Thanks a lot for all your TotK guides, and especially this one. You spared me from sinking who knows how much time into researching horse upgrades. The only thing I think I could add to the guide is, if anyone reading is thinking about getting a 20-star horse, I strongly recommend upgrading the good old 5/3/5 "Strength Horse" from BotW. IINM it always becomes a 5/3/5/2 horse when importing your BotW save data into TotK, and given that it already has two maxed-out stats (Strength and Stamina), you don't need to cook those 18 servings of difficult meals in order to fully upgrade those two stats like it's the case with most other horses, such as the Golden Horse who starts as a 4/4/3/2 horse.

I just caught a wild horse with 4 stars stats in Strength and Stamina, and 3 stars in Speed and Pull. Spent a good half an hour following your video to max him out and holy smokes. Thank you so much for the recipes! I had figured a few by pure luck, throwing stuff in the pan to see what would happen 😂 But you're a life saver 🙏
I already did this a few days ago, except for the pull stat. I maxed out the pull stat of a different horse... a horse that I've chosen to be my pulling horse. This way, I don't have to attach the towing harness to my main horse whose other three stats I did max out. My gentle-tempered main horse (which resembles Link's horse from his memories from before the Calamity) is named after Twilight Princess Link's childhood friend Ilia. My wild-tempered pulling horse is the descendant of Zelda's white stallion which I named Lumen. Almost all of Ilia's stats were just two stars. Boy, searching (online and in the game) for all the ingredients for all the recipes I needed sure took a while. But hey, it was worth it. It certainly paid off.

I watch almost all of your videos and find your content to be amazing. I have to say that this video imparticular is extremely well put together and helpful. You couldn't have designed this better. Thanks AustinJohn!
Thanks for the video! I'm glad they gave the Horse God more functionality. I'm sure most people rarely if ever needed to revive a horse, though I'm sure most were glad the option was there. Letting you upgrade your horses is a big plus. In BotW, I kind of felt bad using my horses with lower stats, feeling like I was being inefficient, but now you and upgrade almost any horse to be the best. Almost. I feel a bit bad for the Giant Horses, both the Giant Horse (Ganon's horse from BotW) and the Giant White Stallion. They seem to be redskins of each other. They both are missing half of the stats and the ability to gallop. Their 5 strength is no longer unique to them as other horses can be upgraded to that level. I'm pretty sure they are a bit faster than their stats imply, maybe by virtue of having a longer stride, but it would be cool if you could dash with a monster sized horse. Thinking about it, I feel a bit worse about the other non-upgradable horses. The Giant horses still have things that make them stand out (like their size and stride) but horses like the royal white stallion might just be completely outclassed by upgraded horses.
Such a useful mechanic for what’s been rendered the most useless form of transportation especially without being able to teleport your horse to you also great vid
This makes me so happy to know I can keep my OG horse, the first one I caught in TOTK, can become the perfect horse for my entire journey 🥹 I always hated the grind to find the fastest horse with the exact patterns I want in BOTW... so glad they made this feature! Thanks Austin!
Thanks to Malanya i can finally enjoy my pink horses. Caught colid color one, upgraded all stats, then got Spot quest and guess what? i found pink spotted horse with pink mane and now I HAVE TO upgrade her
@notaliveperson apparently you can find them anywhere, but I've had a lot of luck outside lurelin. They're so pale pink that they might look almost like a light tan in certain lights, so look carefully.
I've been concerning myself with getting a good horse for my Tears of the Kingdom adventure and this video along with the unique horses has helped me out. Thanks. Upon further research I found out knowledge from BotW regarding 'Leader' and 'follower' horses. It seems the scope of this video was for only manually increasing stats at Malanya, but I think it could've been accented with this past knowledge 'leader' and 'follower' horses, herd types, temperament, and between them, their chance of getting better stats before manually increasing them. Just something I found out I didn't previously know about or made a correlation to.
In BOTW I found that the Northwest section of Central Hyrule is near impossible to get through on horseback with all the guardians that are there and they keep up insanely well so that trying to dodge laser beams becomes a death trap for your horse. I tried to zigzag to avoid the blasts and one got my horse. It was truly horrifying to hear an animal make that sound.
Yes! Exactly when i needed the video😂. I was just about to start doing the thing with malanya. Greetings from Greece Austin I've been watching since the sun and moon days keep it up
First what a handy video thank you second I love how thorough everything is a lot of times people don't go into enough detail and then I spend five minutes looking for an endura carrot 😂 neway dear gawddddd do I miss the ancient set for the horse ... But i get that w 3 new levels it just be too OP
Im so glad they made this a feature in the game, in botw i would just beat the game because i always find a horse which has all 4-5 stars in speed and strength with 3-4 starts within stamina. It was honestly annoying only being able to find that horse until im already done with the game. I was excited when i actually saw that the horse saved over to totk since i honestly didn't want yo find another horse like that all over again, but i was ecstatic when I found out about that feature with melanya it will save me a lot of time looking for specific horses (ones that are fast and have high stamina) it will also save me time from having to switch horses whenever i want to pull a cart or something
Thanks for your videos! Did you know that you can feed your horse from hand? Just hold it and stand before the horse, so it can reach the food you're holding!

