Completely agree. Other franchises might hit higher highs, but they also hit lower lows. You won't find an action franchise with more consistent quality that LW 1-4.
All four are indeed hits… all commercial successes… honestly it’s a great franchise because each movie had a different tone somewhat, along with the same reliable tropes that make all of them great; the same tropes that also help the individual films, blend together in to the greater, continuing story of the franchise. And because each film does have a different unique tone, it allows the audience to truly pick which one is their favorite or most liked; for me, despite the story relevance, I didn’t care for #3, save for some parts… and besides #1, my second favorite is #4, but that’s also because it features one my favorite actors of all time, as the main villain- so I’m biased there.
I love 1, 2, 3, and 4... Part 4 gets hated on too much, it was fun with the introduction of Chris Rock into the franchise, and Joe Pesci brought me to tears at the end with his little story, and it was the introduction of Jet Li to American audiences and his first time playing a villain and he was great!
Lethal Weapon is only one movie. One movie with four chapters. Each chapter progresses the character development. Even new characters. The story is not complete until you have watched all four chapters.
Yeah I will admit four maybe the weakest link but it's still a good movie and really also integral to the story. It gives you an end to their history. It's almost like trying to watch the Lord of the rings movies without return of the King
The golden standard of the buddy cop genre in the 1980s and 1990s. First of 2 films in the same year from screenwriter Shane Black. Also the quintessential film series of the late, great filmmaker Richard Donner. Gibson & Glover play the perfect polar opposites. Their personalities define the tones that make the franchise so good. As different as Riggs & Murtaugh may be, they take down the bad guys with the utmost kick-a** effort. The action is top notch with the best stunts and sequences made at the time. The score is by Michael Kamen with saxophonist Dave Koz and rock legend on guitar, Eric Clapton. Each piece of the score represents the story so well. Yes please. Watch the 3 sequels. It's all worth it. Lethal Weapon 5 aka Lethal Finale is indeed in the works. To be directed by Mel Gibson, taking over for the late Donner.
a little fun Easter Egg fact in this film at the 18:06 mark of this reaction the "Air America" Line was not just a real Shady C.I.A Operation there is an Air America Movie all about it Staring Guess Who.... "Mel Gibson"
Nice reaction ladiess. Just a little FYI. Gary Busey's character is Mr. Joshua (last name). McCallister is his boss' name. No spoilers, but the sequels are worth a watch. Especially if you get invested in the characters. There will be additions to the cast and pretty good action/adventure story lines. Oh and Abby, don't know if you've ever heard this (maybe too much before your time?) but you look a little like and really have some of the same facial expressions and voice inflections as Holly Hunter. Anyway good job on your reactions both of you.
The Chinese henchman is Aki Aleong, aka Al Leong. He's a former stuntman and veteran of numerous action films. He is now retired after suffering a stroke. He is doing much better now. I felt he deserved a mention.
Max, channel manager, here. Aki was the greatest henchman ever. Nowadays he passed that baton to Tait Fletcher, who is just as great. Aki must be proud. Toy and Abby already saw Tait in The Accountant (coming to Patreon soon) and Abby also saw him with Hannah in John Wick (also coming to Patreon soon).
I can't wait. You gotta do all the sequels. LW movies are the rare type of movie that just keeps getting better. That, you guys, is very rare. For me that only happened with Lethal Weapon and Die Hard. (Up until the trilogy though. The rest is a joke, if you'd ask me. Die Hard With A Vengeance is the last and final (real) sequal. To me at least.
Murtaugh tells Riggs that Hunsacker saved his life in Vietnam at Ia Drang in 1965. In 2002 Mel Gibson did a true story movie about the real Battle of Ia Drang where he played the real life Lieutenant Colonel Hal Moore called "We Were Soldiers", based on the book "We Were Soldiers Once . . . And Young" by General Hal Moore and reporter Joe Galloway.
Ladies Mel Gibson is planning to film final Lethal Weapon (No.5). So, movie is in preproduction. Lethal Weapon's franchise's original director, Richard Donner was scheduled to direct 5th one until he died in 2020. Fact is that Mel is an excellent director with such hits as Hacksaw Ridge.
