Steve, dear. Well, you've done it again. You are so captivating with your impressions of the Hollywood greats. And you keep getting better and better. "It's genius, I tell you!" I think you're doing a great service to the art of movie-making with your enthusiasm, knowledge and sense of humor. These great movies will not die because of folks like you that keep them in front of the public. You're a national treasure. Kiss-kiss.
Hey Dennis Lovinfosse........thanks for saying it better than I could. Steve is a Treasure❤ Blessings to Steve and blessings to you❣
amen to that!
Oh My ! You made the TOQ blush a bit! Thanks so much! I really appreciate it!
Thanks so much for watching!
Wow, it is one of my favorite Judy Holiday films. So love Judy! Great impersonation Steve!
Thanks, so glad you like it! Steve
Cukor did keep trying to get Lemmon to erase all traces of mugging and his whole bag of tricks. Finally Jack blew up at Cukor and said "If I do any less than that I won't be acting at all!"
Cukor said "AHA, now your getting the idea!"
Yup.
Cukor did like Lemmon, though. He said Lemmon was a ham, but you could always trim a ham.
Steve Hayes can take a good day and make it great and a bad day and make it good. There's nothing on RUclips I look forward to more. Thank you!
Thank you so very much!!! Steve
This is such a charming movie! And Steve, that is an AMAZING Judy Holliday impression!
Many thanks and thanks for watching! Steve
Thank you! I love your impersonation of Judy Holliday. I would love to see you play the whole film.
OMG! Well, don't let her hear you say that! LOL! Steve
Wow this looks fun! Thanks Steve!😊
I think you 'll love it!
Love that film. You do a great Judy Holiday imitation!

The theme of this film is very prescient. Enormous fun. Fabulous impersonation.
Thanks so much! Steve
Thanks, Steve...love your pieces!! What a great movie this is. She was so good...such a pity we lost her so young.
I agree. But she left behind a string of delightful movies to enjoy her genius. Steve

Love to you! How I miss my friends across the pond! Thanks for watching and Happy Sprinhg!
OMG-I laughed through this whole video! Steve, your Judy Holliday is spot-on❤ This movie is always such a hoot, Jack and Judy should’ve done more endearing film like these-so perfect a team they were. Thanks for another wonderfully zany review of a classic comedy 😄
My pleasure, I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I agree. I wish they'd done more. Thanks for watching and for the lovely compliment! Happy Spring! Steve
Have a wonderful Spring, Steve and Johnny 💝💝💝😊
You too! May the weather be warm and the people be sunny...and visa versa! HAPPY SPRING!
Always a treat to get another Steve Hayes video.
Thanks so much! Happy Spring! Steve
What a lovely treat to watch over my Sunday brunch. I really love Judy Holliday, a truly unique talent. I didn't know that so much of this is improv but it just confirms my bias, they don't make 'em like they used to.
I totally agree! Thanks for watching! Steve
Judy was a gem!
Absolutely!
My late Father loved JUDY HOLIDAY.... He thought she was hilarious.. I'm going to buy this film in his honour and I know I will enjoy it.👍. You really bring movies to life. I love listening and watching your antics as you explain the plot.. Thank you STEVE 💋😂💞📺

LOL! I love being an enabler! Thanks so much for watching! Steve
OMG! OMG! OMG! I bet Frank Gorshin could never do a conversation between Judy Holliday and Ronald Colman like I KNOW you would. What a great review of this under-rated Cukor classic.
LOL! Judy Holliday and Ronald Coleman! I'm putting that into my act! Hilarious!!! Thanks for watching! Steve
Steve, Your affection for and enjoyment of the movies you share with us is evident in every episode of TIRED OLD QUEEN AT THE MOVIES. Thank you for the time, energy and effort you invest in each review.

Judy Holliday is one of my favorites, but I've never seen this film will have to see where it is streaming. Thanks for keeping great films alive for today's audiences, a true public service if there ever was one!
I'm so glad you feel that way and thanks for letting us know. Best Wishes; Steve
Thank you for this Steve - this is my favorite Judy Holliday picture! I enjoyed your impression of her, but it reminds me more of "Born Yesterday" than it does "It Should Happen to You!" When Judy passed away in June 1965, Jack Lemmon and George Cukor (in different interviews) called her "brilliant" and "tremendously talented." A lovely lady gone way too soon. Cheers to all!
Cheers. Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching! Steve
Steve, your vocal impersonation of Judy Holiday is spot on and such a hoot! Couldn't stop smiling and laughing! Brilliant! Because of you I now really want to see this movie. I'm a big fan of yours, love you madly and click immediately when notified you've uploaded a new review. Thank you for spotlighting this charming sadly forgotten movie. Pity Judy Holiday died so young. She was stunning. Please think about doing a review on Joan Crawford's Daisy Kenyon

