987,88 and 89.
I've only seen the first one. And I grew up watching action movies with my Dad in the 90s, there's just hundreds I've still yet to see so you're not alone in your action film journey. Loving your reaction vids and movie watchings, Jay. Happy holidays!

Thanks for another great reaction, Jay! I work on production as well and that pool cover stunt looked terrifying. Very curious to know how it was accomplished. 🤔
Jay, I tried to add this fact in my previous post but I couldn't get it work. The top speed of a Bell helicopter is approximately 160 mph so the target was flying away at that speed when Rigg's was trying to shoot it.
Right?! I was so stubborn back in the day. On Halloween revisits I'd skip 3, but now it's one of my favorites in the franchise, even if it feels odd. I have the 3 masks beside me actually! 😂

lol you mentioned Night of the Creeps.........now you have to do a reaction to it. I agree "Thrill Me" is one of the best quotes......I've used it every day since I saw it. It is sad though how no one knows where that quote came from.
Personally, I’ve never heard this one referred or suggested as a Christmas movie, it just happens around Christmas time. The fourth movie is the absolute best in the bunch. It’s a wild wild ride.
Lots of people have told me it's a Christmas movie and it's on all those yearly "10 Christmas Movies to Watch" lists, but this will be there and Die Hard always has a "but this is debatable whether it's a Christmas movie or not". Either both are or both aren't lol
Although it's certainly very dark at times it is a good film. They may be chalk and cheese but the film does a good job of bringing the characters together and showing the audience what makes them tick. It did make me laugh when I heard Riggs say at one point what happened, did the stock market crash? The irony is that the stock market did crash the year of release. Lethal Weapon 2 has to be my favourite. Even though I'm now humming Silver Shamrock because you mentioned Halloween III, I liked the reaction. Cheers
Oh crap.. I just realized... Now you have to react to "Loaded Weapon 1" A very funny spoof on Lethal Weapon.. and it stars Emilio Estevez and Samuel L. Jackson.. also starring people like William Shatner, Tim Curry, Kathy Ireland... and also a Bunch of cameos!! Plz react Jay... you will LOVE!
MERRY CHRISTMAS JAY!!!!!!! One Christmas movie I think you would love is "THE BISHOPS WIFE" The year was 1948 or 1949 with Cary Grant,David Niven and Loretta Young. GOD BLESS ALL HERE!!!!!!
I recently re-watched the series and it really is a good series. The rest of the movies each have something memorable about them and they bring in new characters that add to the dynamic between Riggs and Murtaugh. I saw someone mention Shane Black and his other Christmas movie (which is really good), but he was also starred in Predator, he played Hawkins. Such a classic buddy cop movie. Both LW 2 and 3 are well worth the watch if for no other reason than the chemistry between Mel and Danny. The action in those is just as good maybe even better. Yea it is sad that Gary Busey declined after his accident. His early movies show such promise as a good actor for many years to come. I think he was nominated for several awards for his portrayal of Buddy Holly. Anyway hope to see you react to the sequels.

it is good so are the others there was a mistake in here hardly anyone see's is when riggs goes to martins house to eat the first time martin is driving his car and when riggs leaves he gets in his truck to drive away.
Great reaction. I needed that after watching the movie given a ridiculous reaction by another "bigger" reactor. Everyone needs to turn on the app showing the number of dislikes - this has zero. Your small channel will get much bigger - keep it up.
Thank you so much. I'm not personally a fan of the over the top reactions but I can understand the appeal. I try to keep it fairly chill without any overacting. It doesn't often get the views of the bigger channels, but I'm cool with that. Slow and consistent for me. Appreciate the support.
Personally i do not find why Die Hard is considered one by people but not this..Die hard is based during Christmas time but outside of an office Christmas party big whoop.. same with this one..Mel is doing a bust at a Christmas Tree lot and their home has Christmas Decorations and tree and such...why is it not basically the same.
Nope, haven't seen that one but it is on my list for reactions. I know some of the characters/character names because I watched the King of the Nerds reality show which is hosted by two of the stars, but not familiar with any of the situations at all.
Nice, thanks! Point Break is on my list but Under Siege and Rookie of the Year I have seen, just so long ago. I used to love Rookie of the Year! Really wonder if I got Nick Nolte and Gary Busey mixed up when I was young. Haha
@@JayBondReacts The movie 'Chasers' is also a pretty good movie that has Gary Busey in it. It was the last movie directed by Dennis Hopper because it flopped at the box office. It's starring Tom Berenger and the girl that pops out the cake in Under Siege. I always liked the movie because it took place in South Carolina between Charleston and Myrtle Beach where we used to vacation when I was a kid so very nostalgic to see the old sights from the early 90s these days.
You must not have caught the part where Danny Glover told them when they pulled up on the lawn the police that is don't do anyting I'm such and such I'll take full responsibility so that's why the cops didn't do anything because he said that and that's why they continue to fight to the death rewind that part and watch it
Jay, looking forward to your reactions to the rest of this franchise, 2 thru 4. 5 is currently being filmed or maybe is now in post production with Gibson as the director. Richard Donner, who directed the first 4, died around a year ago. He was originally attached to 5 but when his health started to wain, he made Mel promise to finish the film. I also would like to make a suggestion/request to have you react to not necessarily the entire franchise, as it is a long one, but would love if you reacted to at least some James Bond films. Not really interested in as much in the Daniel Craig films but would love to see some of the better Connery and Moore films or maybe the one Lazenby, Dalton or Bronson films. IMHO, the best Connery films are Goldfinger and You Only Live Twice. I personally like the remake of Thunderball that Kevin McClurey did in 1983, Never Say Never Again more than Thunderball for various reasons. Moore's best films were The Spy Who Loved Me and For Your Eyes Only IMHO. Bronson's best was his first, Goldeneye, with the weakest being Die Another Day. Both of Dalton's film were strong.
There is noway i would call crime movies a christmas movie because it happened around christmas! Christmas are for kids to keep them happy not to teach them crime
Horror. Haha I guess not exclusively, but just different movies. Comic book oriented movies like Tank Girl, Steel, Barb Wire, etc. I spent more time reading comics than watching movies.
Love Sleepaway Camp! Back in highschool I could quote that word for word. 😂 Fun fact, I've had drinks with and partied with Felissa Rose (Angela) a few times! She's the best.

