Always those who react, miss the post-credits scene of Lethal Weapon 3, it is a very expensive scene because they show the demolition of another real building as the opening scene.
I love the opening scene of this movie. Riggs and Murtaugh bickering over a ticking time bomb encapsulates the entire series perfectly. And they did blow up an entire building for the movie's opening. They searched for a building that was scheduled for demolition, and they found one in Orlando, FL that they could film the bombing scene around.
Richard Donner (who directed all of the existing Lethal Weapon movies) was planning a 5th movie, but passed away before filming began. Donner's wife (and his Producing partner) asked Mel to take over directing the 5th and final Lethal Weapon movie as a tribute to this legendary director. For those who don't know, Richard Donner also directed the original Christopher Reeve Superman movie, The Goonies, and the Bill Murray Christmas classic Scrooged!
@@scottmackenzie62 They were already in the scriptwriting phase when Donner himself asked Mel to take over if he doesn't live long enough, because they couldn't get things off the ground quickly enough and he felt, at his age, that he could be on the way out before long. Mel wanted to start shooting last year, but didn't love the script, so they sat down for rewrites, and shooting was set to start around this time. No idea if the movie's on the fast track by now, though.
It makes no sense to me why Donner wanted a 5th movie. The 4th one tied up the whole series very well story wise and ended PERFECTLY, even all the way down to the end credits and song at the end. I just think a 5th one isn't necessary.
I love the scene where Lorna takes on (and wins) against 5 men. You said in reality they would have stepped in to help. In reality her punches would have barely been noticed and those guys would have beat her to death fast. Dirty Harry once said, "a man's got to know his limitations". In this case "she" does. It is the outrageousness of it all that makes it fun.
In regards to the scene where Riggs goes after Murtaugh’s daughter on the film set, that shit actually happens in LA. Crew members often share stories amongst ourselves, and a coworker told me how he worked on a film shoot in downtown LA and someone called the police about a man with a gun. The main actor was up the street kinda far from the camera and got rolled up on by the police, guns drawn. It was pretty obvious a film was being shot, but it didn’t matter. The first assistant director almost got arrested too. Guns were drawn on him when he tried to explain the situation. 😬
In fact, LW4 was a really good closing chapter (as it was supposed to be). Usually Hollywood excretes utter crap these days - at least that's what it's been been doing for almost a decade now -, so I don't have high hopes that this isn't yet another franchise waiting to be destroyed, but we'll see.

Welcome back love, it seems like ages since i've watched a reaction from you. I love all 4 of the Lethal Weapon films, but this is my second favourite, after LW2. The building blown up at the start was an old City Hall building due for demolition, and the uniformed cop who made a smart remark to them after the explosion was a cameo from the real life Mayor of that city.
Guys who don't watch the credits to the end are no real movie aficionados. If you really appreciate a movie, take the time and let the credits roll. And its also a form of respect for these hard working people, who brought you so much joy. Also, I got to the cinema, paid my ticket, ate some overcharged snacks, why should I waste any of those minutes the cinema gave me???
The lethal weapon series has so much heart and fun. The 1st film was so serious w/ moments of humor, and I really think the 2nd set the tone for the rest from the opening credits by playing the Looney tunes theme lol it really said….this is fun, get ready. All the while touching on serious moments, like officer involved shooting, the emotional impact, an the friendship at the heart of this series. The 4th is awesome, and ends perfectly.
Hello Coby! First off, I LOVE your movie reactions!! They are so fun to watch, I'm enjoying them a LOT. Little bit of nonsense movie trivia for you. The two buildings that blow up (at the beginning and in the end credits) are actual real demolitions! I live in Florida and I know that at least one of them (might be both???) was filmed in Orlando. I believe it's the one in the end credits scene. Anyway, yeah when you remarked how it looked like a real demolition, YOU WERE RIGHT it was! The producers heard about the demos and called the team that was doing it and the city and said hold up we want this in our movie. So they made those scenes around them.