Wonderful
Thanks, Handsome!
😂😂😝😝🤣🤣👏👏👏👏👍👍 That was good !
Many thanks!
Great choice Steve! This is such a fun film and the premise is still v relevant, fame for fame sake. I was struck by how lovely her singing voice is. I loved her in ‘Born Yesterday’ driving Broderick Crawford nuts playing cards. I can’t think who could’ve played that role as well as she did. She was so watchable, I wish there was more of her on film. Steve, your impressions are the cherry on the cake for me!! Thanks a million xxx
Thanks so much for watching! I love the chemestry between these two. Delicious! Happy Spring! Steve
Steve: your Judy Holliday impression cracked me up! I's love to see you act out a conversation between her and Barbara Stanwyck.
On a side note, I think Judy was credited with this quip about gardening: "With fronds like these, who needs anemones?" Not only funny, but smart.
HILARIOUS! Thanks so uch! I never heard this! LOL!
Thanks for another splendid review, Steve! I so adore Judy Holliday, it's a delight to have a peek into another of her movies. Your impersonation was spot-on!
I'm so glad you like it! Happy Spring! Steve
HA! Just Kidding, so glad to see you're making videos again. ALL your videos are "Hollidays" for me! Waiting for Mae West, Jean Harlow, Fanny Brice, Gloria Swanson, etc.. Even like to see some on my Fav hottie, Montgomery Clift! Or any other "closeted by the studio" Men.
Well, according to Scotty Bowers ( "Full Service) that leaves the options wide open...so to speak. LOL! Steve

Great video! I loved every bit of it! I really need to check this movie out. Steve, your recomendations and choices are superb. Jack Lemmon is always terrific. I recently re-watched the "Out of Towners". It's a fabulously humorous movie. Steve, thanks for the laughs and your "electric" enthusiasm. Take care!
I love "The Out Of Towners" too, Sandy Dennis cracks me up; 'Oh My Gawd!" Hilarious! Thanks for watching! Steve
She was so wonderful ❤.
Indeed.
Jack and Judy are perfection! I often forget they are two of my all time favorite actors ever! I love these silly movies of farce like The Mating Season and The Model and the Marriage Broker (both w Thelma Ritter) and Behave Yourself w Shelley Winters and Farley Granger. Hilarity
Great little romantic comedies.Filled with wit. They really don't make 'em like that anymore.
Best review!!!😊
Many thanks! Steve
Wonderful Judy Impression Steve...looks like much of this film was actually filmed in NY? Now I have to locate this film! xoxo
A great deal of it was shot on loaction. It's always fun to see films of New York in the '50's.Steve
You got me to watch Call Me Madam. Now I want to see this. Never watched it before and it looks perfect for me. Born Yesterday is one of my favorite classic movies.
You'll love it, it's a perfect vehicle for her. Steve
Even the spanish title ("Una rubia fenómeno" literally "A phenomenal blonde") suits her to perfection. She really was phenomenal.
Absolutamente Magnifico! Thanks for watching! Steve
Judy Holiday is one of my favorites. So underrated and gone too soon.
Oh, absolutely.
When Judy does that rapid-fire script reading during the TV program, it's absolutely genius! Trivia: the great score for this movie was written by Frederick Hollander, who, when he was still "Friedrich Holländer", was one of the greatest songwriters on the Berlin cabaret scene of the 1920s and early '30s, before the Brown Shirts took over. He wrote "Falling Again in Love Again", the tune that Marlene Dietrich made ultra famous in "The Blue Angel". Although "Let's Fall in Love" (heard so much in this movie) was by Harold Arlen.
Thanks!
I 'm loving Judy Holliday lately. I bet the producers thought this was a high concept back in the day, little did they know.
From high concept to common denominator. Typical. Delightful Holliday vehicle and jack lemmon is terrific! Steve

Happy Birthday, Judy Holliday
Lovely Judy!
Such a joy of a film! My third favorite Judy Holliday movie after The Solid Gold Cadillac and The Marrying Kind. Judy is so endearing and as you said pairs delightfully with Jack, which came in even more handy when their chemistry and the charm of costars Jack Carson and Kim Novak was about all that buoyed up her most mediocre movie Phffft!
With all the celebrity for celebrity's sake desperate wannabes slithering around these days this remains quite prescient, though none of those bottom feeders possess anywhere near the charm nor grace of Judy Holliday. More's the pity.
Yes, both she and Lemmon were magical originals and set the standards for so many since. Thanks for watching! Steve
your voices are fabulous 😍
You oughta' see the rest of me!...maybe not.

Sorry it was no "Holliday" for you.
I'm a big Judy Holliday fan but it's been a while since I've seen her films. I'll be checking this one out again soon (such top New York talent -Holliday, Lemmon, Kanin, Cukor). Thanks for the Susan Hayward recommendations. So far I've seen I Can Get It for You Wholesale (and only knew it in reference to Barbra Streisand's early career and never knew it was based on a film). Also My Foolish Heart, which showed me a softer side of Hayward than I ever suspected. I always thought of her as playing a tough cookie.
A toughie who could break your heart, which is why I always loved her. Thanks for watching! Steve
4:40 Frank Nelson of I Love Lucy and Jack Benny fame. Yeeeesssss!

