    Learned cursive since kindergarten however it was my mom who taught me. Schools in the Philippines taught it at grade 2 however barely anyone in my class use it after that. The struggle I keep facing is keeping it constantly straight and on the line of the paper!

    • @2pixelgroup
      @2pixelgroup  5 лет назад

    Wow, so happy I found your channel. I love seeing this slow as it reminds me that I really need to nail this slowly and then pick up speed if I want it to look right for the cursive. I'm a bit impatient haha. It's nice to see this can be achieved even with a 0.5 mm tip! I see that you have a lot of calligraphy, but would love to see more cursive as well too! Great job.

    I'm just a handlettering slash modern calligraphy person currently trying copperplate and penmanship. It took already 2 months since I practiced basic strokes consistency and rightaway I see the difference now! Now I like to handletter more with copperplate slant guide, dot grid or squared paper; and I've been addicted to this till I almost hate it to write on blank paper 😅🙈

    If you are like me, with arthritis or other problem with stiff fingers, it helps to relax your grip and let your arm move. Warm up by making a bunch of random circles and spirals, gradually becoming more precise. That's how I was taught, back in the pre-digital dark ages. It still works - no matter what kind of pen/pencil/brush you use. And - practice, practice, practice!

    Why is it that I can only write 1 letter per dip. :( The ink is so fast to flow. Please help me.

    • @2pixelgroup
      @2pixelgroup  6 лет назад +5

      +kingDAVID Hi, there may be 2 reasons why. Did you prepare the nib before use? Remove the anti-corrosive coating. This has an effect how much ink the nib can hold. The second reason is that your ink may be too thin like ink for fountain pens. You can try a different ink or you can try to thicken it with gum Arabic. If this didn’t help you can try a pointed pen nib with a reservoir that can hold more ink. I hope this helps you.

    • @josephroxursox
      @josephroxursox 6 лет назад +2

      kingDAVID I know your post is 4 months old, but 1 more tip that might help, do everything OP said but also make sure you dip the nib into the ink until the ink touches the "eye" of the nib. This is the little hole in the center of the nib.

    Dip pen makes thick and thin stroke automatically or we need to press the nib like pencil

    • @conradsmith9332
      @conradsmith9332 5 лет назад +1

      Too get a thicker line width you must press slightly thicker on your down stroke. Allso you can use fountain pens with a flex nib like a noodlers abab or conklin duroflex. For dip pens I recommend zebra g nibs.

    Is it posible to do Copperplate with a fountain pen? Or does it really needs to be a flex nib?
    I can do copperplate with a pencil and a ballpoint, but with my pelikan twist or my pilot metropolitan, I can’t do it, because I don’t get the line variation.
    I was quiet surprise that with a ballpoint I could get line variation but not with my fountain pens

    • @2pixelgroup
      @2pixelgroup  5 лет назад

      The line variation is possible with a flexible nib. Some fountain pens have a flex nib so it is possible but they are expensive.

    • @2pixelgroup
      @2pixelgroup  5 лет назад +1

      Dont think too much about the pen lifts. If you have to lift the pen then do it. It's normal in cursive. Maybe you can try to work on your pen hold. That is very important. By comfortly holding the pen you have more controll and less pain. Use the dynamic tripot hold. You can also turn the paper so it is parallel with your hand. Maybe the image link will help you imagine it better: i.ytimg.com/vi/w5DLE4dwrL4/maxresdefault.jpg

    Whaaat! How did you write "Copperplate" with the pen on the last part (sorry i forgot what it's called)
    If i were to do that, I will dip it again with ink after writing the letter C then after O and P, I will dip it again!

    What kind of ink? I bought a calligraphy mini pen with 3 size nibs but the ink cartridge is for fountain pens and doesn't really work. I want to try this so badly but feel doomed to fake calligraphy with my fine nib fountain pen.

    • @2pixelgroup
      @2pixelgroup  5 лет назад +1

      Hi i also used a fountain pen ink in the video. To get the various line width you need to use a dip pen with a pointed flexible nib. Those calligraphy sets are for other caligraphy styles like italic or gothic whitch are also beautiful.

      Copperplate is a classical script where you write letters with various line thickness. It's also known as English Roundhand.
