Exactly, but I'm not getting one after seeing the battery performance. My main bodies are the D6, but I have and use the D850 as well. I really wish the Z8 would've allowed for an adapter to use the EN-EL18D batteries in the vertical grip. I get that most people don't buy the Z8 along with the grip, but I am someone who's always used flagships and or prosumer bodies with grip. It's amazing what the Z8 can do, especially for the price point. it cost me at least $4,000 USD for the D850 plus grip kit! So getting 20fps, 8K 60, internal ProRes RAW, etc., etc., is amazing, however the battery life is a deal breaker. Nikon screwed up with the vertical grip option. It takes two batteries but not in a way that helps me and there is no adapter to use EN-EL18 series batteries. I have D6 (x2) and D850 with grip and three EN-EL18d batteries...and I rarely charge them...they last me weeks at times. Carrying and needing extra batteries is just not for me. At least the Z8 has made the cost of used Z9's come down, so I might just one day get a Z9 and replace my D850 and one D6, and just have a D6/Z9 combo. However I am still not sure I want to do this, because I actually really prefer OVF over EVF...as I have light sensitivity issues related to my TBI/CTE. The Canon R3's OVF simulation mode is about the best I've seen in an EVF and the Z9 is not bad, but I do prefer the OVF experiences, especially when shooting for hours or all day long. We are already starring at blue light screens all day, from our phones to laptops, etc.! One last sorta concerning point for me is that I know of at least 5 different Z9 users who've had to send their Z9's in for service and repairs, within the 1 year warranty period. I've shot every Nikon flagship and prosumer camera made since 1999, when I sold my F5/F100's for the D1! it's amazing the D1 was $4999 in 1999, and over two decades later, you can buy the latest Z9 flagship for less money, when inflation is added in. Kudos to Nikon for breaking barriers on price and innovation. The 800pf lens another example if just how well Nikon is doing compared to the competition. Canon is gluing EF-RF adapters to old super-tele lenses and calling them new RF super-tele's and now they've glued 2x TC's onto the back of 400mm f/2.8L IS III and 600mm f/4L IS III lenses and adding a mount adapter, than magically they have 800mm f/5.6 and 1200mm f/8 lenses for nearly $20,000? Meanwhile Nikon is innovating, releasing brand new optical designs with built in1.4x teleconverter's! Not only the Nikon 400mm and 600mm primes sharper than their Canon counterparts, they are also much more usable or versatile with the built-in 1.4x TC. Effectively giving you both a 400mm f/2.8 and a 560mm f/4 or a 600mm f/4 or 840mm f/5.6, for less money than the Canon, since you'd need two lenses or have to attach a TC in the field, which is never fast or pretty. Now I'm splitting hairs here IQ wise, truth is Canon also makes amazing lenses. It's just Nikon is innovating in so many ways, that I feel in some ways, Nikon is embarrassing Canon and Sony. Once you buy a grip and two CFexpress Type A card's...the Sony A1 costs over $7,200 USD. So the Z9 and Z8 are definitely ground breaking!
yeah I mean the only reason to pay the ridiculous price for the A1 was flagship specs in a small body. Now the Z8 offers that for $4000. Plus better lens prices. Unless you are a Sony super fan, there is basically no reason to go with an A1 anymore.
@@josh885 Especially since Sony rarely if ever offers discounts and then the huge issue of no firmware updates? I’ve never liked Sony cameras due to their ergonomics and feel in my hands. However their image quality and autofocus is amazing and I’m not against Sony, it’s just not for me. I’m a dual Nikon D6 and D850 backup shooter. I’m a photojournalist, so battery life, durability and survivability, along with low light performance is most important! This is why I’ve decided to stay with the D6. I bought a Z9 NPS priority and was not impressed with the noise performance. Also the built in Wifi/wireless is not reliable enough for me. I use and have been using the WT-6A and formally the WT-5A since 2014 with the D4s and it’s 100% reliable and works up to 650ft range! Whereas the SnapBridge and built wireless is much less reliable and only has a very short range. Being able to transmit images immediately from my D6’s is so important and the Z9 just can’t compete. It lacks a port for the wireless adapter. So does the Canon R3, so I’m really not sure where to go in the future. I guess I’ll keep using the D6? Should last me another 5 years?
