One thing I liked about the movie series is that they kept the same actors and actresses as Murtaughs family. So you got to see these kids grow up like the Cosby show.
YES! I ran through the series again last year and was thinking the same! Makes it more real
Not just the family either. But the same Supporting characters outside of the family
@@rxtsec1 That's true! Same Captain, same Staff Psychologist. And, lest we forget, the City of LA is very much a character.
Same director, same producer and crew. It’s a huge Lethal family!
Wonderful analogy between Danny Glover and Bill Cosby there. 🤣
“She’s watching the same movie I’m watching…. Crazy don’t die that easily…” 😂😂😂 Love your reactions and commentary
The way Riggs acted, suicidal, depressed, frustrated. I feel that. I could relate. I felt like that for a long time. He's not really crazy. He's frustrated and trying to laugh it off just makes you seem crazy.
It felt very real the first time I watched this.
✌️
Mel Gibson was really able to get a lot across with three seconds of facial expressions.
Absolutely. He was fighting depression and grief. He wasn't crazy at all. You could argue that maybe he should have been placed on extended leave. It seems the psychologist understood that. But the job was all he had and taking that away from him would have drove him over the edge. All he needed was a supportive partner and a friend. Sgt. Murtaugh saved him.
I believe when Riggs honestly answered no to the question of do you like my wife's cooking is what solidified their friendship. Roger knew Martin was going to be honest with him no matter what.
Yup.
Gary Busey was also in Point Break. And the helicopters blades can dip while in motion, so some people have been killed by not ducking or if a strong wing causes a dip of the blades .
Excellent movie that must be on his watch list!
OMG the dog talking in lower case was the most adorable thing I've ever seen lol.
'And this man went on to make The Passion Of The Christ.'
Man, it was right there the whole time. Well played. That was not only good, but you came right back with that one with a quickness.
Good reaction! Danny Glover was playing 50 but he was actually 40 years old. But he fooled the director at some point too who thought he was making this old guy run so much 😂😂. Mel Gibson was 30 and believe it or not, the girl playing Glover’s daughter was not 16 but 27 years old! They fooled all of us!
And Riggs was 38,they were just all over the place with the ages. It’s almost like they purposely had as many people playing the wrong ages as possible. The dog was 137 playing maybe 4😂
Danny Glover was 39 when he filmed Lethal Weapon. Damn that makes me feel old
The jumping scene is VERY similar to Crocodile Dundee - another GREAT comedy that you should react to if you haven't already
This is one of most consistent series. All 4 of them are excellent and build on eachother.
I am so glad you got to Lethal Weapon! The whole series is perfect 80's action/buddy cop movie. They get better and better and the stunt work is amazing. When you watch it remember, its all practical effects, real stunt people, real work. Mind blowing!
Exactly! Totally agree with you 100 percent!! Practical effects, real stunts, lots of 80s action!
Well.. 1 & 2 a bit above 3 & 4?
@@dallesamllhals9161 ...yes... But 3 and 4 are still a really good time!
Their chemistry is the stuff of legend. I know you'll like the sequels, especially part 2.
It's really good when you can really hate everthing about the villain.
Lethal Weapon 2 is the best one out of the series.
25:02 'Shut up!'
25:23 Who are you, Keyser Söze...?
26:18 I really like the scene where Riggs runs away from the car and the camera follows him.
29:11 "There's no more heroes left in the world..."
Hell yeah. All time classic, I know you'll love it.
Man, I miss being a 90s kid consuming 80's media every day. I didn't know how lucky I was. Most stuff is just so self-aware and dour in comparison these days.
9:04 Jay says "She's watching the same movie I'm watching" and I crack up.
Romulus is such a good boy, I love that little dude.
Yay!! This movie series is one of my favorites!! I can't wait to see your reaction to all of them! Mel and Danny are a match made in heaven!
Man! What a funny sound that dog in the bed makes. Not loud ear shattering barks I can’t stand. So cool.
Helicopter blades tilt up and down and can dip below 5 or 6 feet, so it actually is possible to get hit by one on the ground. It’s a legit safety measure to duck when entering or exiting a helicopter when the blades are spinning.
The chemistry between Gibson and Glover was so natural. Their dialogue was the heart of the movie. The best buddy cop film of all time. The whole series is great. You'll love the sequels.
You can’t go to war in a sweater vest.
Best piece of advice anyone will ever get.
You enjoyed this one and it was a pleasure to watch the video.
Fun Fact: Hunsacker says that he was part of CIA operation called Air America. In 1990 Mel Gibson starred in a film named "Air America" as a pilot. Quite good anf fun film.