The first 4 are just awesome. They get better each time because they introduce a new character each time, and they get more funny, while still being actions with a good plot. You'll love 'em.
@@blueeyedcowboy8291 Didn't know that. I looked it up and I'm going top be very wait and see, given how different the story is bound to be with them being two retirees. No Richard Donner this time either.
Did you know the Murtaugh house is Clark Griswold’s neighbor’s house in Christmas Vacation. The houses are in a studio in Los Angeles California. The sequels are all worth watching
Max here: a few days ago Toy and I went to the movies to see the re-release of Die Hard. When the scene came up I realized that I missed the opportunity of bringing some Crunch bars to the movies, to eat at the perfect moment. Maybe we'll get some candy bars for when Abby does a reaction to Die Hard.
🤯 Max, channel manager, here. You're so right. Toy and Hannah have recently watched the first Rambo movie (reaction on our Patreon now). Abby has yet to watch it, but she has a frame of reference after hearing Sly make fun of the character in Tango and Cash (reaction also on our Patreon).
In my opinion this film series is one of few that were able to keep the two main characters with the same actors along with Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and Star Wars (somewhat) etc.
5:40 ish...Riggs was NOT on coke. He tricked the dealers using an illusion so he could try to get 'the drop' (old fashioned term for HIS controlled surprise of them).

Great Reaction to this Awesome Movie..... Whole Series (4 Movies) are Great, Excellent World Building..... Lethal Weapon is a Christmas Movie!!!...... Only Lethal Weapon 1 happens at Christmas....... So can watch the others at any time.... There are additional scenes in the Director's cut that give more to Riggs's mindset at the beginning of the movie.... I see there is another comment about the original script....... - Mel Gibson (Riggs) Mel plays this role in 4 movies, He plays Max Max in 3 movies, Plays other Great Characters Benjamin Martin in "The Patriot", William Wallace in "Braveheart", - Danny Glover (Roger Murtaugh) starts the Movie series at age 41 playing a 50 year old cop, Played in "The Color Purple" - Gary Busey (Mr Joshua) Also played in "Point Break", - Grand L Bush Played in Lethal Weapon 1 & 2, Played FBI Agent Johnson in Die Hard, - Al Leong (Endo) Also played the Gunman that "Stole" the candybar in Die Hard, He plays a henchman in alot of 1980's Action Movies....... - Mary Ellen Trainor (Phyciatrist) continues the role through multiple Lethal Weapon Movies, Played Newscaster in Die Hard

All four. They are all good. With just a couple of exceptions, all four are better than anything coming out today. Are they formulaic? Certainly. There is nothing wrong with copying good. A lot of movies today could learn a lot from that.
Dirty Harry / Clint Eastwood started the modern Cop anti hero action trend in 1971 . Lethal Weapon is one of my all time favorite series. There was once a DVD extended version where instead of the scene with Riggs in the Christmas tree lot, an arguably darker scene existed where he takes on a sniper and basically begged him to kill him but the sniper misses and Riggs doesn't.
General Macalestor or rather the actor played Jim Carey's boss in the movie Liar Liar. Also the fight scene at the end was basically put in to show why Riggs was a Lethal Weapon. Not just with guns but hand to hand combat. Every movie after gets better
Shane Black likes to set his action movies around Christmas. Try "The Long Kiss Goodnight" (1996) w/ Geena Davis, Samuel L. Jackson, & Brian Cox. he also wrote "Iron Man 3", which was also set at Christmas.
Max here: Toy and Abby just got introduced to Shane Black in his capacity as an actor a few days ago... Their reaction to Predator will be landing on Patreon soon. 😸
In 1968, I was sent TDY (temporary duty) from S. Viet. (Tet Offensive) on a classified assignment (Operation Combat Fox) to Teague, S. Korea in response to the hi-jacking of the USS Pueblo by N. Korea. On completion of our assignment, we were ordered to return to S. Viet. individually. I & 4 or 5 other troops managed to hitch a ride on Air America (CIA's cover airlines) from Teague, S. Korea to Tokyo, Japan on one of their corp. jets. In Tokyo, we booked ourselves into the Tokyo Hilton until we ran out of money. As mentioned in this movie, Air America was a legitimate international airlines used to get undercover CIA agents & goods into foreign countries. Mel Gibson made a movie with Robert Downey, Jr. called "Air America". We managed to catch a C-141 transport jet from Tokyo to Phu Kat, S. Viet. arriving in country on the last day of the month in order to qualify for our extra combat pay for that entire month. We had to wait for the V.C. to stop shelling the base before catching another ride to our final destination.