I switched from Nikon to Sony when I went mirrorless. Sony’s firmware policy has given me thoughts of switching back. Nikon’s new cameras and price points are catching my attention even ,pre.
@@Moriningland the fact that there are no meaningful updates. As a result, you pay more and get less. The $2200 ZX-E1 has features that the $6500 a1 flagship lacks, for example.

As a Nikon photographer, I’m absolutely ecstatic for this release coming from the Z6II and Z5 as my 2nd body and I can’t wait to get my hands on the Z8 and glad I woke up early to preorder. I enjoy your videos my friend and thanks for your thoughts.
Nice quick review of hte Z8 Manny. Thanks for an unbiased look at the camera. I like you off script brother. Makes you real. Thanks for dropping by my stream today. That was class brother and I appreciate it.
I had the D850 but the Z7II wasn’t really an upgrade. Now when Nikon has the lens lineup and the Z9 was introduced I bought it. But it’s heavy and big. I’m gonna sell it and buy this.
For, me it's an insult to compare the Z8 to the R5, and A7R V, what your not mentioning in your video is that the Z8, is better than the R3 and A1 in some respects.
I currently have a Z7ii for professional workflow and looking to upgrade for Video and overall hybrid use , what would you suggest if you had to buy just one...will you go for a Z9 or a Z8. I've tried them both... but still having difficulty in deciding, would appreciate your suggestion.
I just listened to the end a second time (1yr later) After shooting the Z8 for 9months professionally..... The Z8 is the very best camera I have used !!!!! Now 1 year after Your video the Nikon System has an amazing group of lenses available !!!!! Thank You :) :) :)
Dear Mr. Ortiz Great video. With a lot of good views on this Z8 beast. If I wasn’t so heavily invested in original Sony lenses I would really be tempted to switch. What a camera. Can’t wait to see your videos when you have tried the Z8.
Manny, I checked this out and your other videos. I may have missed it, but I never saw you shoot the Z9 with HSS out on a street or somewhere outside of the controleld studio environment, continuous lighting or natural light. Have your tried it out on the streeet with HSS like many of your other videos? Everyon else I see seems to avoid this scenario as well and I wonder if that is because of the ventian blind effect the electronic shutter has with HSS in this camera. You if anyone could figure this out, which is why I'm asking.
Gear video Manny. Quick question. Random question. What’s the height of your studio. Moved from a warehouse and thinking to move to a large office building with 11’ ceiling. Coming from 22 😢. Looks like yours is around 10-11’ ?
Always value your thoughts Manny! I really like that you shoot all systems and that you come across as genuine and completely unbiased, which is a lot more than can be said for most photography RUclipsrs out there. I have just ordered my Z8, moving from a Z6ii and Z5 which I use for weddings, and despite watching lots of videos, am still uncertain of what exactly to expect. Thank you for this video, it was really helpful and I simply cannot wait to get my new camera. Keep up the awesome work!
Would you think that the Nikon Raw is a game changer for choosing between Sony & Nikon or would u rather prefer the Slog3 workflow for pro video work Your view will be valuable
Nikon can keep being regarded as the “underdog” if it means a camera like this at this price 😮😊. I was waiting for a Z6III or Z5II, but I’m seriously considering splurging and picking this up instead..
@Manny Ortiz, You might want to keep the Z9 because Nikon will get in touch with you soon to test the Z 35mm 1.2 and Z 135mm lenses, which will all be released this year. The moral of the story is that Nikon is going to keep you busy this year with new lenses and that's good for all of us👍😎

Great video! I really want this camera! What do you think is the quickest way to get hold of one in the Chicago area? Is there a store likely to get stock in right away, or is it better to go online?

Never owned or for that matter used a, Nikon. I did watch your review of the Z9 and it did peak my interest but, I eventually ended up going with the Canon R5. I’m not disappointed. Keep doing what you are doing man. You are an inspiration to many.
@AndyGiles-xm3kg R5 is great, its still one of the best stills camera I shot but I switched to Z8 and it slaps R5 in video hands down not even a competition. My R5 melts if I take a 4k 120fps video for anything more than 4 mins.

Mainly interested in video and got the FX3 for that. For photo I think Nikon is king. I never liked the ergos of Sony alpha series. The Z8 beats the R5 and A7r5 because of the stacked sensor, insane video specs and ergos. The af of the z9 is better than on my fx3. It’s at the point where it’s really more than good enough. Af is the only thing that Sony fanboys still cling onto, which at this point becomes silly as the af from Canon and Nikon Z8/Z9 is more than good enough.