The one in Orlando was the one in the beginning of the film. I was in school at the naval base there at the time and me and a couple buddies went down that night and watched it. Somewhere I have a VHS tape that I recorded when they blew it. There were so many people there and we're all looking around for Mel and Danny but they weren't there. Because Orlando is in Orange County, Florida, they were able to use actual Orange County vehicles for the shot when they drive by after the explosion without needing to doctor anything up. At least, that was the word buzzing around at the time. It's not like I heard it from anyone involved in the production but it makes sense. :)
"Close is lingerie shop without a front window." From what I can tell there is no correct answer to what this means. Either it was something that the answer was accidentally edited out of the movie, or it was just an adlibbed line. Some people have come up with they think the answer is but there is no official answer. One explanation is that what she meant by that line was "Close doesn't count. Close is pointless like not having a front window in a lingerie shop." Like what is the point in going into a lingerie store to shop if you can't look in the front window to see if there's anything worth looking at inside or something like that.
4:33 mark with the armored cars is the portion of Main St that runs through Olvera St in Los Angeles. You can see the entrance to "Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church" in that shot.
Yes Larna and Riggs were moving fast but when ya know ya know, I met my wife in a bar 19 years ago and I knew that night I was going to spend the rest of my life with her God is good
Coby, Lorna's joke-"Close is a lingerie shop without a window." is a play on words. Close = clothes. It's stupid but I like it...quote it all the time!...😅😊😂
The reason why there was so much real estate being blown up in this is because there were so many buildings slates for demolition and the filmmakers were asked if they wanted to film it. The final shootout was a failed housing project so they reworked the final fight to be set there.
Loved your reaction Coby! I think Leo was the perfect addition to the Riggs-Murtaugh duo, the whole dynamic is so good! Can't wait to see your reaction to number 4! 😊
An armor piercing bullet or "cop killer" could be loaded into any kind of brass for any of the guns out there. It's about the design and materials in the construction of the actual bullet so no gun is "safe".
YES..... I'm just happy that you knew about the end credit scene. It's not much but, for me, it just adds an extra brief comedic glimpse in the continued insanity of this friendship/family 😊😊😊😊
A lot of submachine guns use the same caliber of ammunition as sidearms from the same manufacturers. It saves on costs and simplifies supply needs for police/military that contracts them.
Coby, just a little FYI. Both the 2 buildings that were destroyed by bombs and the construction site were outside the film's budget. IOW, the production team found 2 buildings that were going to be controlled demoed and got permission to film the explosions, maybe adding a little extra in for more color plus the uncompleted housing development was something the production got for almost nothing...it was from a bankrupt company that never was going to finish the building.
I don't know if they still do this, but when I was growing up, the theaters by me wouldn't raise the house lights until the last credits scene was finished (at which point they raised them to half which was their normal credit illumination), so that's how you knew if there was more to come.
Lethal Weapon 3 is my favourite too. It's just peak Lethal Weapon action all the way, not to mention the fantastic intro and outro songs ( "It's Probably Me" by Sting and "Runaway Train" by Eric Clapton and Elton John). I'll never get tired of watching this movie again and again.
The beginning explosion was a real implosion, but not in LA, it was the old Orlando City Hall in Florida that was being demolished and they filmed it to be in the movie. If you youtube it you can find behind the scenes and news about it.
Coby, Lethal Weapon, Joe Pesci instant watch! IMO 2 was the best but no judgements Sting with Eric Clapton on the soundtrack. Your Aussie showed when you were worried about Leo!
"Cop killers" are a myth. As usual, Hollywood gets it wrong. I'm not familiar with LAPD vests, but the ones used by the Army/Marines have composite ceramic plates that can protect against a 7.62 NATO full rifle round. What's really silly is how the "cop killers" go _through_ the thick steel of a CAT loader. Still, a fun movie. Renee Russo is a good addition. I don't know if you have noticed, but Riggs is a big Three Stooges fan, as is Cole. We now have all four. 😏 #4 is fun. Small plot spoiler, Riggs has to deal with getting older. #1 was released in 1987, and #4 in 1998. Eleven years have passed.
Okay Okay Okay 😂😂😂 Rene Russo was a superb addition to this franchise all 4 are superb Btw Your beautiful super hot intelligent and watching a good movie Glad I subbed
They were on Santa Monica Blvd in West Hollywood. They were in front of a movie studio that later became the Oprah Winfrey studio which was later torn down (half of it) and a shopping center with a Trader Joe's was built there. That was later all torn down and Luxury apartments with ground floor shopping were then built. A Trader Joe's is still one of the stores in the new ground floor shopping so if you know where the Trader Joe's is located on Santa Monica Blvd in West Hollywood, then you know where they are, although the area looks nothing like it looked when they filmed this.