Ok Xmas movies. First lethal weapon is great next is die hard is also and last but not least is the long kiss goodnight and now you have it. You ladies are also great. So please watch all three you will love them 😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
3:41-3:46 It's California... It's the 80s. So many in the current teen to 20s generation think they invented "Sun's out buns out" Fun fact 18:06-18:08 "Air America" is also a 1990 movie starring Robert Downey, Jr. and Mel Gibson, which could conceivably tie in with this reference (although Mel Gibson definitely is not the same character in that film) 22:35-22:45 And this, is how you know Martin Riggs doesn't skip "Leg Day" 26:30-26:35 "You're supposed to be an expert in some" 'Mr. Joshua' is special forces turned mercenary, Riggs is special forces turned police officer. (remember they have the same tattoo, and what Riggs said it meant?) In theory this means they likely have similar training history. It's like saying that the greatest boxer on the planet can't be challenged by another boxer, not even the second best boxer in the world. Also, remember Riggs has been exerting himself quite a bit over the last several hours, so probably isn't quite as "rested and ready" Factor in the environment, changing lighting, and which one is upset versus which one is keeping emotions somewhat in check. Being a mercenary, 'Mr. Joshua' has probably had more recent experience being unleashed in fighting, while Riggs had packed all that in, and had settled into life as a police officer (until his wife died when he started going off the rails). 27:02-27:19 [See above when I referenced "leg day"] "This is not a Hallmark Movie." This statement is very true. And if you thought "A Christmas Movie" would be "a Hallmark (type) Movie" with a title like "Lethal Weapon" [Or even "Die Hard"] you weren't thinking. It is definitely a Christmas Movie. It definitely isn't a Hallmark Movie. And I *ho ho ho ho* hope you enjoy the rest of the franchise.
"Mel Gibson is good, but he isn't that good"....ummm, yes, he really is that good. Pretty much every movie he has been involved with as an actor or director is good.
In my opinion, all four Lethal Weapons are a must. As for the Die Hards, one two and three are top notch, the fourth is a little less good but still very entertaining, while the fifth is a complete train wreck. :)
Abby, Arnold is the one who is a bodybuilder with the Austrian accent and Sly is the Italian-American who is shorter and talks mostly from his left mouth because of a paralysis from when he was born. Well now would be perfect for Abby to watch Die Hard since it's almost Christmas ;) And Toy, Mitchell Ryan (The General) you might have seen in Liar, Liar and Dharma & Greg. The 2nd movie is a great continuation, the 3rd movie is good also and the 4th movie is the weakest in the series, not bad, but it wasn't that strong.
Ahhh yes!!! That's where I was seeing his face in my mind!!! Thank you so much! It was bothering me for a while that I couldn't put my finger in it. 😊😊❤
There are _four_ Lethal Weapon movies, and _five_ Die Hard movies. All four Lethal Weapon movies are good, even if I don't like Chris Rock very much (he's in #4) The first four Die Hard movies are good, but I'm not a fan of #2. Avoid #5 at all costs. #4 (Die Hard: Live Free or Die Hard) has Timothy Oliphant (Justified) as the villain. There was a TV series of Lethal Weapon; they had to change a few things in order to make it a series as opposed to a few movies. Riggs is now a former SEAL that served in Iraq & Afghanistan. I enjoyed it. Recommended for your personal viewing. Riggs had trouble with Joshua since they're both highly trained in unarmed combat. ... None (spoiler) of the other Lethal Weapon movies occur during Christmas.
All 5 were box office hits, although, everyone has their favorite. Like the Die Hard series, none of them are bad movies, just with technology, some get better.
oh, in the beginning, he didn't snort the cocaine, he put a tiny bit on his gums to see if they went numb. Mel didn't get high, he was just a nut job and acting crazy.

