Thanks so much ...😢❤
2000 was a magical time for the Pumpkins' demise, as they they put on some of the most pounding rock shows in all history. Unfortunate. Porcelina, wow, what a performance! The acoustic opener was enthralling. Machina, released that year, can arguably be considered the Pumpkin's opus. Such a timelessly powerful album.
Tim Young i loved that record! and in a psychotic speed fuelled state fukin gave it away 2 make a woman love me!...DID'NT FUKIN WORK!...SHE STILL HATES ME 2 THIS FUKIN DAY! HUM HUM!
+Tim Young They went out in a massive blaze of glory
I found machina in a second hand entertainment store. It was one of the greatest CD finds I've been graced with. It was a God-send. It's one of my most treasured possessions. So uniquely strange and beautiful.
@@jjwilliamsoconnor1329 i'm sure she loves the album though
I’ll cheers to that
I watch this show every day.
Still?
Ry Line yes
Dang six years later and this comment is timeless
Amen to that. I watch at least one Pumpkins live video weekly since i became a fan, no joke.
One of my faves is the Adore Tour concert on Guggenheim museum.
amen to that
Melissa is gorgeous.
The Machina era is so beautifully mysterious and ominous to me, as is the album/project itself. Can't wait for the reissue!
Haha two years later. Still waiting. Went to a concert 6 months or so ago and screamed “release machina” lol
@@oompaloompadoompa-de-doo3614 lol that's actually funny. 😂
Don't hold your breath. He doesn't even mention the Machina reissue anymore.
@@oompaloompadoompa-de-doo3614 thank you. This needs to be the trend
Mr. Mike Garsson is such a great feature both in Adore and Machina tours. He was the Rick Wright for the Pumpkins on those years.
He will always be Aladdin Sane
This concert is one of my favorite finds on RUclips. It's absolutely beautiful. Not for a casual Pumpkins fan, but it is strange and beautiful. Some of the most unique, beautiful music I've ever heard. Who thought... a flanger on an acoustic... sounds so wild.
i was in ;)
@ i know, i was in ;) i remenber "If there a god" and more env 2h30
Machina came out when I was in high school. I remember a girl in my class named Maria telling me she thought it was underrated. That's one of the most accurate statements anyone has ever made to me.
From a musician’s standpoint, machina 1 and 2 had some of the most complex things going of any pop album of all time. I think it just went over the heads of a lot of people at the time. I keep waiting for people to go back and rediscover it for the masterpiece that it is but I think it’s just so buried in time.
It's a masterpiece. You should have married Maria
Their sets from this tour make my face feel all melty.
This is the most fantastic artistic live display of the pumpkins in my opinion. I'm a minority in that, but it's so unique and artistic sounding.
I was there : fantastic show, so intense
I was there, that night in the vast ocean, very first row, right in front of James. Gosh, it took me weeks to get back down ! ''... Now let's start the show...''
Melissa is the perfect bassist for the smashing pumpkins
Not as perfect as Darcy tho
@@okirrama3587 Thanks, okir.
グールにも愛が必要 - have you ever heard of _Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness_ ???
Amazing examples of melissa's bass playing, Ric Ocasek Troublizing album, Hole's "gold dust woman" and Celebrity skin album. Best bass sound from Melissa.
グールにも愛が必要 - I’m not surprised, but I have a feeling there’s a good chance he did that on more than one or two albums? and I don’t believe Auf der Maur actually performed on any of the albums, did she? I thought it was still D’Arcy/Billy on _Machina I,_ and I assume just Billy on _Machina II..._ but maybe I’m wrong. my point is that the Pumpkins were plenty “heavy” before Auf der Maur, when they needed to be.
I love the alternate version of Today played during this time. So beautiful. Love the chorus effect on James' acoustic.
That acoustic version of Today is one of the best, if not the best, I've seen live from them. How could anyone dislike this?! Such an amazing concert!
