I got my Z9 from Georges in June 2022. No regrets. The Z8 looks good, but I would miss the following: 1. Three Function buttons on the front. 2. The larger battery life. 3. Two CF-B card slots - I shoot video on slot B, so SD not suitable. 4. The solid build. 5. The locked battery cover. 6.The built-in grip which seems custom moulded for my hand. 7. The GPS. If I had not bought the Z9, I would probably consider buying a Z8 but only due to the cost savings. I'm very sure it will sell well. D850 owners, in particular, will be very tempted. Cheers.
That is Z9. I have one. There is no way to package that giant battery without the grip. As a wedding photographer I love having an SD card to pop in to my MacBook for quick same day highlights.
@@livejames9374 I mean the "lock" on subject like R8 . At least in some videos like of the Jared Polin is really better and more accurate. All the problems incluiding in my Z6 II in that field are most the same. And I think more attencion of Nikon in that will make more sense in a body that is so fast to sports photographers. And of course to events in general.
This entire video is out of focus, the only thing that was sharp, was the test images you showed. You need a new videographer or he needs an eye test and glasses! 4K that looked worse than 480i?
Goodluck sony/canon fanboy for your paid firmware update and cripple hammer, btw Z8 is $1500 less than Z9, far less than your R3 and A1, which Z8 blows away in terms of price and flagship spec
Before you bash on nikon, sort out your sony firmware updates first. And the fact you have a sony youtube channel and come here to bash someones youtube review on nikon speaks volumes of you
@@truthseeker6804 Nah, dpreview and all other legitimate professional photographers that are also in youtub e speak highly of Z9, and z8 (which is basically a baby z9), z9 #1 in dpreview, and others, how about that. Z8 packs a punch above its weight including its autofocus that are just as good. The fact that sony fanboys like you only speak of autofocus is because Z9/Z8 blow your A1s and R3s of the world in terms of price, spec, no mechanical shutter (goodluck when you finish 300k shots on your A1), very good AF, no cripple hammer, paid firmware update (goodluck A1 fanboys), and that fact that Nikon does not have video/cinema line to protect, means Nikon crushes all competition in MIrrorless videography and photography. These themselves are a testament to Nikon, the true camera company who listens to their customers, have you have update with your A1 as yet?😅😅
Getting this camera day 1. Thank you for the positive and helpful review.

It's $1.5k cheaper than the Z9 so the trade off is understandable
Two ways the Z8 could have been better. Dual CF Express instead of mixed card slots. Using the Z9 battery in the external battery grip.
I can think of more than two ways the R5 and A7R V could have been better.

I had thought the same thing about the battery but the voltage of the two batteries is different.
that makes 0 sense lmfao, just buy the Z9 then.
It’s also the z8 is bigger then z9 with the grip
Yes! It's as good as the R5!
Easily the best camera
Nikon should have improve the AF tracking. At least equal or better as Canon R8 . And a possibility to use the same battery of the Z9 with a grip.
Z8 will track better than the R8. It’s the subject detection that is a bit behind.

No, The Z9 is Nikon's best camera ever...
no because its been throttled back and the z9 is not

It’s just a baby Z9 get over it.
It’s the best hybrid mirrorless camera sub $4k on the market. Nobody else offers this tech at this price.
Now all Sony has to do to answer is price the A1 for $4K.