3:35 The bomb at the beginning of the movie was obviously fake for the movie...the building demolition, however was 100% real. The producers heard that the building was being destroyed so they asked the city if they could film it.
Hi there and hello. I just discovered your channel. I love watching your videos. You ask great questions. I watched your Matrix videos. You asked great questions about how Smith would see the Matrix. In the office building where they are searching for Neo I think Smith should have been able to see through the furniture and to see Neo. I would never have thought about that. Also in this Lethal Weapon video did you notice that the computer monitor was showing the information in block text green letters. That is why the Matrix all has a green tint. Green and amber monitors were the standard for business.
Vests are made differently depending on location and scenario. Some are just a Kevlar weave, which is very light. Others have ballistic plating (SAPI plates, made of ceramic, are common in the Army). Plates offer better protection against stabs, and it's less to replace on a gunshot (rather than a full vest in the case of a weave). And you can put armor piercing rounds in pretty much every gun. They're just brass bore rounds Teflon-sprayed (so they don't destroy the barrel).
Pates are not for deflecting bladed weapons. Plates, or Hard Armor, are for protecting vital areas from the blunt force trauma of ballistic impact and high calibers, like rifles.
Fun fact I went to Herber Hoover High in WV and our mascot was the Huskey. We had a section at games called the Dawg Pound an those would eat dog food or dog bones. Didn't do the Alpo but milk bone dog biskets are not bad at all. Infact very close to a sea bisket ration. Cracker like with bone meal mixed in. Because milk wasn't kept on ships and cheese was gone on long voyages the bone meal provided needed calcium. The biskets keep for months easy even at sea. Milk bones are good for the teeth and great for making friends with dogs if needed too. Enjoy the show.
@@travisolson9413 You don't have to eat it but I feel sorry for any pets if you feed them something you won't even sample. I got a degree in history and pointed out that Sea Biscuits or Hard Tack also are a type of bread ration very much like Milk Bone dog bones. For months at sea 2 needed items were hard to provide for nutrition Calcium and Vit. C (either vital to human life) The later is also why Bitts are called Limey. I tend to eat a lot of beef and vegies at meal but know what I can eat in my area and even snack on weeds when tending the lawn or garden. In my WV you might go hungry but it is hard to starve. Before you reject foods you should at least sample them first. No I don't often eat the dog bones but I have sampled them and they are not bad with some popular energy bars tasting worse IMHO.
"Bad Boys" (1995) "Die Hard With A Vengeance" (1995) "La Femme Nikita" (1990 original) "Showdown In Little Tokyo" (1991) "The Last Boy Scout" (1991) "The Boondock Saints" (1999) "The Corruptor" (1999) "Eraser" (1996) "Striking Distance" (1993)
Parts The movie was shot in Florida and the building at the start was the old Miami courthouse, it was going to be torn down, but the movie company bought it to blow it up instead of building a whole new building just to to destroy it they used a building that was going to be demolished anyway
Coby, why the sour face? Raw onion is pretty darn good!...lol Came by the love honestly...my maternal grandfather would eat them also like an apple...😂😅😊
Besides this cop movie. Try another one thats a great thriller. Its called THE NEGOTIATOR. Samuel L Jackson and Kevin Spacey. The greats Paul Giamatti and David Morse are also in it. Some other good actors and actresses. Pretty star studded cast. One heck of a thriller to be a cop movie. Think you will love it. Love your channel.
It's funny when ppl criticize killers (for example) for going to a hockey game after killing someone earlier. What are they supposed to do? Go home and reflect on what they did? Watch TV? Then you'd criticize their choice of show. 😂
I love the Lethal Weapon series.. They just keep getting better. I hear they're making a 5th with Mel Gibson directing. Richard Donner passed away sadly.
Number 4 is great as well. Another movie you should watch of Mel gibson's is, "Payback". But make sure you watch the theatrical cut and NOT the director's cut. the theatrical cut is way better. The director's cut is a totally different movie... not as good.

4 is good, but 3 is probably my fav of the series
Hi there and hello.
I just discovered your channel.
I love watching your videos. You ask great questions. I watched your Matrix videos. You asked great questions about how Smith would see the Matrix. In the office building where they are searching for Neo I think Smith should have been able to see through the furniture and to see Neo. I would never have thought about that. Also in this Lethal Weapon video did you notice that the computer monitor was showing the information in block text green letters. That is why the Matrix all has a green tint. Green and amber monitors were the standard for business.