I have listened to pretty much all Glass and The Ghost Children versions, live and album included, this is definitely the best one, not to mention that the soundmix is awesome.
The Everlasting Gaze...daaammn
Smashing Pumpkins has had a lot of different bassists, but this is the best I can recall it sounding at any live show I've seen on the internet
This video was the first time i got to now the Pumpkins. Geeez! Guess that explains why ive always been a sucker for Porcelina.
I MEAN SHOW ME A BETTER INTRO ON THIS PLANET? YOU CANT!!!!!
If you went back in time to 91 and showed a pumpkins fan the last few minutes of everlasting gaze here they’d say “well fuck they’re gonna be the best heavy metal band on earth by then?” lol
The jazz piano over that is beautiful! Ohfk
Mike Garson is a GOD!
39:50 Am I the only who loves their cover of "Once in a Lifetime"? And the version of "Try Try Try" at 1:07:07 is my favorite they've ever done!
I love it too. It starts at 39:07 though. I love Glimpses, Sound of Silence, Rock On, Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun, Transmissions, and other covers. They're always great.
This version of Tonight, Tonight is probably the most beautiful one I’ve found on RUclips
Best lineup. Amazing
Well, I was there, I was young and it was one of the most transformative experience in my entire life (sometimes music can do that...). It's after that show I decided to learn to play the guitar waaayyyy more seriously...
That Fernandes decade on porcelina really wails! I wish it came short scale and with a trem
The ending makes me cry. What a beautiful show.
I was in Toulouse, the show just fefore this one, best show of my life. This band was the best heavy groovy machine.
I was at that very show in Paris. Had the feeling of being still physically hit by endless waves of sound. That show was..
well I guess the very best rnr show I have attended...and some other songs are missing : I do specifically recall two epic versions of Cash Car Star and Speed Kills, among others
@@olivierdobbels9483 Second half of the show was played at 180bpm tempo with stroboscopic lights^^
Jimmy Chamberlin still the one and only beating soul behind Pumpkins
Merci !! que de souvenirs , j ai l impression que s etait hier, Amazing show ...Paris is always a good idea
Pure dead brilliant! An excellent show!
best version of "ghost" ever, and amazing opening to a show ever!!
It really was so special.... This show was Loud! I saw almost the same show at the Metro in Dec 99. It Was Loud!!!! so special, and lucky
so sick! machina tour ruled the world!
Damn, this is so rare, thanks for this upload! It's lmost like their 3 hour concert of 2018 but back in the real pumpkin days!
the way the band rearranged porcelina is genius
Oh man, I was there 23 years ago. The crowd was absolutely crazy.
i wish i was there...this conzert....soooooo fucking brilliant
That version of Today is AWESOME
Mother of God Jimmy with guitar.
The version of Thirty-Three here is magical. By far my favourite.
love the band with mike garson on piano!
i was at the wembley show in november of 2000 when they played most of this set...just awesome.
Espectacular concierto. 🤘
Great performance
October 19 2000. Turned 15 that day. Wish i was there in Paris
It is fantastic, like being in a dream.
Today and 1979 are the best in this performance.
Perfect intro
why was 3 months old me shitting in bed when it could've been at smashing pumpkins concert fuck
Really? I thought this was one of the best show, I love it, especially the talking in the middle of Glass And The Ghost Children.
22:05 Thirty-Three
They'd be nuts not to try to include this concert as the DVD for the Machina reissue
Never heard this version of Today before
Heavy Insane Machine!!
Often wondered if Billy introducing Try Try Try as Pourquoi was him in same level felling this band's life had run its course?
Drown ❤️
What a fuckin awesome drums on tonight, tonight!!!