They are All great films. I think you will deeply enjoy them all! Loved seeing this one and look forwards to the next one.
I think one thing people don’t know nowadays is this is pretty much where the cop buddy movie genre started. A lot of people may have seen this style of film before but they have to realize when we saw it on screen, it was fresh, new and took the industry by storm.
"Lethal Weapon: People doesn't see the shadows"- original movie title
A fun awesome buddy cop action comedy film!
Before Mel Gibson was cast as Martin Riggs, Patrick Swayze, John Travolta, Bruce Willis, William Hurt, Mickey Rourke, Robert DeNiro, Sylvester Stallone, Kurt Russell, Christopher Lambert (Lamb bear) Jeff Bridges, Richard Gere, Charlie Sheen, Tom Cruise, and Christopher Reeve were considered.
Before Danny Glover was cast as Roger Murtaugh, Jack Nicholson, Clint Eastwood, Paul Newman, Al Pacino, Warren Beatty, Richard Dreyfuss, Brian Dennehy, and Robert Duvall were considered.
Before Gary Busey was cast as Joshua, David Bowie, Christopher Walken, James Woods and John Lithgow were considered.
Before Mitchell Ryan played the villainous Gen. Peter McAllister, Lee Marvin, Bruce Dern, James Earl Jones, Richard Jordan and Peter Boyle were considered.
I'd definitely pay to go see the Kurt Russell, Robert Duvall, John Lithgow and Lee Marvin version.
Wow! Thanks for the info!
One of the best lines I've ever heard: 7:44 "The land where he grew his F's is bare"
The crazy thing about that scene, where the house explodes; I literally lived a block and a half way, when they blew up that house. It was just up the street from my elementary school, Moffet Elementary School.
“I betcha that whole house smells like pink lotion”🧴 🤣🤣🤣. I’m hollerin’ over here 🤣🤣🤣🤣
“I bet that whole house smell like Pink Lotion.” Lol I laughed.
The Shadow Company guys really did think Riggs was dead. But these men are professional soldiers so they plan for all types of contingencies.
In their time they have probably lost count of all the ambushes they have set up for other people. So given where they were meeting Murtaugh in the desert it’s not hard for them to figure out an ideal area for a sniper to be held up.
It just took the General at least 3 shots to figure out where Riggs was hiding.
Fun fact, the captain from this movie was in Predator 2 with Danny Glover. He was one of the street cops in the opening scene where they were having that huge gun battle with the drug gang.
His name is Steve Kahan. He is Director Richard Donner's cousin, and has been in several of his movies.
Glad you liked this movie, Murder Whistle! The chemistry between Gibson and Glover was the reason people kept coming back for the sequels. Also a little trivia tidbit: director Franco Zeffirelli was so impressed by Gibson's acting in the attempted suicide scene that he cast Gibson as Hamlet alongside loads of heavyweight Shakespearean actors.
I like that we got both pups chillin on top of the covers in the beginning
J, it is so gracious of Romulus to let you feature so prominently on his channel.
LMAO So true!! 🤣🤣🤣
This series of movie just get better and funnier as they go I'm looking forward to seeing you react to the other 3
Vic Morrow, the actor who starred in a 60's TV show called "Combat", got beheaded while filming for the movie version of "Twilight Zone". That's why people duck.
33:45 "You done killed 97 people! What's one more gonna hurt??" LOL
According to Gary Busey himself he actually did the lighter under his arm & I believe him, I wouldn't be suprised if he actually did that! Even before he became nuts after his motorcycle accident, he seems to have always been a wild person. He once said that he accidently spilled his coke on his dog & he snorted all of it from his dog. The dog had been rolling on beach sand so not only did Gary snort the coke, he also snorted sand & bugs from the dog too!
5 minutes in and you make a Luster's Pink Lotion reference.. bro I swear to God you're a trip and a half 🤣
Don't worry about the jump scare when Dixie's house blew up. You were watching that on a small screen, imagine that in a full-size theater which is where I originally saw it for the first time
I'm a few days late but Danny Glover was actually 40 years old during the filming of Letheal Weapon! 🤣
The hilarious thing is that Danny Glover wasn’t even 50 when he did this film. He was only 41 while making this one. How crazy is that! When they did that Lethal Weapon show a few years ago, Damon Wayans was already pushing 60 when he played Murtaugh.
Danny Glover is old in this movie the way Tommy Lee Jones was old in the Fugitive.
Pink Lotion, haha!!!! I got the scent in my nose immediately. Favorite channel J, for real. I hope you watch all 4 movies, this is a great movie franchise.
