- In this video I take a first look at the Expressive-E Touché Pedal. It is a "4D" touch sensitive pedal that you can hook up to pretty much whatever synthesizer you want, wether digital, analog or VST.

I have the Touché and I can tell you it’s well worth it! Makes playing fantastically expressive!
Jason Johns: Lucky you. I just ordered one - can't wait to get my sticky little fingers on it. ;-)
Rob Stuart You’ll love it! It’s a whole new world of expressiveness seriously
Jason Johns: Yes, I was immediately hooked when I first saw the Expressive E videos several months ago. I've been patiently waiting for a Windows-compatible version of Lié. Now it's out, and my Touché is in the post! I can't wait to hook it up to my MatrixBrute. O joy of analog joys! I also have a Korg Triton classic and a laptop brimming with all kinds of software synths. What hardware/software synths do you use it with?
Rob Stuart Nice! Yeah I saw that they’d gotten it up and running for Windows- sweet!
Hi, I don't play the keyboard, but if I were to input midi notes or import midi files into my DAW, could I manipulate them with the Touché SE after? Thank you
I have this thing and I love it! Great review Bo!
I just put in an order for one of these and then Bo creates a video on it! Thanks for confirming my thoughts on an amazing product!
I love this thing! Probably my favorite thing to experiment with
I could totally see this used by a session / live musician who owns a Prophet 06; the build quality looks amazing. A demo with the Moog would be awesome, btw.
+HalutioN the m32 would be very interesting with multiple patch points! Sub37 as well but more ”classic” ofc and keyboard focused.
Ive seen this used with an m32.... it is jaw dropping!!! It allows a whole new level of expression!
Next mission for me!
I'm really curious to hear it with the SUB37. It's that hyper-musical quality of the Moog filter that I believe will really work well with the Touche.
Cool vid, thanks for sharing Bo!
I usually have my hands full, so the foot-pedal aspect really intrigues me.
is............so............beautiful!! :')
good review man!!
Thanks to open a new door! But what about iOS music - is it possible to plug it in with an iPad and work with a Animoog or other soft? And it is a possible to play with a Mac and Abelton or even Roli soft -Equator? Cos I do have a sea bord blocks and working to make a sound shapes for a buto and other dance performance happenings--thanks for your work and hope to see your answer soon . Ro
wish it wasn't so expensive, it is really cool
Thanks for the explanation.
this thing is definitely very impressive.
more like expressive, amirite? :-D
Well played !
Would love to have one, i like it more not because it gives a human touch, but it gives some otherworldly experience in music, to me. I wonder how much you had to program it to get it working like from 4:00 of video. Did you plug and play, or it takes like 2h of programming to get there? My guess, it is a lot more different from Seaboard because you can play Seaboard with both hands. Here you need an extra hand to manipulate this. I do love the direction where all of these are going.
+Tenis Dimants it took about... 10 minutes of thinking about what parameters I wanted to affect... + hooking up the actual cables for CV :-) dead simple. The idea is the hard part. And then I just messed around with it for 30-40 minutes. This was a week ago, so I have experimented more with it before finishing this early look.
BoBeats thank you Bo. Will it keep the parameters from device to device if those support the parameters or i can use it only with one specific device at time?
It has preset-slots so you can change. Don't remember how many
BoBeats awesome, thank you
I look forward to your next jam where you hopefully will find good use for this thing :)
+darxkai thanks man! I can already see this becoming a centre piece!
@@BoBeats Hi Bo as always thanks for the review! I do love your channel and my wife always tunes in too when Im watching your videos! Not sure how to take that ha. Anyway I am curious, Centre piece really? It seems gimmicky to me. I appreciate the level of control and programming is huge but still looks like a fad rather than performance tool? Are you still using happy with it?
Thanks.
Nice demo. Not sure its not something I could use in my set up. Might be cool to use in a modular configuration though.
just bought one
hey boo beats, why use it with your fingers? try using it as a foot pedal,( bear foot of course,)that was my immediate thought when I saw it.cool vids you have done
Oh but its for your hands :-) a foot won’t do you much good
Bo do u think its worth buying now or do u have any other suggestions like it..?
Really great demo thank you, CAn you tell me how easy is it to set up the parameters , can you post a demo of how you connect it all up and use the software please!! ? and on another subject can you recommend a decent budget audio interface adn studio monitors please!! ??
+Count Vespasian studio monitors: go for yamaha hs series, audio card: focusrite! :-) scarlett series. And I will take with me your ideas into the next Touché video
Hey BoBeats I'm strongly considering getting the Touché. How well does it work with Native Instruments Maschine and Komplete Kontrol? Especially when browning using the NKS presets? Can one assign it to the macros on Komplete Kontrol
great new innovation for pedal expression and you pay for what you get hope to get one some day I just got the boppad by keith Mcmillen there are allot of interesting things you can do with that also thanks for the video
Whooo, I think I need this for my MiniMoog Model D! Does it output 5v for CV?
+Marshal Arnold they are independantly configurable up to 10v
I know very little about hardware MIDI, but could there be a way to connect both a Touche and midi keyboard to a Volca keys? I'd love to noodle around with a combo like that
Can you conect to a virus ti2 desktop?
Great video! And a great controller indeed. My only gripe is the lack of windows software. But as i understand it will come soon.
It's already out. Lié is now Windows-compatible.
Yeah, it came out yesterday.
Legman Just ordered my Touché - can't wait to hook it up to my MatrixBrute 😎
How well does this work with Komplete Kontrol?
Would love another video diving deeper into this, Bo! Are you still using it? 😁
Yepp, i use it
Very impressive piece of kit, and would be great for overdubbing expression onto a midi track, Its a shame they had to go for such a high end design though, with the fancy materials, i think they might of out priced it a bit for the everyday musician, i think they should make a budget model with cheaper materials, and try and make it affordable as possible, i think they would definitely sell more units this way , and people could have the best of both worlds, :)
I also think them being a relatively new company and small company factors into the price.
I agree buddy :)
The Touché SE is out now, so wish granted!
how to decide which and what will be controlled in a plugin synrth fe. like massive.
Dear Bo, after almaar three years...do you still use this product?
Yes
Don't look too soon Bo Beats, but
Touche' has DIY Competition:
www.synthtopia.com/content/2017/09/25/make-a-diy-touch-pad-controller/
+John Richardson very cool! But also quite a long way from the Touché :-)
it's too bulk, sadly. Could be a bit smaller. But it's a pretty good product.
This is gonna sound dumb...I want to plug it into a TR-8 and noodle with snappy, hat decay, and kick attack
+Complex Games Apologist could be fun!!
Sounds like fun!
Will this work with MPC Live? Anybody know? Nobody seems to.....
Interesting channel
Is it a pedal to be pushed with a foot or a red wood relic? :)
it is a red wood relic that you push with your hands ;)
It seems the price forces to use it with hands :) Thanks for this review! Never seen this controller before.
really would like to try it with lyra 8 that I just received
would it be possible to use somehow as a MIDI to Cv kind of thing?
can it receive clock via midi and trig CV on the other side
+FRU OLLi great question! I need to explore this. But my guess is that there is no crossing between the outputs
or we need a programmer ^^
I prefer the 5-D expression devices like the Roli Seaboard RISE for my synths.
i didn't get how much they are ?
8:01
Great for moody musicians
There some iPad apps that can do Some the stuff
Definitely! An Ipad is a great option as well. More versatile and affordable. But it also lacks some features.
Can you please make some example? Thanks
Show it with a normal deep house production
It's for expressive sounds