I really like the channel! Can you please share your thoughts/info on what to expect from the lifetime of Z8? The shutter is not mechanical but Nikon doesn't state anything about the endurance and wearing out so it is not unlimited. My guess here; if this is the replacement for D850 then it should be 0.5Millions shots 5-7 years without a problem && do you think here, is it a the right choice for someone no who has no lens (new system) or better go with Canon or even Sony
Matt Granger tested the production Z8 for overheating and battery life with video. The RAW video drained the battery in about 27 minutes as I recall. The Z8 did overheat and stop in situations where the Z9 always kept on going, and that was in a cool room.
Actually watched the whole thing, very good thank you. Currently shoot A1 an A7RV and did try the Z9 for a year but it’s size and weight was too overwhelming. My try a Z8 bur wonder if you think a A1 + A7RV combo eliminates the need for a Z8? Let me know.
Great video! I WATCHED the whole video. I'm looking to upgrade from a D750. Recently started shooting local sports. I was looking between a used Z9 and new Z8 and you sold me on the Z8.
The Nikon Z9 had/has a lot of new groundbreaking features built into it. Some, like the stacked sensor, are still not available on any other camera of any brand. With the Nikon Z8, you have those features that have been beta tested by Z9 users. Thank you Z9 users for beta testing what will be my new Z8.
Z8, some major drawbacks. With SD card as backup with overflow..does that limit the FPS and buffer speeds? also the camera is bigger than the Z9 with battery grip. without battery grip, battery life is worst than Z9. also no ethernet, and no GPS on Z8. personally I won't purchase a Z8 to partner up with my Z9. I will need to get another Z9. Also brings up the question on FPS with and without the battery grip. they also cut out the FPS dial on the top left and need to use function button instead. to compare with other camera manufacturers...this was the easiest and cheapest way to kill the competition without doing any R&D. They didn't really hit the mark for current Z9 users. for Z7 and Z6 owners, great upgrade..but then why wouldn't they just jump to a Z9 considering after buying battery grip, only 900 dollars off. used Z9 will kill all lol Z8 just missed the mark for current Z9 users, for me anyhow.
I just have a hard time wrapping it around my head when people start complaining about the weight of these cameras. the nikon Z7ii is 705grams (1.55lbs) the nikon Z8 is 910grams ( 2.01lbs) it's a 1/2 lbs difference and vs the lighter sony cameras the difference in weight still doesn't even add up to 1lbs difference.
I'm not quite getting the rationale behind basically cloning the Z9 in a slightly smaller body and making it a little cheaper. I would have preferred a slightly cheaper body with slightly better video than just 8-bit h264. I guess the Z6iii is probably more what I'm waiting for.
I doubt they will. They don't have a high resolution stacked sensor in production. It will probably be used first in the R1, then a few years later come out in an R5 form. So you are looking at 36 months minimum.
@@303badassboxer I wouldn't...you want to get those initial sales from your flagship, before releasing a less expensive version, and yes they make the R3 sensor, but it is half the resolution of the R5
for someone that has muscles it should not effect you. i am not body builder only used to picking up lumber by the board. i can hand hold Z9 FTZ 2 and sigma 120-300mm and does not bug me i can hold for long times or walk around holding with 2 to three finger and do not feel weight. hard for me pick up anything 35 one hand.
The real rant should be they removed subject tracking from the stills side and did not allow us to swap between the current focus mode and the 3D tracking with assigning it to FN1 button. You can assig. 3D to FN1 but you have to hold the FN1 button down to remain in 3D tracking mode. I’m so mad about this as the z7ii worked this way but my Z8 does not.
