- Thanks for growing with us!
When we think of specialty evergreens, we immediately think of Iseli Nursery. Whenever we see their triangle shaped plant tag on at the garden center we know that we are looking at a very unique specimen. @iselinursery5169 have developed some of the most interesting trees and dwarf evergreens and being able to plant eight varieties in our garden is amazing!
As we plant we are adding a good amount of the Penobscot Planting Blend from @Coastofmaine It provides the rich and diverse amendments that your plants need. Formulated from compost, aged bark, oyster shell and mycorrhizae.
We are also trying out a new retractable hose reel by VEGO Watering. Follow the link below and use this code for a discount! GROWFORMEGARDENING10%OFF

Good morning, Eric and Christopher! We are so excited to see some of our plants in your beautiful garden. It was nice to see how thoughtfully you talked about each one of them. We hope you enjoy the new additions!
We are so grateful to be able to add these new trees to the garden. So many different textures and colors that make such a huge impact on the borders. The Wabi Sabi is AMAZING!!! We were lucky to pick up the Tickle Creek when the plants arrived…the leaves are so cool! Thank you thank you!
Omg I don’t know what was cuter- Christopher’s jokes, Eric singing or Eric smelling the “Christmas” tree. I laughed out loud so many times this morning. Thank you, guys!!
The evergreens look so good!
We were clearly excited about these new plants!
Haha, same. 😂
Something I like about your videos is that you don't speed up the videos. The videos are very comfortable to watch.
I'm glad that you like that. I try to keep them moving along without rushing. Definitely a huge learning curve making videos!
I agree.
Have I never seen the westside of your property…never remembering seeing those tall Evergreens.
On the west we have the Vanderwolf pine... it has gotten really big...one of our favorites
How generous of Isley to send you these beautiful trees, you're garden is absolutely gorgeous. I love all the curves in your garden.
Thanks! They are an amazing company
I love watching the teamwork between y'all and switching back and forth. And, juxtaposition is an awesome word! 😍
Gotta throw in the SAT words!
Stunning collection of trees added to your garden!!! Love all the dwarf options.
Me too!
You have the most beautiful garden from all the gardens that i’ve viewed on you tube! Love watching you guys!
Woah that's amazing. Thank you
I agree😊
That Wabi Japanese Maple is the jewel of the garden. Thank you for sharing your beautiful garden 😊.
It really is!
Nothing better than a day of planting! Looking forward to seeing these beautiful plants thrive
Me too!
It is all going to be so stunning. You guys are killing it with the roses and the evergreens and the hydrangea room. Geez summer can’t come fast enough.
Don't rush it!
The nice calm pace of your videos where we get the full experience with both of yall is part of what I think I love so much. Feels both comforting and thoroughly interesting.
We are trying to balance taking our time but also keeping the videos a manageable length.
Oh my garden goodness, that WabiSabi 💚💚💚💚💚
Right?!
I started adding evergreens to my gardens. I thank you for giving me the inspiration after watching you two!
That is awesome!
Really great additions to your beautiful garden! Appreciate how you describe your thought process for placement as it makes such a difference. Love your channel!!
The placement is a big part of the fun
I envy those beautiful British gardens. Their so beautiful.
Same!
The new additions are gorgeous guys! They will add beauty to your already beautiful garden! ❤
Thank you!
Gorgeous ,Gorgeous Gorgeous!! Additions awesome locations .thank you Eric & Christopher for sharing your beautiful garden💚🌱
I'm glad you enjoyed!
Evergreen’s just so beautiful watching your garden coming together looking so great 🌲😊
Thanks so much 😊
Good morning Eric and Christopher fantastic additions, perfect for your beautiful garden, I adore Iseli Nursery and the specimens they have, always in awe with your garden and both of you, happy gardening for the rest of the week. This is possibly one of the busiest weeks at the Nursery, so busy, so much coming in and the weather here in Northern Va has been lousy, some very hot days and rain, we needed the rain though, no rain in April that counted.
This spring has been extremely favorable in our area. Mild temperatures and just enough rain
@@growformegardening that is great😃
Last year we had a rough Spring so I'm enjoying it
Conifers and Japanese maples = my kryptonite. Great addition to the garden!
We love them
Wonderful ,my two favourite things, conifers and Japanese Maples! When I started my garden it didn't have a single conifer, its now got over 30!, mostly dwarf. The first one I bought was a dwarf blue spruce. Thoroughly enjoyed watching you two plant all those lovely trees.