(check out additional "Mr Sniper Sir" Scene, don't know why it's not on regular version)
Do love the effect of the shot through the egg nog
it is good so are the others there was a mistake in here hardly anyone see's is when riggs goes to martins house to eat the first time martin is driving his car and when riggs leaves he gets in his truck to drive away.
I love this franchise. IMO, the second film is the best one.
Excellent. Love to hear that. I'll be chipping away at this franchise for sure.
Gary Busey was in a motorcycle accident that left him with a permanent brain injury. So not sure the term "crazy" is the appropriate term.
all 4 lethal weapon movies are great
At least Jay's not too old for this shit. 😆
make sure you watch the rest soon there all great also can't wait till number 5 comes out also rip Richard Donner
He entire series is good.
The guy in the red checkered shirt that takes Riggs hostage is the father of Anthony Keidas from the red hot chili peppers
No way, that's pretty cool!
@@JayBondReacts yea he was I guess you call him a D list actor. Mostly just background stuff. This is the only speaking roll I've seen him in.
Another good Bucey movie is Under Siege with Steven Segal
Great reaction.
I needed that after watching the movie given a ridiculous reaction by another "bigger" reactor.
Everyone needs to turn on the app showing the number of dislikes - this has zero.
Your small channel will get much bigger - keep it up.
Thank you so much. I'm not personally a fan of the over the top reactions but I can understand the appeal. I try to keep it fairly chill without any overacting. It doesn't often get the views of the bigger channels, but I'm cool with that. Slow and consistent for me. Appreciate the support.
To see the best "get the flock outta here" dad joke... Watch Porky's 2... Hilarious
i dont call either one a christmas movie there just police events that happen around christmas! christmas movies is for giving not killing!
Since you also like doing a few spoofs, you should check out the spoof of this film Loaded Weapon, its brilliant!
Personally i do not find why Die Hard is considered one by people but not this..Die hard is based during Christmas time but outside of an office Christmas party big whoop.. same with this one..Mel is doing a bust at a Christmas Tree lot and their home has Christmas Decorations and tree and such...why is it not basically the same.
funny you mention gta 5 one the apartment locations in gta online is the Nakatomi Plaza from die hard
Amazing movie the sequels are fantastic too!
Have you seen the Revenge of the Nerds movies?
Nope, haven't seen that one but it is on my list for reactions. I know some of the characters/character names because I watched the King of the Nerds reality show which is hosted by two of the stars, but not familiar with any of the situations at all.
@@JayBondReacts the 1st one is iconic it's always been one of my favorites from the 80s definitely check them out sequel is funny too
I think this more of an action movie around Christmas 🎄 🤔
Awesome movie. But I can never take the phrase "Go spit" seriously.
Awesome review
Thank you!
Have you seen Point Break? It stars Busey at his finest.
Haven't seen that one, but it's on my list! A few other people have recommended that as well, which is a great sign!
@@JayBondReacts Honestly, it's so good, and it's aged really well.
Mel Gibson is from Australia I believe.
Other good Gary Busey movies you need to check out are Point Break, Under Siege and Rookie of the Year. 😎🤙🏻
Great! You're going to be meeting Leo Gets soon OK OK OK OK 😂Anything you need Leo Gets.
Soon I will understand this comment. Hahaha
More content would be amazing ,there are all highly entertaining
The sequels, even when they go down in quality, would still definitely have enough to react to for a video.
The sequels DON'T GO down in quality.
Cheese 80's Gary Busy film (1986) Eye of the Tiger.
Right on, thanks!
There is noway i would call crime movies a christmas movie because it happened around christmas! Christmas are for kids to keep them happy not to teach them crime
Please watch back to school you will love it
I don't know what he's worried about I am 54 and my beard is completely grey
My friend's dad went completely grey at 30 and I grew up always thinking it was cool. It's distinguished haha
What the heck were you watching growing up?
Horror. Haha I guess not exclusively, but just different movies. Comic book oriented movies like Tank Girl, Steel, Barb Wire, etc. I spent more time reading comics than watching movies.
Really cool xmas movie no one is reacting to: Reindeer Games.
I almost did a reaction to that one, but decided on It's a Wonderful Life which will be coming out later. That was on my shortlist though.
If you have not seen Sleepaway Camp 1983 you would like it. its Horror but its comical.
Love Sleepaway Camp! Back in highschool I could quote that word for word. 😂 Fun fact, I've had drinks with and partied with Felissa Rose (Angela) a few times! She's the best.
@@JayBondReacts you are so lucky lol. shes fun. .
Great movie.