Here's something to think about. The z6/z7 were cameras that were put out just to get something out there. The 2nd gen bodies are a little better but we've been disappointed that they haven't been improved with more firmware updates. And you are right, we do get updates quite often. One thing people are overlooking is that Nikon has been putting quality lenses out. Most of the z lenses have little to no focus breathing or chromatic aberration. The z mount is the king of mounts. We can adapt more lenses than any other system. We can't adapt Sony, Canon EF, Minolta and many offers. Nikon also allows third party companies to manufacture lenses unlike Canon (they will be soon). There's a saying in photography. Date the camera and marry the lenses. I think that's why it's taken so long for Nikon to catch up with the cameras compared to what Canon has put out. Sony has been there for a while I'm the mirrorless system and Canon had the M line so it's not new to them. And now the zf has just come out. That's an interesting camera. Especially for street photography. It gives us a look at what the third gen z6/z7 will be like. I think the z6 III will have even better video features. I think it will be around a 33 MP range and will have 6k video. And look at the new 135mm f/1.8 Plena just came out. Wow! That's a lens you need to look into and do a video on. The z8 will probably be my next body. I'm saving up for it. I might sell my z6 II when the z6 III comes out. I want you see what will be different between it and the zf.
Honestly I would switch to Nikon with this camera but for one reason; lenses. I shoot wildlife and can't really afford the sweet but high priced lenses from Nikon. I love my Sony 200-600, and feel that while Sony bodies for wildlife are falling behind (A9 and A1) at its price point the Sony 200-600 provides a performance better than alternatives from Canon or Nikon. I can say I'm hoping for the Sony A9III fixes some of the shortfalls, but I fear it will still be 24MP and will jump in price to $5K. Nikon bodies are enviable right now.
THANKYOU FOR BEING HONEST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have watched You as long as I can remember,, and You have always been an honest UN-BIASED person !!!!!!!!! THANKYOU :) :) :)
R5 still has a solid focusing system than Nikon’s mirrorless..ill just hang on to my Z7ii for now..Nikon failed the owners of the Z6ii/Z7ii about firmware updates..was hoping the 2-processor’s is a game changer but i was wrong..
It is not 99% of the same camera. There are critical differences, including the frame rate when clearing the buffer while shooting stills as well as the two CF express card slots on the Z9 vs. one on the Z8 & the longer video recording time for the Z9. Adding a grip to the Z8 plus the extra battery brings the Z8 to within about $1K of the Z9 & also makes the body even bigger than the Z9. I would say the Z8 is about 85% of the Z9.
I've been a Canon shooter for 20 years and Nikon has never intrigued me at all. It still doesn't. But it's nice that Nikon and Sony have finally caught up to the R5 after all these years.
one of the most important words from your video Manny is " Unbiased content " that why im still here after many years thanks for that . Sony's firmware policy and the fact they skyrocketed their price for example on the A7 Range which is seems to be the " Basic" Shocked and desappointed me . Nikon take time to shake their world and the Market but their do it with the Z9 and now with the Z8 with the price . Canon extend their range whearas Sony only extend vlog range ( honestly i dont understand their strategy , who is the real target) and i feel their fear to canibalize the different range , so put less effort in improvement of the A7 Range : 2 generations ( A7 III , A7 IV) with 10 FPS in electronic and mechanical Shutter when Canon renew quickly the R6 with the Mark II with 40 Fps on the electronic shutter . they have also the leadership in some technologies like the new triple stacked sensor which was announced since the end of 2021 , but they prefer to raised their price in a Unlegitimate way without some true contributions ...
Rant, Nikon sucks! I waited patiently for years to upgrade my D810’s while Nikon took their sweet time to get into mirrorless. Once they did, they were producing mediocre cameras. When they finally made a good one it was almost 6k. I finally got tired of waiting and decided to jump to Sony and I spent 4k into the A7RV which it’s a great camera but I’m starting from scratch planning which lenses I’m going to get into it to make it different from Nikon. Problem is that I have all my Nikon lenses and I’m not gifting them away for those other companies to resell them and make bank so at some point I might be buying a Z8, I just wish it would’ve come out years ago
If you have all the Nikon lenses, sell the Sony A7RV, and buy the Z8. As the saying goes, you date the body and marry the lenses. All the companies make good bodies now, and bodys are always improving, lenses do not improve as fast and it is expensive to switch systems.
@@jeni719 the thought crossed my mind but I still believe the A7RV it’s a superior camera, so it wasn’t a mistake to get it. I might treat it the way ppl treat the A74 when it comes to video
You nailed it ! they needed a more dynamic screen and its too small the frame/ bezal , is more than the viewing screen when added up . The tech is old now , it's same same again as the older Z9. It has the same two year old insides as Z9 .The Z7II is looking more of a bargain now with a grip and its not as big or heavy as this Z8 or Z9 . The Z8 has become even more bigger than Z9 with a grip . This is wrong , should have been smaller with the grip. Nikon made Z8 grip way too big and looks rushed again .If you want gripped Z8 just get the Z9 it better as battery life much better , they designed it deliberately so you cant use Z 9 battery on Z8 another deal breaker . Even in the old D850 grip I can use a Z9 , D3, D4, D5 ,D6 Battery in the detachable D850 grip .This is why even in 2023 the D850 is still amazing for taking photos ,focus peaked equiped , video capable powerhouse .