When the house exploded, you jumped so hard you shook the camera! Your jump was also contagious because I jumped! And you were talking so much stuff about how Danny Glover ran you had me crying I was laughing so hard! 🤣 🤣 🤣 Thanks for another great reaction! NIGHT NIGHT! 😁👊
Ah the greatest buddy cop movies.
Back when Mel was on top of the world
lethal weapon is the end all be all for me. the whole series nails it, the chemistry between Gibson and glover is magic
A couple of other really good, buddy cop movies are, "Point Break" w/Keanu Reeves, Gary Busey, & Patrick Swayze. That one, and "48 Hours" w/Eddie Murphy & Nick Nolte........This one, kinda anyway, as one's a con. lol
You're right, Gary Busey is genuinely crazy
Oh yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!
Give a person a reason to live who's lost everything, stay out of their way. Love this movie, and great reaction man 😂
I just showed someone this, and recently Terminator among many other movies they haven't seen. We are working our way through some great movies and this channel is reacting to some of the same stuff at the same time. Cool and always good content. Love the dogs, they are so smart. Lethal Weapon is one of my favorite classics. The always sunny episodes are funny too, especially the fact that they are playing Riggs and Murtaugh as if it's still 1987. What a time for movies and Lethal Weapon is just great.
you should be filming their reactions...
That money counting scene was awesome! 80, 90, 92, 95, lmfao he was straight crazy but still held onto his morals
21:39 - 21:42 Well i guess Captain Mainwaring isn't the only person to make that error.
Funny you mention being 41. Danny Glover was 41 when they filmed this in the summer of 1986.
LMAOOOO..lines that gave me the biggest laughs on this review:
"Are they in Detroit?"
"I bet that whole house smell like Pink Lotion"
"She's watchin' the same movie I'm watchin''
"Why did you have to call somebody?"
"Shut up! SHUT UP! I think I pee'd a little"
"Hey man, you can't go to war in a sweater vest though" and "He's about to go sniper in a Members Only jacket"
"You done killed 97 people...what's one more?"
Oh, a little Easter Egg: "Air America" is another MUST SEE Mel Gibson movie, co-starring Robert Downey Jr
A great MUST SEE action/cop movie with Gary Busey is POINT BREAK. Add it to the list, pleeeeaaase!
You can’t go to war in a sweater vest. You crack me up man.
10:43 How you not hear that baby talking to you?!😆💖🐕
What if... Gucci Man took his look from Alfred
😬😬😬
Gucci Man is Alfred 😂😂😂
5:30 "Funny but f'ed up" :D
14:46 I like that scene with their acting.
18:23 Haha :)
20:38 "Have a nice day."
“We’ll get a couple 1st class tickets to Detroit and lay low for a couple of weeks. What do you say?” 👀 I looked for you to finish that alley-oop and with authority.
My favorite Christmas movie! Thanks! Hi Co Pilots!
I've seen these movies so many times i can recite them word for word lol. The house blowing up makes me jump too😂😂😂
In one of the 4 movies Gibson & Glover look at each other and say, I'm too old for this shit.
5 you forgot Maverick.
@13:55 - Nice catch! I was going to call it out if you didn't.
I think they were supposed to be holding hands to give the illusion that the cuffs were still on or that the prop cuffs broke.
37:06 Don't be jealous about Danny Glover is this movie because he was really just 40 years old in ths film.
37:01 Danny Glower is just 10 years older that Mel Gibson.
Lethal Weapon was made three years before the Predator 2.
You should now watch the movie the Maverick (1994). :)
I love this series of films, every one of them. I’m looking forward to seeing you watch them and hopefully enjoy them as much as I did
Hahahahaha I was literally typing “nah Alfred is Kendrick Perkins” as you said it
Danny Glover was 39 when the was made. I'm 43 now, now I feel to old for this sh!t.
This has to be one of my favorite movie series I hope you continue watching them plus you're funny as hell
“Crazy don’t die that easy” LOL:
I’m gonna use that. Great video
I like how they sacrifice the 2 cops up front just so they could get to fight Joshua at the end.
You jumped like you were in a Kriss Kross video from '92 three different times. You saying when the first one happened after the house blows up, 'Quiet!' ...... 'Quiet!!'" That's my new ring tone, right there.
This is my first time watching you, first video reaction. You had me at that Passion Of The Christ quip. You are on so point, you got pitch-perfect comic timing, like crazy good. You know how to hold for laughs, just sit there and let the anticipation build and build of what you're going to say. You got 'coiled spring' down to a sweet, sweet science. That's a god given talent, my friend. I'm an insta-fan niow so I'll be checking out your back catalogue of work from here on out.