Leaving a comment to say thank you for creating a TL;DR within your video. You could put that briefly at the front of every video with a reminder to let the video play in the background for the algorithm.
Now I get it. The horse has been famished since god knows when only for the players to nourish him again. As much as hunger bothers anyone, feeding him would sound like great guest service.

This makes me so happy in breath of the wild i have a pinto I named her Rain and she is absolutely very special to me i kept her despite her terrible stats i remember trying to find a pinto with good stats for hours Little did I know that it wasn't possible to get that... So I kept rain just because I loved her and now and tears the kingdom I can make her strong! She deserves it :) sadly my copy of botw was on the wii U and i can't transfer her over.... I'm currently working on btow on the switch now and I'll keep my eye out for a horse that looks just like Rain and she will be my first horse and I'll transfer her over to tears of the kingdom and give her the boost she deserves :') this literally made me so happy 😁

Another great spot to find 4/5 star horses is the Bubinga forest by the dueling peaks stable.
This makes me so happy to know I can keep my OG horse, the first one I caught in TOTK, can become the perfect horse for my entire journey 🥹
I always hated the grind to find the fastest horse with the exact patterns I want in BOTW... so glad they made this feature!
Thanks Austin!
You don't understand how helpful this video is, Thanks so much 👍
Thanks to Malanya i can finally enjoy my pink horses. Caught colid color one, upgraded all stats, then got Spot quest and guess what? i found pink spotted horse with pink mane and now I HAVE TO upgrade her
Done! So much goat butter, tabantha wheat, and that retched fresh milk, but the og zelda horse from Botw is done
Thank you for the video!!
2:49 And hence, Link started to clear out the Korok population from the loss of Epona by a Korok.
Another upload that is related to a random thing I talked about earlier. This man has a gift
Great video! The time stamps were very useful! I fully upgraded the pink horse that I found. Thanks!
Pink horse? You can get pink? Where?
@notaliveperson apparently you can find them anywhere, but I've had a lot of luck outside lurelin. They're so pale pink that they might look almost like a light tan in certain lights, so look carefully.
@@elii1i Thanks! Ive been struggling to find a pink horsey, I really just wanted to put flowers in her hair lol
Does anyone know a good place to farm bee honey
Yes! Exactly when i needed the video😂. I was just about to start doing the thing with malanya. Greetings from Greece Austin I've been watching since the sun and moon days keep it up
Your horsie videos are my FAVORITE!! 🥰🥰🥰
I did this with a pink spotted horse, it was alot of work but it was worth it to have my perfect steed
First what a handy video thank you second I love how thorough everything is a lot of times people don't go into enough detail and then I spend five minutes looking for an endura carrot 😂 neway dear gawddddd do I miss the ancient set for the horse
I honestly loved hoses in BOTW and I rode them everywhere, glad there even more useful in TOTK.
Thanks for your videos! Did you know that you can feed your horse from hand? Just hold it and stand before the horse, so it can reach the food you're holding!
The only RUclipsr worth turning my notifications on for. Thank you for another great walkthrough! Your early game guidance for TotK have been a lifesaver!
I love this so much. I have Epona and Zeldas horse from BOTW but I only use the first horse I ever got. This was fine in Botw with the ancient horse armour but In Totk it was annoying to use 😅
“And now we’re done breaking the fourth wall, back to the fun-“ *Dunkin’ Donuts ad plays*
