I'm lovin this video, I have no idea what I'm doing but it sure is fun to learn. I've had this WII since 2007, my kids used it for awhile then moved on. My grandkids wanted to play but the drive didn't work, found a tutorial on how to change it. Now I'm excited to find out what else it can do. So, I just got everything done and it was seamless. Thanks a million Scott!! I haven’t even used a pc in a while and this was so simple. Follow the steps and you’re set. For those who want to set up your games. Scott told us to make the “wbfs” file on the sd card/flash drive, i however got my games straight wbfs with the ID number and all. Your games should be (wbfs)~New Super Mario Bros [UE2014] (game folder)~UE2014.wbfs (actual game) The next thing is I had a bit of an issue with formatting my micro sd w/ sd adapter to FAT32. All problems of my own doing. Ensure the micro sd card is properly secured in the adapter, ensure the lock on the side of the adapter is slid up and not down, ensure that when you are going to format the sd card it is not open in files, if it is open or opens automatically once inserted close the window then format. That was it. Just did everything in the video in under 30mins.

Problem with Anton Retro's tutorials are the fact he botched updating the playlist and didn't outright acknowledge that the apps need to be installed by computer to SD card anyway. So that's a bit lame.
@Luna_MorningStar I was able to easily rip my games. The Wii was super easy to get running. Game cube took a little more work, turns out I had the file structure incorrect, after correcting the issue it works just fine.
This tutorial is really helpful and was overall very easy to follow. Thank you A couple things that I would like add with the hiccups I faced during the process though: 1) Yes, SDXC cards (SD Cards over 32GB) do work as long as you format them to FAT32 with 32kb or 16kb cluster size (32kb is ideal). You also have to format the partition as Primary, NOT Logical. If you format the partition as Logical BootMii will refuse to load and the disk will blink blue and you have to force shut the Wii down. 2) Since I used a MicroSD to SD card adapter, sometimes the Wii will refuse to read the MicroSD. This was due to me removing the MicroSD and inserting it into a MicroSD to USB adapter and reconnecting it. I think the connections were not working sometimes when reinserting it so if your sd card slot in your PC does not work for some reason, use a full SD card to USB adapter and avoid removing the MicroSD from the SD Card adapter.
@@Pink_kirb Theoretically yes if you format it correctly. However since 1TB cards are quite expensive right now, 64-256GB would be the sweet spot, unless you have a bunch of unused spare cards lying around. You can fit most of your game collection into 64 or 128GB already with a bunch of clearance, 256 maybe if you want to get all Wii + Gamecube games?

You have to create a folder for every data in the wbfs folder (you have to name all those folders like the game !) at the end of the games name you need to put the ID with [this] symbols ((square brackets )) inside of the folder with the name of the game you have to put the wbfs file data ex: open up the wbfs folder on your usb stick, you see "Mario Party 8 [RM8P01]" and in this folder you find the file "RM8P01.wbfs" the number is found this way game file and game id google search just rename your files like this and it should work with everygame below 4 GBs all games which are bigger need a manager to send to the usb device

Hey buddy love your channel and guides. Followed this guide and its worked like a charm. Unfortunately after about a week anytime I launch to the homebrew channel it reversed the direction of the Wiimote controls, eg up is down right is left etc. Any advise to fix this issue. 👍
Ofc the . of any game file is important and will depends where you will download it (if its in .Nkit you'll need the Nkit processor to transform it but if its in .RVZ you'll need Dolphin to transform it and ofc the wiibackup manager on top of them to transfert the games so you'll need the .ISO.wbfs

I just don’t know how to add games like mario party or mario galaxy to my usb loader app. where do i find the files ? and where do i add them in my sd card? and how would install it on to my system? if anyone could help me out that would be great.
About halfway through this setup! It's great so far. First off the older dns worked for me. Secondly, be absolutely sure your sd card it partioned correctly! Mine apparently had two partitions and kept telling me not enough space to make a nand backup. Reformatted and made one partition and it's doing that now. Will update later! Update: Everything worked fine! It's awesome. But now tell me why I can't even get the backup of Mario Party 8 to work? It's really weird. Oh well. Thanks for the tutorial! This was amazing.
the old one will stop working sometime in the next few weeks, (look up Str2hax for more info) and as for mp8 not working, if it's the only game that doesnt work (gives black screen) you may want to find another source. if it takes you back to the wii menu/hbc, then it's your CIOS's

