One fascinating aspect of this division that I learned of is that during the most recent Winter Olympics the North and South teams competed together. The Southern team incorporates a lot of English words into their communications (pass, shoot, etc) while the Northern team used exclusively Korean terms for their communications. @@CogitoEdu There are many errors in the video. I care that the clothes worn by the characters in the work are not hanbok at all. And it is difficult to understand that Korea is described as a country unilaterally affected by Japan or China. Influence of Baekje kingdom on the Japanese Asuka culture such as seven branched sword and Buddha statue, the fact that Korean potters kidnapped by Japan after the Imjin War contributed to the Japanese ceramic industry, or Bushido based on Confucian philosophy introduced to Japan through Korean Confucian scholars during the Edo Shogunate... these are did not exist?
The reason why they parted is because Japan invaded Korea and one part got free when declaring independence, but the other didn’t do it so now there are two Koreas, and they have been resting for 77 or 17 years
Whenever I hear “demilitarized zone” it sounds ironic to my ignorant butt because it’s the most guarded area on the North Korean side. The only thing that intrigued me was being told that none of the trees there were over 50 years old because of the war but I just thought it was an interesting tidbit.. not a testament to the tumultuous and abhorrent bloodshed of yesteryear.
In my opinion, this video exemplifies the strength of humanity. The Korean people I had the pleasure of conversing and hanging out with were very optimistic, happy, relaxed, and incredibly welcoming to me and my other battle buddies, and the things mentioned in this video weren’t being complained about even remotely close to how my brothers and sisters that are Afro descendent still do about slavery 150+ years ago. C’est la vie 🤷🏾♂️
Wow, all of that just to close by shitting on black people.
@@corsaircaruso471 lol
@@dell7013 I wouldn't mind if they speak about black slavery atrocities committed by white supremacists for the rest of the time!
Humanity can't drop down any lower!
I'm sorry, but many trees over hundreds of years old can still be found in Korea. Just because the number is small doesn't mean there isn't.
I'm still struggling with Identifying English accents as a non native speaker. Are you Irish by any chance?
I am very Irish

You outdid yourself with the video production here. Amazing work!
This channel has the best content & animation, explanation is great
My grandmas brother was in the Korean War, it’s sad how many people died. R.I.P to everyone who died in the Korean War.
We Indians can also feel the pain of Koreas because our country 'Hindustan' into two countries on the lines hate and politics.
History is beautiful, I remember at school learning this topic, the USSR and US
Amazing well researched video. It gave deep insight about north korean thinking. Most of videos on Nk-SK are from south korea bias. Covering almost all mistakes of South korea.
This video was the only one which explained the dark side of South korean history too.
When you said that for koreans its question of when not will... I had tears man
🤧👏👏
So informative..
8:31 Yes Koreans indeed actually call the Korean war the Yugio war. Yug-I-O standing for 6, 2, 5 respectively - since the war started on June 25th.
This video summarizes well the modern history of Korea, except for the incorrect description of Japan's forced sex slavery policy as "prostitution." Besides that, I can guarantee that this is a good quality video. Thanks for this.
2 Koreas? Those are rookie numbers.
I remember when there used to be 3 Koreas.
3 koreas ?

Hi from Romania! Please, make once a video about South America. I don't care what is it about. I believe in you. I just know it would be cool
Wow thanks for telling us about that.
I always thought North Korea was a terrible place from the first day it was founded, but now I know that is was once better then the south

That's what u got from that wow

Very heavy yet enlightening. Thank you for the video, Cogito!
Exceptional portrayal bro!!
Someone get this man to a million ....
This channel has seriously informative Documentaries. Thank You!
This video actually taught me much, and avoided it initially though for thinking that it was to basic due to the very basic sounding title.. it was way more than just scratching the surface though, and very well made.. you should have called the video title something broader in my opinion like, theatreflects the more in depth analysis you provided.
Bruh, why is there a Korean word potato up on the board of the palace🤣 at 0:50
I just used the words egg and potato for most of the Korean signs in the video. Glad someone enjoyed it :D
The reason why they parted is because Japan invaded Korea and one part got free when declaring independence, but the other didn’t do it so now there are two Koreas, and they have been resting for 77 or 17 years
안녕하세요 (hello)
I'm a south korean
Nice to meet you ^^
Whenever I hear “demilitarized zone” it sounds ironic to my ignorant butt because it’s the most guarded area on the North Korean side. It’s crazy to me that my school didn’t say much about the Korean War, since the US was a major contributor to whatever happened in Korea during the Cold War. Then again I’m not surprised given what they did.
What is the music from 0:27 to 0:36 ?
"That's a communism!" Sounds familiar somehow.

Short Answer: Cold War
Slightly Longer Answer: Stalin didn’t keep his word. McArthur got Greedy. Mao got sneaky.
I love this type of content your just like oversimplified.
God bless you cogito
Bless you :D
The ending where he showed south koreans sending balloons to north korea informing them of the outside world made me tear up. The idea that in their hearts, all koreans want for korea to become one again is beautiful
Do you think North and South Korea will ever unify in your lifetime? If so, how?
Hopefully. I obviously want the misery in the north to stop. But being from another nation carved up by colonisers I understand that the road to reunification is complicated
@@CogitoEdu I would like to see them reunify like how East and West Germany did. Both of my grandfathers were Korean War veterans. I'd hate for another war to happen.