The characters age and mature over the movie series and LW-4 is the most sentimental one of the series. My guess has always been that fans of action films dislike this change of tone. However, Lethal Weapon 4 includes Jet Li as a villain. Jet Li !
Toy and Tori were recently introduced to Her Li in Unleashed. That reaction is now on our Patreon. There will definitely be more Jet Li movie reactions. 😸

Best buddy cop movie franchise out there! Many tried to copy them after theyr success, many failed. I would say Rush Hour is the only ones that came close. I believe the secret is Mel & Dannys chemistry on and off screen,it never fades. Even when they reunited for one award show several decades later as theyr characters,to honor someone else. I love those 2,undoubtedly the best buddies on screen in movie history! You believe in the drama,as both are very dramatic actors, you believe in the comedy as both has tons of comedic abilities, you believe in the storyline. You laugh, cry with them and get sucked into theyr story. Like i said, these movies are tense and dramatic enough to where you dont know if everyone you love will survive, and on the other side is the comedy soo good, you will laugh over and over each time you re-watch them. Making you forget about the seriousness in the situation...... at least for a little while. It never gets too much of either of those sides of the movies, making them perfectly balanced and entertaining.
Thanks so much for watching with us! This movie was so fun! Our friend Verowak Reacts just watched Rush Hour. I think you would enjoy her reaction video.

Ho ho ho. Watch all 4! All 4 are really good! It's one of my favorite film series
Ok Xmas movies. First lethal weapon is great next is die hard is also and last but not least is the long kiss goodnight and now you have it. You ladies are also great. So please watch all three you will love them 😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
This Rabbit 🐇 Hole is a definite must finish lotsa gems 💎 in this franchise
A movie for New Year's Eve:
"Survivor" (2015) w/ Milla Jovovich & Pierce Brosnan
just watching the bundled up kitty cat is so happy, just cuddling away. 14:38
Boo 😺 is the real star of our show.
Btw there are 4 not 5, but Mel Gibson is in progress of making a 5th now.
The sequels keep getting better.
He made like he eat the coke but it only looked like he did.
Merry Christmas you guys run to the movies
Merry Christmas and have a happy new year!!😊😊❤
3:41-3:46 It's California... It's the 80s. So many in the current teen to 20s generation think they invented "Sun's out buns out"
Fun fact 18:06-18:08 "Air America" is also a 1990 movie starring Robert Downey, Jr. and Mel Gibson, which could conceivably tie in with this reference (although Mel Gibson definitely is not the same character in that film)
22:35-22:45 And this, is how you know Martin Riggs doesn't skip "Leg Day"
26:30-26:35 "You're supposed to be an expert in some"
'Mr.
27:02-27:19 [See above when I referenced "leg day"]
"This is not a Hallmark Movie."
This statement is very true.
Loved the reaction and yes you should continue with series all 4 Lethal Weapon films are 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks so much!!
@@RuntotheMovies 👌👍
Thank you so much!!! Glad you enjoyed it and I look forward to seeing them 😊😊😊❤❤❤
EACH SEQUEL GETS BETTER....
In my opinion, all four Lethal Weapons are a must. As for the Die Hards, one two and three are top notch, the fourth is a little less good but still very entertaining, while the fifth is a complete train wreck. :)
There are 4 Lethal weapon movie's and 5 Die Hards they are all good.Merry Christmas 🎅🎅☃️☃️🇬🇧
Merry Christmas! 🎄☃️
Merry Christmas you two. After this, follow the sequels.
Merry Christmas!!
Abby, Arnold is the one who is a bodybuilder with the Austrian accent and Sly is the Italian-American who is shorter and talks mostly from his left mouth because of a paralysis from when he was born.
Well now would be perfect for Abby to watch Die Hard since it's almost Christmas ;)
And Toy, Mitchell Ryan (The General) you might have seen in Liar, Liar and Dharma & Greg.
@@toy4871 😉🙂❤️💕
Christmas in the 1980s hit different.
