- In this video, I'll be showing you a really cool trick that you can use to repair weapons that are almost out of durability, as well as how to add or change the modifiers on your weapon!
Игры
I was hoping they would add in a blacksmith that would be able to do this for a price but this is pretty cool too
I know right! I honestly prefer this in a way, it feels more big brain than going to a vendor that's intended to do it xD
@@rayart9293 true. these games thrive in letting the player be as creative as possible, so that is a good outlook on it
I just wish this was more well known, the only way the player can find out is through loading screen tips and tricks that randomly appears
Yeah, I know how you feel. Though I also love the community aspect of it where these things are found and shared by everyone who's playing and enjoying the game
If your sages are out they kill the bad guy
Finally someone who speaks sense on the modifiers! Great video was only after what was the maximum value on the modifiers. Also few things I didn't know. Cheers.
Thank you very much. This is the first video i found that shows you how to actually repair stuff
Thanks I was worried I might lose my Hylian shield but I'm going to use it with 0 restrains now
Thank you for taking your time to find the location
Most tedious part of making this video: getting the Hylian Shield to almost break for the thumbnail. I was tanking the White Lynel below Hyrule Castle for 40 minutes straight LOL
Amiibo weapons, gloom weapons and staffs are set in the game's code to never have modifiers
@@echocolatowo I thought that may be the case, but it's great to have official confirmation!
Also, thank you so much for your work on the modifier datamining, it helped a bunch with the making of this video and figuring out this mechanic!
@@rayart9293 you're welcome ! I didn't even know you used it but it's always great to know it :)
was there no image online 😭
@@actualatom none with TotK's menu visuals 😭
Atleast for the signature weapons that cost 3 times the amount of diamonds as the first game they should make this free. However, I was also worried of breaking my demon kings bow so this makes me feel better about using it since it looks so cool.
I agree, they made the Champion's weapons much more expensive, really sucks
@@rayart9293 does it even work for them? i tried my great eagle bow but it just spits it back right away
@@dr.harvid8904 it does, but you'll have to use the workaround I mentioned in the video where you fuse it to another item and then separate them in Tarrey Town :(
@@rayart9293 that only restores tho, right? Does it also add upgrades?
@@dr.harvid8904 it does not, sadly. Amiibo weapons, Champion's weapons, and elemental rods are hard coded to never have modifiers :(
thanks, I was unsure if this applied to the hylian shield as well, since it kind of is like a legendary weapon
Thank you for the video! I was wondering why sometimes I would throw equipment at the rocktorock and it would come back with the same modifier, is that because the gold modifier can't be changed?
I'm currently pondering a way to state transfer a modifier onto a legendary/amiibo weapon.
extremely late to the video, but as far as testing durability up+ (yellow modifier) on a hylian shield for max durabilty, how should we test for the max possible amount?
Is there a way to enchant magic rods, scepter, and staffs? For example: adding durability on it?
great video of a great trick! tnx
Thank you!
Id shield guard up better than durability on hylian shield?
Yes. Defense guard also helps durability and more so. Here is an example of how it works. If an attack is less than the guard then it is automatically a decrease in durability by 1. However if it is more than the guard value than it is the remainder(I think that is what the sum for subtraction is it has been years).
Let's compare defense and durability bonuses
138 attack versus a 90 defense shield is a 48 reduction in durability which makes the remaining durability the same as if a guard plus took the hit here is proof. 100 minus 138 is 38 and 800 minus 38 is 752. 810 minus 48 is also 752. Since the guard reduces strong enough attacks by ten until it breaks, it is better. Infact a durability up can 17 hits rounded up compared to the guard boost's 21 rounded down. The only situation where the durability plus is better is against enemies with less than 90 attack and even then the durability is so high that the plus 10 is a little overkill not to mention what the shield guard also does outside of durability.
what a pain of a work around just add regular weapon repair nintendo
could you tell us what that weapon is in your inv that does 190 dmg?
It is a Royal Guard's Claymore with a Silver Lynel Horn attached.
Royal Guard's weapons have the new effect "Breaking Point", which makes them do quadruple damage in the 3 hits before they break. I use this weapon when I mount Lynels since that doesnt consume durability!
(Mine is a Decayed Claymore with +8 attack)
Once you get a gold +10 modifier on a weapon and you have to repair it. Does the octorock change the modifier?
Yes it does, so you'd have to reload until you get the desired modifier again sadly
So actually it is more useful to have shield guard up on the hylian shield in TotK as an extra 10 is no bug deal but the 10 shield guard up would reduce even more durability.