I disagree. Not all cameras need to be vlogger cameras. Especially not a heavy duty pro photography camera. I swear these silly RUclipsrs would review an Arri Alexa and complain it wasn’t tailored to their use.
Nikon is basically doing the same D3/D700 strategy, when they launched the D700 after they came up with the flagship D3. D700 is basically a smaller version of D3 with only minor differences while everything else is similat, giving working pros a lighter, cheaper back up body with similar capabilities.
D700 had some major differences. D3 better in ISO and 10fps, D700 less ISO capabilities and 5 FPS. they worked well together cause they complimented each other, not because they were same/same
When you said " i assume you're just listening on your airpods" i felt so called out. was editing photos with you talking in another tab lol. Great video as always
Manny, Z8 needs a big heat sink to dissipate heat when recording 8k60 or 4k120. Or it will overheat like the Canon R5. Thats why its heavy. The difference between heif and jpg is heif = 10bit (Z8) while jpg is 8bit. I think the file size is also much smaller.

@@josh885 agreed
Yep as a Nikon shooter it was a long wait. But this is the one I was waiting for! This is the perfect camera for me!
I switched from Nikon to Sony when I went mirrorless. Sony’s firmware policy has given me thoughts of switching back. Nikon’s new cameras and price points are catching my attention even ,pre.
You will not regret switching back. Did so when I got the Z9
do it, sony comands good prices still on the second hand market, it's the perfect time
What was the problem with Sonys updates. I’m curious to know. I stuck with the d850 and I’m ready to go mirrorless

No mechanical shutter and extreme weather seal is enough profit for us professionals. Will last a long time. Also as a Z9 user, I just would like a Z6III with Expeed 7. The rest is all about lenses

Manny don’t ever put yourself down - you’re up there with the best man! 🤜🏽
I think Manny said what everyone already "knows" but the fact that he says it makes me want this camera twice as much.😅
And can you explain the differences and benefits between stacked sensor and non-stacked sensors.
As a Nikon photographer, I’m absolutely ecstatic for this release coming from the Z6II and Z5 as my 2nd body and I can’t wait to get my hands on the Z8 and glad I woke up early to preorder. I enjoy your videos my friend and thanks for your thoughts.
I love my Nikon z6ii and z5 models. Best combo ever
Hi Manny what do you do with your old gear? Love from south Africa 😊
Will prefer the z8 to z9 cos of the size.
Balancing z8 on gimbal will be much easier than the z9.
Hey, Nikon z8 is good for advertising photography? like fashion, product, food, architecture...
Dear Mr. Ortiz
Great video.
The sd card will prevent dual recording in some some modes.
Z9 also won't dual record video.
@@makatron thats terrible. My R6II can dual record.
Keep up the awesome work!
second hand Z9 or new Z8? I don't remember what you were selling it for.
Would you think that the Nikon Raw is a game changer for choosing between Sony & Nikon or would u rather prefer the Slog3 workflow for pro video work
Your view will be valuable
Great video! As someone who uses multiple camera brands, if you had to choose one camera for pleasure and one for work, which bodies would you choose?
Hi Manny is there is anyway you can make a video in the future for best lenses for the Z8 and Z9 prime, wide angles and zoom lenses?
I appreciate your ADHD @Manny Ortiz because I'm interested in your unfiltered, unbiased, and unscripted thoughts. Never ever apologize for it!.👍
I don't really like the design but it's great value for the money, the backlit buttons are amazing
Nikon z8 is the cheaper and leaner z9. The wait was too long but oh well.
Nikon can keep being regarded as the “underdog” if it means a camera like this at this price 😮😊. I was waiting for a Z6III or Z5II, but I’m seriously considering splurging and picking this up instead..