Great job ladies! This was fun to watch! 🎉
yes all the lethal weapon and all the die hard movies are good that is if you like crime and fast paced movies
Lethal Weapon is always fun😃
There are _four_ Lethal Weapon movies, and _five_ Die Hard movies.
All four Lethal Weapon movies are good, even if I don't like Chris Rock very much (he's in #4)
The first four Die Hard movies are good, but I'm not a fan of #2.
Editor's note: we are planning on continuing with both Lethal Weapon and Die Hard movies. I hope you'll enjoy those videos as well.
He is the Lethal weapon because he has no care in the world for his own safety.
Lethal weopen 5 is in the works for one more time looking at coming out late 2024 or 2025 in theaters
All four are hits. Please watch
Ho (1)
Ho (2)
Ho (3)
Ho (4)
I've heard Ho (5) could be in the works 😊 hope so
Happy Holidays! ❤
Happy Holidays! ♥️
Happy holidays to you also!!! And happy new year!
Die Hard is so similar and so different. I would say it’s similar only in retrospect.
IM TOO HIGH FOR THIS REACTION.
I DO LOVE ME SOME TOY
🤣🤣🤣
Lol, stay blazin' my fellow stoner 😊😊😊😊❤💚💚💚💚. And much love to you always!
best one liner in the world, what did one sheppard say to the other sheppard lets get the flock out of here riggs- leathle weapon

whats the diffrence between snowmen and snowwomen snowballs- agnus brown- mrs browns boys t.v. show
The general actor was the father in Dharma and Gregg ^^
Let's go!! They get better every time. Yall keep up the great work much love from Oklahoma
I'm looking forward to seeing them 😊❤. Also sending love from all of us here as well 😊😊😊❤
The characters age and mature over the movie series and LW-4 is the most sentimental one of the series.
Hey, Max, how are doing. I miss seeing you. I like the lovely ladies but you weren't all the bad to look at. Merry Christmas to you all and to Boo especially.
@@michaelg2529 thanks so much for your kind words. We're actually considering editing some of our older videos that aren't on RUclips, so I may make another appearance.
Ho ho ho ho. All are a least 4 out of 5 stars. I’m my opinion, 2 and 4 are the best. 5 is theoretically about to be released into theatres.
Well, all the sequels are just as good or better. You watch them... you'll see.
Y'all be safe and have a wonderful Christmas or whatever holiday you celebrate.
@@RuntotheMovies you are very welcome sweeties. If you enjoyed this first one that much, they up the tempo on the good stuff in the 2nd one. And thank you for the tip of the Rush Hour reaction,i always love seeing people seeing it for the first time!
Merry Christmas for one of the action Christmas films
Toy & Abby
If both of you wanted to see and react Christmas with director of Lethal Weapon movie series. Try Scrooged with Bill Murray and Karen Allen directed by Richard Donner. Scrooged is true Christmas movie.
Bill Murray is the man!!! I most definitely will check that out!
Merry Christmas ⛄ Everyone 😊 & As Always Love Seeing Your Reactions To All These Great Movie's 😊
♥️🎄 Merry Christmas!
Hope you had an amazing Christmas and have a wonderful new year!!!😊❤
the second one is at least as good as the first. lethal weapon 3 and 4 are worth watching, but less suspenseful. they go in a humorous direction later in the franchise. definitely watch lethal weapon 2, and by then you'll know if you want to see the others.
Always loved this movie, I remember watching it as a kid. Great reaction ladies!👍🏻❤️
It was great! I'm kicking myself for not watching it sooner, but I'm glad I got to watch it here with everyone 😊😊😊❤. This movie was definitely a lot of fun and I look forward to seeing the others 😊
This movie was before Gary Busey got into a motorcycle accident and got brain damage
Anyone catch that lil Easter 🥚 at 18:08 starring Gibson and Downey jr also a great movie 🎥
Maybe we'll have a reaction to it one day as well... 😸
You guys were super fun and I can't wait to see more!
Thank you so much!!! Glad you enjoyed it
Well, well, well.......hellooooooo again, Abby
Watch all four Lethal Weapon movies!
❤❤❤❤
Watch them all
❤❤❤❤ I'm looking forward to it!!!
Check out Gary Busey in the werewolf movie SILVER BULLET (1985).