23:29 - Coby: "Take the dog! (then in an accent) Take the dawg!"
Hahaha!
@@splinter579 The stab vests in Georgia prisons say differently. 4 plates in front and back, and 2 under each arm.
Love watching your reaction to these movies keep it up and I'll keep coming back for more
thank you !!
Cool reaction as always Coby, you have a good night 🥰❤️
thank you !
U still gotta watch leo and murtaugh together in, gone fishin!
Remind me not to go over to your house to eat.
"Bad Boys" (1995)
"Die Hard With A Vengeance" (1995)
"La Femme Nikita" (1990 original)
"Showdown In Little Tokyo" (1991)
"The Last Boy Scout" (1991)
"The Boondock Saints" (1999)
"The Corruptor" (1999)
"Eraser" (1996)
"Striking Distance" (1993)
Parts The movie was shot in Florida and the building at the start was the old Miami courthouse, it was going to be torn down, but the movie company bought it to blow it up instead of building a whole new building just to to destroy it they used a building that was going to be demolished anyway
Coby, why the sour face? Raw onion is pretty darn good!...lol Came by the love honestly...my maternal grandfather would eat them also like an apple...😂😅😊
I just can’t enjoy this one as much seeing as part of the villain’s grand scheme is a housing development 😂
lol
My fav order:
Lethal weapon 3
Lethal weapon
Lethal weapon 2
Lethal weapon 4
interesting, interesting, a lot of people are pumped for the final one on here
@@criminalcontent dont forget there making number 5 😁
@@brigoose7945 well, we're not sure about that one, but chris rock was a great addition to 4 !
I love how when Riggs says Sgt Cole, Murtaugh thinks he means Sgt Cole from traffic who is a guy 😂
This movie is awesome. Great fun
The next one is great!
There are metal plates, Kevlar plates and ceramic plates depending on the situation or assignment.
19:39 whoops a little Aussie slip there Mel lol.
Really like your reactions Coby, Thanks much... Wish you long time success !!
appreciate that !
4 is the best one
Hi Coby ❤the Lethal weapon movies and glad your enjoying them.Have you watched the Die Hard films? they're just as good.👍💓🇬🇧
I love them all, but 3 is my favorite
This was my favorite as well
There's a deleted scene from this movie, which shows the two dogs trying to bond.
If you do four watch the credits please. They honor the whole crew.
Russo also did a good SS agent in In the Line of Fire with Eastwood. Also the bad guy in that one is also in Red.
we just taped coby watching that, as well as unforgiven
This movie made me fall in love with rotweillers.
Number 4 was epic
Besides this cop movie. Try another one thats a great thriller. Its called THE NEGOTIATOR. Samuel L Jackson and Kevin Spacey. The greats Paul Giamatti and David Morse are also in it. Some other good actors and actresses. Pretty star studded cast. One heck of a thriller to be a cop movie. Think you will love it. Love your channel.
Hi Coby hope you are having an great and awesome day ❤
It's funny when ppl criticize killers (for example) for going to a hockey game after killing someone earlier. What are they supposed to do? Go home and reflect on what they did? Watch TV? Then you'd criticize their choice of show. 😂
Yay back to Lethal Weapon!
sry for delay !
I love the Lethal Weapon series.. They just keep getting better. I hear they're making a 5th with Mel Gibson directing. Richard Donner passed away sadly.
I know I said it before…now to watch Loaded Weapon. Also, I’d love to see her watch the Mel Gibson movie, Maverick
def hasn't seen either
Coby, U R going to love #4 is you like this one.
Number 4 is great as well. Another movie you should watch of Mel gibson's is, "Payback". But make sure you watch the theatrical cut and NOT the director's cut. the theatrical cut is way better. The director's cut is a totally different movie... not as good.
@criminalcontent u should definitely c demolition man with Sylvester Stallone and Wesley snipes. The beginning is very very similar to lethal weapon 3 opening scene
Demolition man is Sylvester Stallone #1 movie ever
Robocop is also a great movie 2 c
SSWWEEEEET! I annually marathon these. Love all Four!! "NITCH" as you Americans say "⁉️ Where you from? PLEASE #4 Sooner 🥺☮️
Love the mug!! I live in Portland, Maine 🤷🏻♂️🤣
Three down, one more to go
