Not necessarily, although this is the most polished smash game of all, with the most characters in one game, I feel like you can still go up more. Some characters are kinda forgotten in ssbu, olimar, rosalina, corrin, Isabelle etc... and some just robbed spots from other, better characters, *cough* Byleth *cough* *cough* pyra/mythra *cough*. Also make echoes the same character just different skins. Roy and chrom could both stay because they’re pretty different even if they do look a bit the same
Sora was on of my most wanted characters, I'm glad he's in but he's also definitely gone next game. In fact most of my favorites are likely out expect Bowser...

Every single Pokémon character has their own unique moveset (besides Pichu and Pikachu) and playstyle, Marth, Lucina, Roy and Chrom have almost identical movesets and playstyles. 0 fun to play against

Two FE characters are Echoes, so they’re basically free bonuses with the original character (Sakurai said this about Clones/Echo Fighters, btw) and the rest are very unique. Like, what other character in Smash can turn their body into dragon parts? But the main thing is, Fire Emblem can only really have represent itself through it’s characters, rather than other aspects in Smash. The series has one item, and only 4 stages, two of which are just original places with the Fire Emblem series slapped on. Meanwhile, the series has lots of Spirits, Assist Trophies, and of course, characters. A series like Metroid can only really be represented through the opposite ways than Fire Emblem. It has many varied locations and items, but not to many characters. Meanwhile, Pokemon has the best of both worlds. It has hundreds of characters in it’s series, just like Fire Emblem, but also can be represented well through it’s items and stages. All in all, I think it’s cool to let a smaller series like Fire Emblem have lots of characters. Why is it bad to let a more niche franchise have some time in the spotlight?
While i wouldn't expect the next Smash Bros to lose half of the roster I think it's reasonable to assume it will start out with the same amount of characters as base Ultimate did.
Fire Emblem characters wouldn't get such a bad rap if over half of them didn't play the same and half of them weren't avatar characters that don't have personality. There's 3 types of magic, 3 different main weapon types and all they do is go with the main character that uses a sword. Where's the axes? The lances? You could even include some villains like Lyon who uses dark magic (and is a literal demon) or include other races from FE that shapeshift into animals. Throw some spellcasters into the mix, get creative! Just...enough with 4 versions of Marth, a character that was only there to sell Fates and the most boring (and least interesting) character from 3 Houses. Robin's ok. He's different enough and has some interesting things about him. He needs a rework but he's ok as is.
Mars (Yes he is Mars), Roy, Robin, and (insert newest FE protag here) are the Fire Emblem characters that should be in each game. That's only four. Why can't we just have four. I'm a Fire Emblem fan, jsyk.

But that costs more, getting him is like how other games get amazing crossovers, they don't come back for the next game. They stay for that one. Not necessarily, although this is the most polished smash game of all, with the most characters in one game, I feel like you can still go up more. Some characters are kinda forgotten in ssbu, olimar, rosalina, corrin, Isabelle etc... and some just robbed spots from other, better characters, *cough* Byleth *cough* *cough* pyra/mythra *cough*. Also make echoes the same character just different skins. Roy and chrom could both stay because they’re pretty different even if they do look a bit the same
Sora was on of my most wanted characters, I'm glad he's in but he's also definitely gone next game. In fact most of my favorites are likely out expect Bowser...

I was happy when they revealed Byleth, and I'm pretty confident they'll return to smash 6. I think they have a bigger chance than any other FE character other than Marth, and maybe Robin.

In: Marth (got most games and first game), Robin (represent Awakening that saves the franchise and magic) and Byleth (represents 3H and 3 other different weapons)
Maybe: Ike (one of the most popular FE characters)
No: Roy, Chrom, Lucina (echoes/played too similiar) and Corrin (even among FE fandom Corrin is still rather hated lol)

As someone who thinks Fire Emblem deserves to have all eight of it's characters, I can say that I am more than used to seeing FE hate, especially since Corrin is my favourite (yes, he was a character I wanted back in the Smash 4 days)

Two FE characters are Echoes, so they’re basically free bonuses with the original character (Sakurai said this about Clones/Echo Fighters, btw) and the rest are very unique. Like, what other character in Smash can turn their body into dragon parts?
But the main thing is, Fire Emblem can only really have represent itself through it’s characters, rather than other aspects in Smash. The series has one item, and only 4 stages, two of which are just original places with the Fire Emblem series slapped on. Meanwhile, the series has lots of Spirits, Assist Trophies, and of course, characters.
A series like Metroid can only really be represented through the opposite ways than Fire Emblem. It has many varied locations and items, but not to many characters. Meanwhile, Pokemon has the best of both worlds. It has hundreds of characters in it’s series, just like Fire Emblem, but also can be represented well through it’s items and stages.
All in all, I think it’s cool to let a smaller series like Fire Emblem have lots of characters. Why is it bad to let a more niche franchise have some time in the spotlight?

Fire Emblem characters wouldn't get such a bad rap if over half of them didn't play the same and half of them weren't avatar characters that don't have personality.
There's 3 types of magic, 3 different main weapon types and all they do is go with the main character that uses a sword.
Where's the axes? The lances? You could even include some villains like Lyon who uses dark magic (and is a literal demon) or include other races from FE that shapeshift into animals. Throw some spellcasters into the mix, get creative! Just...enough with 4 versions of Marth, a character that was only there to sell Fates and the most boring (and least interesting) character from 3 Houses.
Robin's ok. He's different enough and has some interesting things about him. He needs a rework but he's ok as is.

That's not how it works, unless they specifically went for a license to use him for a long while. But that costs more, getting him is like how other games get amazing crossovers, they don't come back for the next game. They stay for that one. Cloud wasn't even meant to, he had to be negotiated again.
