As a child I saw Bells are Ringing and have never forgotten Judy Holiday; as an adult I saw Born Yesterday at an Art house theatre and had an Aha Moment! It’s great to have any footage of her.
Judy Holiday received the Tony Award for Bells are ringing winning over Julie Andrews for My Fair Lady. It was Judy tour of force and happily she made the movie. Sadly she died very young(1920-1966)
What's that? I never saw the film version of Bells Are Ringing in its entirety. I heard the B'way album many times which included this number. And you say this number was cut? You're right! It is a crime.
Always loved this number from the OBC album, but the staging seems odd here. didn't really work for the film. I suppose on stage, it would have been an "in one", which mean it was done in front of the curtain while the scenery was changed. From the outfit she was wearing, and the time of day, she was probably on her way to Jeff Moss, because he didn't answer his wake-up call.
Nice to have the sequence, not a good piece of film, good they cut it. She's great but I think maybe I saw the camera move once, in 5 minutes? It shook my world ...
Great song but I understand why it was omitted. Songs have to do either one or both of two things: advance the plot or show character and this does neither.
@@KennethSloan I sure they could have found a way to keep it in, but it looks to me like in the show, it was done in front of the curtain, while they changed scenery for Jeff Moss's apartment. he hadn't answered his wake-up call, and she has on the dress she wears when she meets him.
The song does both - she's trying to get the inspector off her back and to have him understand she's not doing anything illegal, at least she hopes she isn't, and it's also the character's philosophy of life. It was omitted because Vincente Minelli's direction of the entire film borders on the inept and this number is the worst of it. He never again made a good movie after this and this isn't good because of him, it's good because of the cast.

Delightful! I wish they kept it in the film but it's nice that video of it is still available!

It was a crime that MGM cut this number out Judy shines in it!

beyond talent and full of blessings: god she is great here.....
Amazing that the whole thing was done in one take.
Ahhh, what a treat to see a bit of the film that was never used!
So beautiful. I love and miss you. I was 12 when you left us. One of Hollywoods best❤❤❤❤🌹🌹🌹🌹
A Judy Holliday tour de force.

sometimes I can find the whole movie, but other times I can't 😥
Beautifull icon❤️
I don’t recall this scene
whatsoever in the movie!
Why was it taken out?!

Can't agree with you. It was in the Broadway original and should have been in the film.