Thanks! I love the tiny evergreens
Thank You for the very informative recap ending with the names & growth habits of the plants. You guys are great content creators!!
I didn’t have to rewind to get the plant names.
I have to say I am feeling much more confident with editing so this makes me very happy to know the content is helpful!
I love seeing your garden!! I miss my zone 6 garden in Rhode Island. I'm now in zone 8 in Alabama. Boy is this area difficult to garden in. You guys are great.
Oh wow. That’s a big switch!
Good Afternoon, your yard is beautiful and so tidy. Awesome job guys!!👏👏
Thanks!
Your doing such a beautiful job, love evergreens in garden 💕
Thank you so much 😊
All are beautiful additions to your garden beds! It would be difficult to decide which area of your gardens I like best! We always look forward to “the boys” releasing a new video!
Thank you so much!
Love that you put the plant names up. Thank you.
I think it's helpful!
Good morning 😊 absolutely beautiful additions to your garden!
Thank you so much 😊
I love watching your amazing videos
Glad you like them!
Wonderful video. Love the education on the new evergreens which I am sorely in need of in my garden. You guys continue to be an inspiration.
I love it!
🩷 Oh wow! Gorgeous selection of trees. They all look so good in your garden
Thanks!!!
I recently discovered your channel & it has quickly become one of my favorites! You guys are such hard workers! ALL of your work certainly pays off. 💚
That is amazing, welcome!
Indigo Girls… I got it. 🎶🎵😅
Love the new additions. 🌲🌳
Haha thanks
That Monty (Monty Don?) blue spruce is gor-geous!!!
oh I thought the same thing!
You always have the most incredible trees and shrubs. So much inspiration! Your Diana larch last year inspired me and although I couldn't find it locally, I found the Horstmanns Recurva and it's all green and budded up this spring and I love it!
Oooh I am goggling that now
I live way down south in Texas but I love your wonderful videos. Your gardens areas are spectacular. I can’t even imagine what the inside of your house looks like. Perfection.
aww thanks!
Excellent position for the Wabi sabi maple. The colours of that maple through the seasons will look phenomenal against your house.
I can’t wait for the purple beech to leaf out. That combo will be perfection
These trees ...🥰🥰🥰🥰🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲
Right!?
Love your channel ❤️ info with plant names, thanks. Beautiful garden. Ya are fun.
Thanks so much!
Love the wabi sabi. It is gorgeous and that birch, wow.
They are both really amazing
Thanks for making conifers more approachable! Well done. #personalfaves
Our pleasure! These little guys are the perfect complement to the garden
Yall are just fantastic. Hoping more and more people get to enjoy your YT channel. Yall are in my top 3 with Monty (GW) & Garden A.
That absolutely blows my mind. I am beyond flattered. Thank you
FYI Wood Crates have a trick...the boards at the bottom are quite easily removed and you can actually save the container to be reused by just popping the few bottom boards
Well that is very helpful to know. I guess we need more gorgeous Japanese maples now!
Love the Japanese Maple. They are beautiful trees. I have about 12. I want the baby blue tree so badly.
This is only our second. I could be hooked
Such beautiful trees and shrubs ❤. I enjoy your gardens so much!!!
Thank you kindly!
Love the new stuff! I think I need a few of those. I like the smaller size evergreens.
The Just Dandy Hinoki Cypress is SO CUTE
Gorgeous new additions to your gardens…..
I think so too!
Iseli has the best evergreens. The tickle is very unique. Love it! I saw an Iseli Cis Korean Fir (2x2) at the nursery yesterday that was cool looking.
I want a Korean Fir next!
😳 I have to have the Jeans dilly and the bowling ball Hinoki ❤️
They are so good!
FYI, we have some amazing local NYS tree nurseries that carry species better suited to our growing climate & region. Guernsey's Nursery in Schoharie is one of the oldest & best in NY. Not sure if you've ever been there, but if not, make it a priority! Love your channel!!
I've never been to Guernsey's but I will add it to the list.
Love your banter! I laughed out loud quite a few times watching. I loved your British gardener remark. Soil in British gardens can be pretty bad especially on a new build. I garden on clay, acidic soil but I'm trying to mulch every year, I think it really makes a difference. xx
My problem is that I've watched too much of Adam Frost on Gardener's World. He could use a soup spoon in his garden!