Does anyone know if Nikon Z8 can record video on both cards at the same time? Thanks
It doesnt
@@frickseerose6146 :(
@Manny Ortiz,
You might want to keep the Z9 because Nikon will get in touch with you soon to test the Z 35mm 1.2 and Z 135mm lenses, which will all be released this year. The moral of the story is that Nikon is going to keep you busy this year with new lenses and that's good for all of us👍😎
No 180-600mm?

Hi !!
Can I take photos while video recording?

Is Sony A7RV better than Nikon Z8?
very disappointed with Sony a1 firmware update are slow and messed up my Wi-Fi capabilities and support is really bad i am going to add the z 8 to my echo system
Great video! I really want this camera! What do you think is the quickest way to get hold of one in the Chicago area? Is there a store likely to get stock in right away, or is it better to go online?
your review is good. I like to know about the Nikon Z battery. I like that you are authentic in your delivery, your spontaneous, you are who you are as you are.
I watch to the end on all of the videos even when you randomly cut them off and im like
......... is something wrong with my internet ? 😂😂
Never owned or for that matter used a, Nikon. I did watch your review of the Z9 and it did peak my interest but, I eventually ended up going with the Canon R5. I’m not disappointed. Keep doing what you are doing man. You are an inspiration to many.
Z8 is so much better than R5
@AndyGiles-xm3kg R5 is great, its still one of the best stills camera I shot but I switched to Z8 and it slaps R5 in video hands down not even a competition. My R5 melts if I take a 4k 120fps video for anything more than 4 mins.
That’s all your going to hear man “why I left Sony, why I left canon etc etc lol no matter what camera you buy it’s like a cell phones the minute you get your money up to buy a good camera it’s already old by RUclipsrs. Awesome camera but just watch as we all know we are going to hear this all over again people, just sit down look around at the cameras and decide weather anyone of these camera brands is the right tool for what you have going on and go with it lol the FOMO is real I was caught up in this spending this type of money every two years dude be grateful with what you decide to get either it a price of 4000$ or 1500$ because you can end up with a lot of high end stuff that you really don’t need people.
Great review dude and I made it to the end because I respect what you have to say. I'm a Nikon Z6ii shooter for my wedding photography so this Camera would be an awesome upgrade and I cant wait to get it.
I'm curious to know which lenses are missing in the Nikon Line up that would use on the Sony's. I have 6 Nikon s-line lenses now and they are all incredible. Cheers G
Yea i watched al of this video too geoff haha
Mainly interested in video and got the FX3 for that. For photo I think Nikon is king. I never liked the ergos of Sony alpha series. The Z8 beats the R5 and A7r5 because of the stacked sensor, insane video specs and ergos. The af of the z9 is better than on my fx3. It’s at the point where it’s really more than good enough.
Af is the only thing that Sony fanboys still cling onto, which at this point becomes silly as the af from Canon and Nikon Z8/Z9 is more than good enough.
Z8 is a better video cam compared to Sony video cams below 7k USD. Period. It should be compared to the A1, which is way overpriced.
Type b cards are not expensive compared to v90 sd cards
Or Type-A which only Sony uses !!!!
Nikon is back!
I really like the channel! Can you please share your thoughts/info on what to expect from the lifetime of Z8? The shutter is not mechanical but Nikon doesn't state anything about the endurance and wearing out so it is not unlimited. My guess here; if this is the replacement for D850 then it should be 0.5Millions shots 5-7 years without a problem
&& do you think here, is it a the right choice for someone no who has no lens (new system) or better go with Canon or even Sony
YOU STILL THE MAN MANNY ADHC and all. Keep the unbiased reviews coming.
I made it to the end - really appreciate this detailed listing of your thoughts about the z8 in relation to its competition
Great video Manny.....great sincere unbiased review.
Come on Manny. We love hearing what you have to say. Keep on keeping on. 🤞🏾✌🏾
Z8 will be the Icon👑 (D850)
Nikon is going for market share with these mirrorless cameras.
I’m going to buy it coming from DX
It’s the video specs and price of that stack sensors. Plus I like the speed of Nikon when turning on like instant
I make to the end of your videos! Your insight and perspective is priceless for people like me that are trying to make informed decisions for gear.
A1 is still king 👑
Unless Newsshooter specs are wrong, 2.6lbs to 2.0lbs is not 30% lighter. It's 23% lighter. It's 30% smaller in physical size though.