Oh, my cell just beeped at me, 'Quiet! Quiet!' in your Don't Shoot Me, Please Jumpy voice which means I got a call so gotta dip. Late', my dude!
wink lol
Another great editing job. Not sure if I'd seen this movie; if I have, it was 30 years or more ago. I was able to watch in 40 minutes, and I doubt that I missed much. And watching it along with JL and the pups is a lot more entertaining than watching it by myself.
Thanks again!
Your dog standing on 2 legs for that belly rub had me dyin! 😂😂😂😂. Out of the hundred reaction channels this is in my top 3 and thats saying something IMHO lol.
That’s awesome. Who are the other two? - J
@@EOMReacts "you me and the movies" and something like "reelin with asia and bj"
I haven’t been able to watch you in a while and seeing this shows me just how much I have missed your reactions and your sweet dogs! Hope you have a wonderful Christmas!
Thank you for the excellent reaction, and yes, I think this is one of the best films about the opposite tandem, and in general - one of the few series where all the parts worked out perfectly!
I will not be able to make the premiere's as they are now at 8 am here on the west coast, not a big deal but I did enjoy being there. Love this movie and the second one as well, Gibson and Glover have great chemistry and it really works. Thanks JL and Blank.
I can't wait for your reaction to LW2, it has one of my all-time favourite lines in it ;)
Man don't worry i'm nearly 44 and got the gray hairs since i'm 35, but it's concerning multiple issues i've had (and still try to fix them), we're from the same generations even if i'm the other side of the world and YOU're the best reatcters movies's guy on Yt...i grew up with those movies.........aaahh nostalgia, what a great reaction, thank you, i'm broke but i support you in a different way, love man.
Classic movie. Hope you are having an great and awesome day ❤️
Awesome Movie and Work Bro, Thanks 👍👍👍😀 Greetings from Helsinki, Finland 🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸
1:00 Best Lassie EVER!
R.I.P. Darlene Love, Mary Ellen Trainor, and Mitchell Ryan.
Oh Gary Busey went as nutty as hell for a while. Just look for one of them after they were famous shows.
I am excited to see this reaction. The first time I saw this movie was in 1988, I was in the Navy deployed to the Persian Gulf escorting tankers during operation Ernest Will. We would pull into Bahrain, a small island nation and there was a base there called Administrative Support Unit or just ASU for short. They had a theatre there and this movie was playing, I had never heard of it and man what a great movie it was.
Your next action sci-fi banger should be: Battlefield Los Angeles.
Fun fact the Murtaugh house is next door to the Griswold house from Christmas Vacation house ( on screen right) on the Warner Backlot.
Right when that house blew up, as soon as I saw you jump I said, Shut up". Then you said it. hahaha..Thanx for the reaction, take care..xx
always think it's funny that they reference Air America. another good movie worth a watch. and this movie is what made me want to become a helicopter pilot
Also, I probably mentioned this before too but honestly, you outta check out da movie that put the "buddy-(action) cop genre on the map. Nighthawks! Starring a young Sylvester Stallone, Billy Dee Williams, Lindsey Wagner and the late, great Rutger Hauer in his American film debut. It's a great flick! Ya outta give it a try sometime.
Mate, you are far away the best of these react channels. 1000 more baby!!
It's funny, Danny Glover was playing a 50 year old in this film from '87 but in Predator 2 from '90 he was 44, lol. I always wondered why people thought he was too old in Predator 2 considering how in great shape he was.
Because helicopter blades can flex to extremes. And ppl crouch to keep center of gravity low to the ground because the wind from the rotor can blow you all over the place.
You should check out the movie "Air America", it stars Mel Gibson & Robert Downey Jr. 😃
Another great buddy cop movie that ends taking place around Christmas is Running Scared with Billy Chrystal and Gregory Hines.
Gary Busey is the definition of NUTS... But it fits his roles PERFECTLY!!
Concerning your question on why people duck when they exit/enter helicopters. I worked on a aircraft carrier for 5 years refueling helicopters and jets. They tolds us to duck because if a strong gust hits the blades in the right way it can cause the blades to bend or sway down closer to the ground.
Love that you loved this. I have no idea how you're a few years older than me and haven't seen 90% of the movies you watch. Especially this one. I saw these in the 90's. So, Danny glover was 40 in this movie and Mel Gibson was like, 33. also the running scenes I don't think are to make him look at that.. yes somewhat but he's a big lankey guy. He's 6'4". Also he was hurt from the scene before. The scene in the desert was him trying to not get shot in the feet. Lol. So that wasn't all him being "too old for this shit" lol but somewhat yes.
Love your reactions! Love your co-pilots!
