Unless a 1TB SD Card might help backup as many Nintendo Wii and Gamecube games is a suggestion. If not possible use a 2TB external SSD alternative option.

I had downloaded my first GC disc and went to launch it, it caused the Wii to shut off and not come back on. Any suggestions?
Strange. What format of disc did you use? I think some of the .iso files out there have a .nkit extension before the .iso file format and it can sometimes create some challenges getting them loaded on certain hardware.
why are we using a special app to format FAT32 instead of the Windows FAT32 option?
Because windows doesn't use FAT32 on higher capacity storage
When formatting an old external HD it only allows exFAT, will this work instead of Fat32?

the games will continue to save new over the backups right?? i’m new to homebrewing i just want to play animal crossing lol but it’s a progressive game so i have to save every time i play, home brew allows that and tracks data right?!!!
im assuming theres work done to the wii beforehand? you pulled all these files from your sd card to the backup folder, how did they appear on the sd card initially?

The "X" button on the GameCube controller is kinda mutually represented as the "1" button on the Wiimote.
My black wii seemingly only recognizes my usb drives in port 1, but recognizes it as port 0. Besides that, I can go and see all of my games (on 3 different drives I have tried
) in usb loader, but every time I try to boot the game it takes me back to the homebrew menu. I have fully re-soft modded the wii in addition to all of the troubleshooting steps I have been able to find. Do you have any advice? Also, I think im local to you, small world!
Nice! Glad to know there are other retro games in SC. :) As far as the games not loading, are they dumps you personally made or ones you "already had", if you know what I mean? Direct dumps are super easy to use and highly compatible since there are no shenanigans, just pure backups right on your system. Online repositories can sometimes have questionable backups.
Is it possible to get 1Tb Sd and pit my games there instead?
Best as I can tell from research, yes, 1TB is doable, as FAT32 has a max size of 2TB. However... some of the Wii games will be larger than the 4GB max file size for FAT32. That means they'll have to be split to be used. GameCube will be fine as they cap out around 1.5GB or so. Just be prepared to split the Wii dumps across more than one file for the larger games and it should be fine.
do you know why sometimes after playing a game and resetting, in usb loader gx startup the usb hdd says cannot be found? and i have to turn the console off and on again
Hmm. Strange. Are you using the drive in FAT32 or NTFS? The one in the video is NTFS. Not sure that makes a difference but it might.

it works all the time apart from sometimes it does that when soft resetting in the menu