It makes a lot of sense when you look at everything on the market in the $3500-$4300 range...
Hey I sent you an email about buying the z9 and any lenses you have.
Hopefully this forces Canon to make the R5 ii a stacked sensor
We can hope...I'll be surprised if they deliver. (this decade)
I doubt they will. They don't have a high resolution stacked sensor in production. It will probably be used first in the R1, then a few years later come out in an R5 form. So you are looking at 36 months minimum.
@@tstanley01 you don’t think they’ll release the R1 and R5ii close to each other?
@@tstanley01 and don’t they still produce the R3 sensor?
@@303badassboxer I wouldn't...you want to get those initial sales from your flagship, before releasing a less expensive version, and yes they make the R3 sensor, but it is half the resolution of the R5
Manny, thanks for an awesome review!😊
for someone that has muscles it should not effect you. i am not body builder only used to picking up lumber by the board. i can hand hold Z9 FTZ 2 and sigma 120-300mm and does not bug me i can hold for long times or walk around holding with 2 to three finger and do not feel weight. hard for me pick up anything 35 one hand.
There are some solid adaptors for Sony to Nikon and the 200-600 (or 180-600) js a very near upcoming release.
Rumor has it that Nikon will release 180-600mm this year
Thanks for the review. Great perspective, hopefully Nikon is watching and considers your excellent suggestions for improvement.
Interesting - do you think a Z7iii is coming out anytime soon?
It is not 99% of the same camera. There are critical differences, including the frame rate when clearing the buffer while shooting stills as well as the two CF express card slots on the Z9 vs. one on the Z8 & the longer video recording time for the Z9. Adding a grip to the Z8 plus the extra battery brings the Z8 to within about $1K of the Z9 & also makes the body even bigger than the Z9. I would say the Z8 is about 85% of the Z9.
Please don't be mislead, many people including myself watched RUclips videos from start to finish. 💯
I've been a Canon shooter for 20 years and Nikon has never intrigued me at all. It still doesn't. But it's nice that Nikon and Sony have finally caught up to the R5 after all these years.
😂😂
Clown.
Not for me. Keep my Z6ii and buy more z glass.
one of the most important words from your video Manny is " Unbiased content " that why im still here after many years thanks for that .
Flip out screen for Nikon and I’m switching too!
Fantastic video. Just got a Z8.
thank you Nikon, because you sure screwed up a LOT,back to back ,from the D850 until the Z9..oh and the other 15+ recalls
Obvious Sony troll is obvious.
@@robeson1231 how is that?
If you have all the Nikon lenses, sell the Sony A7RV, and buy the Z8. As the saying goes, you date the body and marry the lenses. All the companies make good bodies now, and bodys are always improving, lenses do not improve as fast and it is expensive to switch systems.
@@jeni719 the thought crossed my mind but I still believe the A7RV it’s a superior camera, so it wasn’t a mistake to get it. I might treat it the way ppl treat the A74 when it comes to video

Love the ending man❤
You nailed it ! they needed a more dynamic screen and its too small the frame/ bezal , is more than the viewing screen when added up .
This camera is better than any toy currently on sale by Sony and Canon.
I disagree. Not all cameras need to be vlogger cameras. Especially not a heavy duty pro photography camera. I swear these silly RUclipsrs would review an Arri Alexa and complain it wasn’t tailored to their use.
Fantastic video. Your perspective is gold.
Nikon is basically doing the same D3/D700 strategy, when they launched the D700 after they came up with the flagship D3.
D700 is basically a smaller version of D3 with only minor differences while everything else is similat, giving working pros a lighter, cheaper back up body with similar capabilities.
And d700 was released exactly at the time of recession july d700 launch, August Lehman brother collapse 😂
D700 had some major differences. D3 better in ISO and 10fps, D700 less ISO capabilities and 5 FPS. they worked well together cause they complimented each other, not because they were same/same
Legend! Love your honest opinion. Well done my friend
Goodbye Nikon. Hello Nikon. Make up your mind lol
CFE type B cards are not “much more expensive” than good SD cards. Type B cards are actually cheaper now if you buy large capacity.

I got my R5 on Aug 1, 2020. So the R5 is nearly 3 years old, not a couple.
But the a7r5 is not a video camera and it's bad rolling shutter. I gave it back and just have a Sony a7c for videos....
Low sound on the left channel tought....
