Sliced Cheese this is two weeks late, but yes. most pet stores like pet smart do get their pets from puppy mills. try to adopt from a shelter, but if you're trying to get a particular breed or a puppy,go to a reputable breeder. never ever buy from pet stores.

there is a special place in Hell for people that are this cruelty to animal, but I don't think the wants them there. Animals are like human being to us if we want respect, then we have to respect them. I know a pomeranian breeder who does it right. With only 7 females and 1 male, they always have fresh water and food, and a yard to run and play in. They get love and attention every day, and they stop breeding a female after 3 - 4 litters. Once they're done breeding, they're retired. They get to laze around and enjoy life. They also won't sell you a puppy until investigating your home, past with animals, and if you have the income to care for one. That's how breeding should be done.

I got my Golden Retriever from Montego Goldens, just like what you said about the pomeranian breeder. Visited the place where they bred dogs and is nice, water clean, have food, healthy coats, and clean environment . They don't force breed them. I was young at the time so I didn't really know about adopting. Responsible breeders are good but better to adopt. NEVER PET SHOP

I not trying to get a saint bernard and feed it, but $1000+ plus $400 shipping (no breeders near me) for a chihuahua puppy from a akc ckc certified breeder is a bit insane. I had chihuahua my grandmother gave to me he pass away recently 13 years 2 months I did all I could for him. I miss him greatly only friend i've ever had. So to hell with me condemn me too living alone.

It looks a lot better than some puppy mills I have seen on youtube... But it still doesn't justify never letting a dog play. There's a difference between breeding and profiting. And i hope the video HSUS upload will spread around the world because this is damn cruel. Using them for some stupid bet, like dog fight, and now this puppy mill thing, i get so mad and frustrated! I know this video is like 6 years old- found it by accident looking for an article about it to show a friend. My little dog is in this front and center. The three adult yorkies in the outdoor muddy chainlink area, the light colored one is my little guy that I adopted 6 years ago. He’s in MUCH bettee shape now and is living out his golden old man years with me in the pacific northwest. 🥺💙

the laws definitely need to be stricter. This person clearly didn't learn their lesson. Maybe if they got 20 years in prison they'd think twice. Why isn't there a database or something that doesn't allow people who have ever had an animal offence to get more animals? You mess up once, that should be it.

I lived in NC for a while and fostered pets from the pound. I got my beautiful Doberman from there - she had been a stray for 3 years after her owners abandoned her after 6 months. They had a "drop box" outside the pound where people could just drop their pets into it. I reported them when I found 3 neglected dogs and 4 cats that had been eaten by the starving dogs. I found that the boxes were not only allowed by NC law, but people were encouraged to use them. I was sick to my stomach.

It breaks my heart as animals would do everything to make us happy, even endure the horrible lives they had. The only positive thing might be that they adapt and forget it soon. I had 14 rescued dogs so far and only two never got over it. They only behaved natural on the own property, even after many years. I wished I could work for / with you as I'm on my own. Lived in many countries since early childhood. Also preferred to travel and stay single as an adult..

Spay and neuter or lose your pet. Breeding should only be done by responsible breeders under tight scrutiny. They should not be able to sell a pet to an individual until they have proven it is incapable of being bred. This would save many millions of animals from being mistreated and keep us from having to kill millions of unwanted pets every year.
When something like this is so sad, disgusting and horrifying that you can't even cry. Just hope the animals live healthier lives after this and wonder what could have happened to the person in charge that lead them to do this.
The reason why bills aren't being passed is because if people start viewing animals like dogs and cats as more than money making objects, but as animals that have rights, people will begin to question if all animals have these rights. Even in this time era, the government and its people will not always accept logical change. People will begin to ask themselves if exploiting animals for entertainment is right, or using animals for science experimentation, clothing, and sadly, slaughtering animals for food. People of higher power don't want people to connect with animals and view them worthy or rights because this would lead to hypocrisy due to the fact that the same people fighting for the safety of dogs and cats are also eating and wearing animals. Change is very powerful. More powerful than many humans want to see happen. We need more people to speak up for animals. They bloody well deserve it.

On one of these Humane rescues somewhere down South, an elected official rode along to see for himself what the conditions were. And as the HSUS personnel were fanning out, making assessments, unchaining dogs, getting evidence videos, having the animals rounded up for transport and removal - I'll never forget what he said: "For God's sake, don't LET this person go to another county, anther state, and set up shop again!! We must stop them. Put them in jail, pull their license... make an end to this horror!" Now, rescue, vetting, fostering and homing these great animals should be the main goal. But also, let's get laws that are stronger, so people who abuse, hoard, and mistreat animals in cases like this get the book thrown at them. AND... THEY ARE NEVER ALLOWED, BY LAW TO DO THIS AGAIN, ANYPLACE ELSE! Thanks HSUS.

On one of these Humane rescues somewhere down South, an elected official rode along to see for himself what the conditions were. And as the HSUS personnel were fanning out, making assessments, unchaining dogs, getting evidence videos, having the animals rounded up for transport and removal - I'll never forget what he said: "For God's sake, don't LET this person go to another county, anther state, and set up shop again!! We must stop them. Put them in jail, pull their license... make an end to this horror!" Now, rescue, vetting, fostering and homing these great animals should be the main goal. But also, let's get laws that are stronger, so people who abuse, hoard, and mistreat animals in cases like this get the book thrown at them. AND... THEY ARE NEVER ALLOWED, BY LAW TO DO THIS AGAIN, ANYPLACE ELSE! Thanks HSUS.