That was a lot of work…thanks for the video!! 😎
Correcting on the copius fried wild greens. Any herb flower or vegetable will work so everything up to the sundelions work
This adorable guy says the most adorable things about horses. ❤
this is SUPER helpful, tysm! i watched the whole video but i really appreciate the timestamps cause my memory sucks and i'm DEF gonna have to go back over those recipes again lol
Just had to add a comment for you literally telling ppl just go look up the recipe... Thank you .. liked and subscribed and watching the whole video.
love your vids Austin! you helped my journey through botw (i was late to the party lol) and now ive not missed a single vid of yours on totk! thank you so much for caring so deeply about our gameplay and all your zelda content!!! it is very much appreciated! 🤗🤗🤗
One tip: Once you make a recipe, you can select a single ingredient, then choose "select for recipe" and then choose the recipe you just made. It will auto-fill all the ingredients you just used so you can cook the duplicate recipes faster.
Time stamps were super helpful, so much less of a pain compared to all the googling I’d have had to do. Thanks man
i love the new withered master sword on your background!!
Rizz uh oh. 😂 Also my horse died on that same bridge in that EXACT SAME PLACE. I reloaded my save, I couldn’t bear it. Thanks for this awesome video, I’m making Thanatos a total badass, as he should be.
it’s so sad the ancient bridle is not in totk. it was amazing that they can teleport to you instantly.
I would suggest a tutorial on getting the garden in Hateno in order to acquire excess veggies while you play easily.
Absolutely LOVE this flood of Zelda content!
Thank you so much for the extra mile with the lists
I used this to upgrade my horse from my BoTW pauseless run. After going through so much to get the highest stat horse I could get in that game and then taking on the world with him in a run devoid of fast travel, he deserves the world
*Looks at Malanya stuffing their face*
Monocycle to Hoverbike: "Look how much they need to mimic a fraction of our power!"
It might actually be best to upgrade a not-so-great horse, that way you can get a top tier horse with the gentle temperment
Don't you talk about S'mores like that!
I got this and their name is lovable. Good luck to anyone who wants to do this
A horse can eat an apple or carrot or whatever straight from your hands 🙌🏼 when you walk up to its mouth !
You've saved me countless hours of grinding, and especially your duplication glitch I just learned a couple days ago, which was heaven-sent, just like my favorite horse's name., Heaven. (This coming from a guy who loves easy and cheap access to ancient arrows to rid me of the annoying Yiga blade master or whatever else attacks me while I'm in a hurry, already battling or preoccupied with more important things. THANK YOU!!!
i asked for this guide bc like how tf am i supposed to know how to cook all of these recepies. thank you austin
As someone that spent a hot minute a couple days ago upgrading a hourse to 5 star in everything I'm glad there's a guide for ppl now (the article guides are just plain lying half the time and it bothers me)
To Austin, can you please make a vid about getting different saddles bridles and customizing horse mane like in botw
Ty and love the vids
THANK YOU for posting this! I was struggling with figuring out the different recipes, so this was an awesome find! Thank you!
Thank you SO MUCH for the info in the description as well!
AJ: With that done, let’s get back to the fun part of the video.
**goes to advertisement about Wal Mart followed by Snuggles**
This actually happened to me as i watched this very video.
a tip that wasn't mentioned is that there's a cooking pot at the entrance if malanyas spring under a roof