I have the same problem
You have to create a folder for every data in the wbfs folder
(you have to name all those folders like the game !)
at the end of the games name you need to put the ID with [this] symbols
((square brackets ))
inside of the folder with the name of the game you have to put the wbfs file data
ex:
open up the wbfs folder on your usb stick, you see "Mario Party 8 [RM8P01]" and in this folder you find the file "RM8P01.wbfs"
the number is found this way
game file and game id google search
just rename your files like this and it should work with everygame below 4 GBs
all games which are bigger need a manager to send to the usb device
@jynx1891 so i just ".wbfs" on every game file? At the end?
Figured it out. You have to use "wii backup manager" it'll create a folder with the game by itself

Hey buddy love your channel and guides. Followed this guide and its worked like a charm. Unfortunately after about a week anytime I launch to the homebrew channel it reversed the direction of the Wiimote controls, eg up is down right is left etc. Any advise to fix this issue. 👍
Have u fixed this
Hi still didn't fix it. I just bought cheap 3rd party controllers from eBay and they worked perfectly
Thanks! Setup my entire system to homebrew this afternoon, very fun and easy to do. Very grateful for the help :)
Just homebrewed my Wii and followed your guide, thank you so much!!! It works perfectly
Is this video still current? Thinking of modding my Wii
Yes it is. I homebred my Wii yesterday
@@Lamp4daire__ LMFAO "homebred"
@@21tavish23 homebrewed sorry...
bro i am not getting the unicorn page it just shows the agreement
what to do pls help
make sure ur connected to internet, with correct sd card in, and type in the custom dns
Does it matter if you use ISO’s for games or .wbfs files?
Ofc the . of any game file is important and will depends where you will download it (if its in .Nkit you'll need the Nkit processor to transform it but if its in .RVZ you'll need Dolphin to transform it and ofc the wiibackup manager on top of them to transfert the games so you'll need the .ISO.wbfs
I was so stuck. This was incredible and set me straight. Rarely could i find tutorials that actually show moving the files on the SD.
You got a like and a sub brother
Guy made the clearest, most concise video on the whole internet,
Everytime i try to load the games on USB loader it just boots me back to the homebrew menu, can someone help?
video was very helpful i have the homebrewed wii and followed all your steps. I just don’t know how to add games like mario party or mario galaxy to my usb loader app. where do i find the files ? and where do i add them in my sd card? and how would install it on to my system? if anyone could help me out that would be great.
did u ever find out i want to do the same
How much storage should be on the sd card during installing homebrew and bootmii?
I was referred to you by someone on an online forum that said you had a really good video. I agree this was an excellent tutorial, thanks!!
that is great to hear, thank you so much :)
@@funkyscott47 Thanks again! It was the disc. All is right with world again.

Hey dude! Thank you so much for this tutorial ❤❤I’m really thankful that I found you cause I didn’t know how to get to work my USB drive with games that I have in it on my Wii. Now I can enjoy those games!!! You’re amazing!!
Once again another amazing video from the homebrew master himself!
I can’t describe how happy I’m, thank you sir ❤
Dude this actually worked thank you so much :D
This might be the greatest tutorial ever made
Im buying a 2nd hand wii tomrrow, and now im glad to know how to homebrew it, thank you so mucj!
the best video on the internet about how to unlock a wii, it's wonderfull, grettings from Argentina and specially thank you for your time explaining how to do this.
thank you for your comment, I'm glad you find my video useful :)
Worked great, thanks. I did this once before when the only way was the twilight princess hack, but there seems to be so many more options and this was definitely one of the simplest methods. Also do you know about the quake port that was available for the Wii homebrew back in the day and if it is still available?
Thanks so much! This was totally easy and did the trick for our Wii. My son is diggin' on all the games, and now he doesn't have to sift through our Wii CDs anymore :) I put his favorite games on an 8GB SD card, but we have a bunch of games, and I tried to use the 128GB SD card you list in the video description, but my Wii tells me I can't use that SD card... Do I have to use a USB thumb drive to have increased storage capacity? Thanks for posting this video, it's really, really good and super helpful!
this is still working very well! TYSM for this tutorial!
you are very welcome :)
Super helpful thank you so much
Thank you man you explained everything so perfectly
CONGRATULATIONS ON your 1st anniversary IN 2MONth
I had all the files you said in your other video on my sd card and was missing the beginning steps in this video 😅 bless my little heart

Thank you so much I literally dont know what to say bro this helped out so much
I plan to mod my aunt and uncles Wii for them as a Christmas present after I fix it for them. This guide is great.
Where do you find his link
FYI to those that do not know, a GameCube Controller will work with BootMii instead of using Power and Reset buttons.
Great video, super helpful !