Are we sure that amiibo weapons can never get any stat modifiers?
important question: he didn't fuse all his weapons, the clean weapons were unfused... why? do infusions have a negative effect as well? or is it just because they look better?
It's because I haven't fused them yet haha
When i need them, I'll fuse them before using :D
Thank you so much, I don't have the amiibi and got fierce deity blade from the quest, almost lost it.
There might be an in-game way to get that sword and other amiibo equipment again ;)
I've done 2 of the regional phenomena and they are insta-killing the rock before it can clean my weapon...can you dismiss them?
Yup, go into your key items in your inventory, there are glowing "vow" items there that you can use to dismiss/summon the sage avatars.
Thanks for the top! I was sad to see there's no way to get a second fierce diety sword but I suppose this is the best way to conserve the one!
Buy an amiibo😂
You could get multiple if you have Amiibo or are playing on homebrew software.
The Amiibo option is the better out of the two tbh, and you can get like 40 NFC amiibo cards for 20$. Adds sooo much convenience and content to both botw and totk, highly recommend
You can purchase the fierce deity sword for poes once you find enough poe statues and have already acquired the sword, same with any other amiibo weapons
@@vincemays7599 oh wow I had no idea, thanks! Can you get another hylian shield or something that way too???
Can you use this to restore durability to a weapon that has 0 durability? Or do they vanish from your inventory if they break fully? I havent played the game so I dunno how it workd.
If they break fully, they're gone from your inventory. The exception is the Master Sword, but you can't drop it so it still wouldnt work xD
@@rayart9293 I see I see. Guess I could justs top using weapons that I like, and then repair them before that happens. Thanks.
@@celeschan90 yeah, that's the way to go!
@@rayart9293 what about the hylian shield if it breaks can u rebuy it somewhere?
@@michiel2316 you can rebuy it from Cece in hateno if you break or lose it!
Does this also work with bows and shields?
Yes it does!
Bro how did you get the windwaker shield?
I believe I got it from the windwaker amiibo!
Is there a way to get a non-decayed royal guard claymore? I thought at first this un-decayed the weapons, but it doesn't look like it. Is there any way to do that?
only way to get undecayed weapons is randomly from shadow figures in the depths. so far ive only found traveller and gold weapons so it might be possible but im not sure
@@Sumbol7224 That, or from Amiibos. But I also assume you probably can't get any of the Royal Guard weapons.
@deadinthehed you can get no decayed royal guard weapons from them too
You said that the max attack up you can get is 10, right? I just checked my inventory and I have a +11 attack spear
That is strange. The datamined files of the game point to the conclusion that this should be impossible.
Do you have an image or a clip of it? What's the weapon called? I'd love to figure out if I missed something! :D
@@rayart9293 Really? I am playing on ryujinx. Do you think this could be a bug? Unfortunately I already broke it but it was a throwing spear that had +11 attack and I got it from one of those dudes standing in the depths. I do remember opening the game just to check this when I saw your video and I've playing it non stop since then. If I ever comeback to finding another I will print it and post here
clever, nice!
Thank you!
Can you restore a weapon more than once?
Yup, as long as you do it with a different Octorok OR the same Octorok that has respawned post-blood moon
spoiler question:
1. does this work on pristine weapons found in the depths
2. how does pristine durability match up against durability up + ?
it does work on pristine weapons and I am pretty sure default pristine has more durability than a durability + decayed weapon
Quick question, what is the weapon at the start of the video that has 87 atk and where can you get the two fuse materials?
in the inventory at 0:17 right to the magic rod
It's the Dusk Claymore fused with a Silver Lynel Horn!
@@rayart9293 thx!, but how do I get them?
@@nathansuh9504 kill a silver lynel for the horn. I haven't found a dusk sword yet.
@@delta5287 thx, if possible could you inform me if you find a dusk sword? Thx again
Is having durability up or shield guard up better?
Durability
Without Story spoilers, is there a location to mount weapons? I want to take pictures of them all.

You can do a questline in Tarrey Town that ends with you being able to build your own house, including weapon mounts!
@@rayart9293 Thanks so much my guy!
Does it still work in v1.2.0?
Yes because it is a mechanic not a glitch. There is an exploit to fuse one of the legendary weapons to something like a stick you can repair both parts with the octorock. Then you can pay someone to split them without breaking the legendary weapon and there you go, a fully repaired legendary weapon. Normally you can't repar legendary weapons without buying a new one after it breaks but here is an alternative. I'm pretty sure this works and probably won't be patched in the future because it doesn't sound like it is worth the hassle of having an octorock read what the fuse material is.
Does this work on 1.2.0?
Yes
Love the motorfires 💀
I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean. Is there some weird background noise in the voice over or is that not what you mean at all?