I love this movie. I thought no one else had seen it. No one talks of it.
It's a little gem and they're all so good in it!
Oh, don't you just love Frank Nelson? YYYYYeeeees! Of course, you do.
"Why Yeeeeeeeees, Mrrrrrrrrrrs Ricardo." I sure do!
Just saw something which ties in with this movie. In her screen debut, Kim Novak's first scene in "Pushover'' (another Columbia film), she narrowly avoids stepping under a ladder as a theater employee is putting the next film on the marquee: ''I Should Happen to You.''9
Wow! I never saw this! That's amazing!
Steve, i get excited every time i see a new video from you. When are you going to move to Georgia and marry me? it's worked for Susan hayward.
LOL! Finally! !! A proposal! I thought you'd never get around to asking! However, flattered as I am, I'm afraid I have to decline. If I took you up on it, they'd only end up treating me like they did Susan in "ADA", the ex- hooker who becomes the governor's wife. But... don't think I don't appreciate the offer. Wonderful review. However, I'm finding it impossible to buy DVDs these days. It seems everyone likes streaming better so all the stores that sell DVDs have closed and the DVD's I see online are outrageously over-priced. Does anyone have a suggestion for getting older films at a reasonable cost? Thank you again, Steve. DA
I always check out the used ones on Amazon and Ebay. Best; Steve
Jack Lemmon once said Judy Holliday was probably the nicest person in Hollywood. And she could change a flat tire! One time they went out for dinner, with him driving. They got a flat tire. He left her in the car, to try to find an open garage. When he came back, she asked him “where can I wash my hands?” While he was looking for a mechanic, she changed the tire herself.
The lady had an IQ of 172.
I wish she had lived long enough to team up with Madeline Kahn. That would have been fun.
Wouldn't it? Madeline was the closest thing to her.
My earliest was Santa Battles the Aliens(as I remember) with Gerry and the Pacemakers' black and white video of Ferry Cross the Mersey.
OMG! Great song, though. Thanks for watching!
Thanks all of you for another video.
Our pleasure and thank you for watching! Steve
I'm mad about Judy Garland (what a heartbreakingly early loss) and Jack Lemon (Billy Wilder said "Happiness is working with Jack Lemon") so I'm enormously grateful you reviewed this film. Have you reviewed "The Solid Gold Cadillac" and if not please do.
Well, I agree with you, both Judy Garland and Judy Holiiday were heartbreaking losses. Interesting that you mention "Solid Gold Cadillac" it was between that and this one as to which I would review this time out. But the other is on my "to do" list! Steve
@@STEVEHAYESTOQ Bless you - such a great reviewer.
@@alidabaxter5849 Thanks you so much!
I'm surprised that you didn't mention the appearance of a young John Saxon in the park scenes at the beginning of the film.
He was barely there long enough to pick-up.
Steve- I would pay a significant amount of money just to watch you sit in a lawn chair on stage doing impressions. Judy really did have an endearingly magnetic presence on film and I look forward to watching this film. I will admit, though- I'm waiting for you to do Stella Dallas!
And I will admit it's on my list! Happy Spring and thanks you for the lovely compliment! Steve
@@STEVEHAYESTOQ I just realized another movie I'd love to see you cover is Red Headed Woman. It's probably my favorite Jean Harlow movie. Quintessential pre-code morality and Jean eats the screen up in the entire film.
@@sterlingross919 Thanks for the recommendation. I'm always on the look out for new Harlows.
@@STEVEHAYESTOQ I don't think she ever did a movie where she was as magnetic as Red Headed Woman. There's a scene where she gets into an argument with Chester Morris' character ("Bee-Yull") and then she beckons him over to her and her facial expressions in that scene are absolutely genius!
@@sterlingross919 You can't beat that per-code stuff. Every thing was so much more raw. I love the way she delivers a one-liner, especially in " Red Dust' where she has the scene with Mary Astor after Gable puts the move on her and Astor says it was just a spur of the moment thing. And Harlow replies: " Well, ya wanna watch out for the next moment, Honey. It's longer than the first one." Hilarious!
Haven’t heard a single hello!
"Hello"!
Hey Sugar pie. Just saw Pinky with Ethel Waters and Ethel Mertz I mean Barrymore. I thought of you. Have you reviewed it before? Much love.
Nope and won't. I love both Ethels but... Jeanne Crain...good God. Sometime read Kazan's coments on " Pinky" in his autobiography. So fascinating.
@@STEVEHAYESTOQ Ooh the only negative thing I could find about her is she was a Republican. Is that all?
@@lascreen3198 Why look for negatives?
Lol when you said “good God” I thought she must have done something horrible and Kazan trashed her for it in his book. Glad it was something good!
