    I've heard from an owner of these that they're quite flexy. Hopefully that was a one-off as I'm quite interested in these.

      It's not for the sprinters no. Only so much you can do with 240g of mass ;)

      There is an "enhanced" version that is 15g heavier and supposedly more stiff.

      Mine just arrived, "enhanced" version is also super flexy, even just standing over the bike and leaning left to right in the drops they feel straight up flimsy.

    Hey, do you have experience or an idea about using this bar for a mechanical rim brake bike? Trek Emonda SLR from 2019.

    the holes under the tops of handlebar means it can be used with rimbrakes right?

      I am using Vision Metron 5D that have same openings under tops for rim brake ss evo with zero issues!

    From your experience, how many mm below the mark do you cut the steerer tube with this kind of handlebar/stem construction? Also, are you still happy with the Canary (suggesting you have put some km in)?

    • @slayerofgrams
      @slayerofgrams  6 месяцев назад +2

      I haven't cut below the top of the steerer clamp yet since I'm looking to sell the bike it's currently on and would like to have some adjustability left for a future owner. This means I can't use the include head cap, and instead use a regular round head cap above normal round spacers.
      However, if I would of a "Final" steerer cut, I'd make sure the headset preload was properly set with a normal head cap, tighten the stem bolts, then remove the cap and spacer above the stem and mark the steerer on level with the top of the bar/stem... then make the Final Cut about 1-2mm below.
      Very happy with the bar(being a light weight climber)

    These looked good until they showed the bottom of the handle bar. The inlet for the hose really worries me. You can see some fairly tight fillets on the relief right before the handle bar bend. As an engineer I would be very worried that these will have a fatigue based failure in this area. Filets and tight features, like this one, are typically areas of high stress concentration, and this would be the perfect location for a crack to grow and propagate. Also the manufacture is vague on what fatigue test was passed ("200 thousand times fatigue test"), what were the levels, what is the safety factor, and were any testing standards followed. I rather spend the extra $400 on the specialized components than on dental implants. Good luck guys.

      I was pretty shocked to see on Instagram Tobias using this cheapo barstem on 10k usd build (maybe frame alone costs around that, Equilibrium prices for custom stuff are tough).
      Darimo Nexum (not aero) would be proper for this build, but its not fully integrated.
      I would suggest new Vision Metron 5D EVO L, only 320g, fully integrated, from a respected brand with podium wins!

      Alpitude Components make the lightest in the world. If you have a Garmin 1040 the weight limit is a little close tho