@@growformegardening I really like watching Adam Frost. I bet he digs over the ground before we see him digging on screen!
hahaha that would be funny
I think you should do some judicious pruning on the 'Wabi Sabi' maple. The lower branches need to be removed. If you look at the Iseli picture, you will see that it has been pruned so that the branches are off the ground. Not only will it prevent disease from developing on the leaves, it will give your maple a shape that is in greater contrast to the plants around it. Your garden looks great.
It’s a good thought…. But so hard to pull the trigger. I do agree with you but I think I have to enjoy it a little longer before lifting it at all.
If you don’t want those seedlings to come up, then before compost gets laid down put down cardboard to smother them out first
Oh I want them to come… it’s easy to relive the ones you don’t want
I want a Monty!
Best color EVER
I think for newbies you both do a beautiful job to your garden
Just magnificent I wish I had the trees you can get that I can’t get in Australia ❤❤
So nice of you
Love the vid😊😊😊😊😊😊
Thanks!!
Most of my conifers are Iseli brand. Well worth the expense!
100%
I put a 50 pound rock in my garden. It has so sunk so low that you can only see the top of it. I'm 61 years old and I refuse to dig it out 😂
Haha whoops
Sorry if I missed it, where did you put your Forsythia?
You two are my favourite garden channel to follow - thanks for all your videos and info!!! ;)
Obsessed with your garden tours
We tried to move it to the berm but unfortunately it didn't make it.
I wish you would tell us the growing zones for your new beauties!
Zip to the end of the video.... there are info cards on all the vareities
Love all the new additions. What type compost do you guys use, looking to switch from cedar mulch?
Our supplier calls it "agricultural compost". Lots of farmland around us
Ohhhhh, arborvitae! Deer Candy! It might look like a pencil in a few weeks. I had planted four beautiful ones last year and poof! Pencils in a week. UGH!
We have a handful of the Emerald Green and they have been left alone
@@growformegardening I love arborvitaes. I will try one of those. That is one of the reasons I like your channel because you have deer and rabbits. I love flowers and shrubs, I just don't want to waste money, time, and resources on a smorgasbord for furry friends.
At this point we are trying just about everything. So whatever is working we won't know! haha
🤣🤣🤣 Indigo Girls!
haha
@@growformegardening Hopefully you know my comment came from Eric singing an Indigo Girls song ❤️
Oh yes.
Like the videos. Why haven't you purchased an auger?
We have one! It's horrible and not worth damaging sprinklers
I thought verbena bonariensis was an annual in cooler climates? How did you end up with all those seedlings
The plants themselves don't come back...but they leave lots of seeds
I live in NY Hudson Valley, 5b, and would love to know where these conifers are available in our area.
There a whole bunch available at Faddegon's in Latham!
I am curious on my some tags have the hardy zone for the low, but what about the upper range? I’m in So Cal with blazing full sun in the backyard, so it’s important for me to be cautious what I plant. I love sooo many of the trees and plants in your yard!
That’s a good question! I’d contact Iseli directly, They are in Oregon so maybe they know more about west coast zones
That would be awesome to know! I have been so curious….
I hope you find what you are looking for!
Hi guys. Love all the new additions ❤ I’m mulching with compost this year. Do you think it makes a difference in the soil
Composition? I have clay soil in zone 7B
1000000000%. The areas that have been mulched with compost for just a few years are completely different to plant in.
Thank you so much for the response!!! Looking forward to better soil in the next few years ❤
It will be great
Those are amazing!!! Did they send you all those or did u order? I can’t ever find them in our area 😪
They did very kindly share these with us. We are very fortunate to have a great selection at our local nursery. We picked up the Tickle Creek Birch while we were there!
How do you research finding new evergreen shrubs for your garden? Do you just go to the nursery or do you have online resources?
We go right to the nursery. So many wonderful discoveries
Curious about you using compost as mulch. Does it keep down the weeds?
Absolutely. No worse than bark mulch and our soil is SO much improved
💙👍🏻💙
🌳🌳🌳
I love the look and idea of adding compost instead of mulch. My local nursery has mushroom compost. Is that what you use or would that be a good choice? Does it stay dark in color all year? How thick of a layer do you lay down? Lastly, is it great for depressing weeds? Thanks so much, love your videos! Have a great day
Honestly we just order in bulk compost. The supplier called it "agricultural compost"...we have lots of farmland in our area. It stays evenly colored and we go pretty thick! No more issues with weeds than other mulch
Wow those are great additions to your garden!👍😎❤️
I think so too!