56:08 such emotion, I was there
1979.....Best year of my life, I was 17 and wild, cruising, partying, lots of sex, drugs and rock n roll, just like the video
ALL HAIL THE MIGHTY SP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
he does
billy sure knows how to keep the hottest of bass players around. wut a player. gotta love him tho :}
I saw the band in Glasgow's SECC on this tour and witnessed more or less the same set. I had never seen them before and was excited to hear the iconic songs that played a big part in soundtracking my teenage years from SD and MCAIS, which were the only albums I was really familiar with. I liked Adore, although not to the same extent and I didn't know much from then-recently released Machina. I was (and still am) a casual fan of the Pumpkins, but the prospect of seeing them live was something I was certainly looking forward to. However, I left the show feeling extremely disappointed with what I perceived to be a very bloated, self-indulgent performance.
At first I wasn't sure if I had unintentionally purchased a ticket for an full acoustic performance given how many songs they played in that style at the start, which didn't resonate well with my then heavy rock-focused young mind and I found boredom was setting in early. When they finally reached the heavier stuff, I was frustrated with the live reworkings of the likes of 'Bullet', along with the absence of hits like 'Jellybelly', 'Zero', 'Where Boys Fear To Tread', etc, which I felt deserved to be included in what was advertised as a farewell tour. By the end of the show I was done and just wanted to go home, and the negativity of the experience in general resulted in me avoiding their music for years afterwards.
Looking back now with a fuller and more mature understanding of music in general, I can appreciate what the band was doing here. I still believe the set completely fails in terms of fan service and didn't cater for what you would expect to witness in a 'last tour' scenario, but then again perhaps I just completely underestimated Billy Corgan and his own intentions. That said, I can now admire the sheer grandiose spectacle on display here and the maximal musical exploration approach. It wasn't what I wanted, but needless to say Billy probably couldn't have given less of a shit about that.
Watching their current sets on YT is way more in line with what I would have preferred to have seen back then and it's cool 3/4 of the original band are out there currently enjoying a renaissance of sorts. They're back in Glasgow next year and I 'm contemplating buying a ticket and see if I feel differently this time round...
no cellphone good old time
Dónde se puede conseguir este recital en mejor calidad? Gracias
Jimmy was playing so fuckin fast the whole show it’s almost like they couldn’t keep up
porcelina
Anyone know if this show was sold out?
I don’t get why he would go unplugged on the second song already. Today and SIYL would have EXPLODED in their normal versions.
i wander why there no Ave Adore?
Corgan is a Lennon level talent.
Very true but don't tell him that
@@yrmthr lol
38:05 wow
Goddamit, this is missing like the 3 songs I wanted to see: Speed Kills, Cash Car Star, and Blank Page
I like those tracks also esp cash car star. Still a pretty good set list tho, thought stand inside your love and today Def better as electric versions but still not bad😊
Who is the extra vocals guy? Never seen before
Set list fudido!
Okay but my favorite era is Machina.
Also prefer Melissa over D'arcy. Sorry :)
Who was doing the talkbox for Heavy Metal Machine?
Wondering the same who dude is/was
One word... Chicane
Tá ruim ,. tá muito água com açúcar , Cadê as. porradas ?
Always love the Pumpkins, seems like a bummer to do both Today and Stand inside your Love back to back slow acoustic versions. Especially if this was on the fairwell tour. Leave it to Billy, this crowd just looks like they're dying to rock out and he's just up there crapping on the French😅 emo prick
why did he kill to "Stand Inside Your Love" ? the orginal is thousand times better
I thought the same with that and today but not terrible, think the idea was to start the tempo slow and then rock the fkin house😅
CAAAAAAAAGE
No timestamps, I move on. C'mon, uploader
It would be better if Billy Corgan used an Electric guitar in this concert.
He did later. Watch the rest.
love the song but dislike the piano
Jesus Christ this is boring. I mean, I LOVE the pumpkins, but this is BORING AS HELL!
kyral210 whaaaaat???? Lmao
I don't know what your meaning of boring is but surely you are not right
Keep watching they start knocking socks off at talking heads 😅
Or I mean glass theme😊
Bullet into Talking Heads is the heaviest thing ever
I dont like this cover😂