@@rayart9293 0:13
Dumb question, but does this mean the Hylian Shield can only get a max durability of 810 and a max shield stat of 100? Sucks a little bit because the shield stat could go up to 144 on BOTW…
You can fuse it though cant you, fuse 2 hylian shields together if you like.
Since you get only 10 durability which is less than the fuse bonus I recommend just going for the plus 10 defense. I checked to confirm this and yeah the max defense and durability bonuses are plus 10. You might not have a more durable or powerful hylian shield than botw but you can fuse stuff like a gleeok horn to make your parries freeze burn or shock enemies with no cooldown.
@@StinkyremyDoesn't it double durability or just add the fuse bonus? Also I fused an electric gleeok horn to it. It was how I found out about the gibdo's weakness to electricity.
I see someone else prefers the fierce Deity armor as well
Hell yeah
I have just spent so much time just to find out if i can rebuy hylian shields eacj time they break... I guess i can just repair my one i have infinitely with octoroks
I'm glad this helped! As for rebuying it: you can do so from Cece in Hateno village after finishing the questline there!
@@rayart9293 Stop it, THATS who has it? Never would have guessed. I def finished her questline which I renamed "bitch I'm stylish"🤣
@@Aimee-May HAHAHA LMAOOO
That questline was whack for sure, but yeah she sells rare armor and shields once you finish it
Yo no matter what i do, It wont fix my claymore; I've stuck it to the end of another weapon and nothin'
Seems like a lot honestly. They should’ve just made a blacksmith in certain areas where you can go get weapons fixed for a fee or something.
Yes!
Seems to me this is only worth it for the hylien shield. They should have just increased durability for everything and decreased the amount of chest weapons.
How bout decayed weapons
It works on them, but won't make them into their "clean" versions. They'll still be decayed, just with full durability and modifiers
death mountain no longer has lava? :D
Yeah! You only need heat resistance armor in the caves now!
I can only seem to get +6 Shield Guars on my gold Hylian Shield. Is +10 super rare or am I being limited by something else?
Edit: Finally got +8. Will keep trying until I get +10.
Edit #2: I heard there is a place in Hyrule to buy rare weapons that you may have owned at one point but broken them. Does this Octorok trick work with these shop items? I only ask because the shop items in BotW could not get modifiers (only one shot at a perfect 144 Hylian Shield).
This works with all of them, as long as they're not Amiibo weapons. If they are& you wont be able to add modifiers to them; but you still can repair them
For edit #2:
All of those shop items are hard coded not to have any modifiers, so they can never have attack up etc.
However, you can still repair them using this trick!
@@rayart9293 i just tried to repair my fierce deity sword and it just spat it right back out. do you know the reason?
it’s a fresh octorok too it was my first time approaching it
@@sushii3785 He mentions in the video that you need to fuse amiibo weapons first or else they won't work.
so what you are saying is because of fuse modifiers are absolutely useless
Hmmm, that's not exactly what I was trying to say!
Modifiers are still very powerful, especially 5 shot bow and quickshot. Shield Guard Up, Attack Up and Durability Up were HEAVILY nerfed from BotW's versions of them, but they're still *good*, it's just that we now have a secondary mechanic to increase our weapon damage besides just modifiers, so they nerfed them to make it fair.
A side effect of this nerf is that Attack Up and Durability Up yield basically the same outcome if you compare the total DPS the weapon can output.
The same goes for shields: Durability Up and Shield Guard Up at the same values yield almost exactly the same results in terms of item longevity(the Hylian Shield is an outlier due to it's ridiculous base durability, Shield Guard Up is very much it's best buff now).
TL;DR
Modifiers are no longer the sole powerup mechanic, and thus they've been nerfed to a fair value. However, the numbers side of this nerf makes the modifiers pretty much interchangeable in terms of DPS/item longevity.
@@rayart9293 hmm i see well i still think that 10 is far too low
Just use the dupe glitch and have prestine spare copies on hand at all time. No need chasing down enemies to restore anything.
Or, you could just pick up one of the 8 billion other weapons on the ground and slap something else on to it to make a new awesome weapon
I'd say this is most useful for rare or vanity items that you want to keep. For example, I always have Dusk Bows on me just because they go well with my outfit, but they're really hard to get a hold of.
But yeah, the game's fully playable without using this mechanic!
@@rayart9293 the game aint that hard. You dont need to hoard the good items
Last few Zelda games blow but especially the last 2. Since the last 2 are item completion is the focus why not add crafting, then you can make "rebuild kit" and apply them to the weapons.
Way to spoil that outfit. Sheesh.
