I eat up list videos like this, Thanks for giving it a try! You did really well! I like having the segments on the playback bar so I can skip a game I know everything about already. If you could do that in the future I think that would be a cool feature. If not, no worries. Love your work, thank you.
Probably not something most would agree with, but I would put ARK and Conan in this list too. While not solely base building games, per se, they are survival building games with lots of depth. My two cents.
The reason ark isn’t on the list is because every time you place something down your game lags and you fall through the floor and your computer fucking explodes
@Matthew V I was exaggerating a bit but the game was just not well optimized. Many framerate issues and sometimes it would just crash. But my computer is fine
@@vik8596 Incorrect. Largest based ever built outside of Minecraft are in Ark. Including underwater. Honestly ark is probably the most in depth base building in existence. Add multiplayer raids to that and Ark is truly amazing.
Serious Question, why is Conan Exiles never mentioned in these Lists ? I think it’s by far one of the best OWSBBG Esp compared to half this list. (No offense) it has PVP, PVE, even PVE-C, plenty of updates and DLC content. 1000’s of Weapons and plenty of lure Just wondering why it goes so unnoticed on the gamers radar. 🤔 someone please fill me in …
Conan has amazing building, probably one of the best game for base building. Yes it can be expensive with all the dlcs but geez they are selling games 70$ that don't even have building in them!!!
I made a crazy build in this game.. saved and reloaded no problem. Went to another area somewhat close by, me and my buddy started building an Asian inspired build, came on the next day and it had disappeared but not the original build I made. So I started rebuilding.. came off for the night, loaded back up and it was gone.. apart from that one issue, the vuilding is super fun, the packs have some really cool designs and I agree it should have been on this list for sure 🤞
Conan exiles end game is kinda meh even with AoC and such, once you get there all there is to do really is build and one of the bigger issues is optimisation, shit still takes years to load in a small castle etc let alone anything massive, yeah it can be done but you will run around your own base with like 30fps or less with huge builds, Conan has got better over the years but these issues are still here. Seeing as this video is about base building then i would say that alone should put conan in the list. I have 4000 hour in conan i have some knowledge :)
Great list! Thank you for sharing. Some others for readers: 1st person: Minecraft (not on Steam), Space Engineers, No Man's Sky, Raft Top Down: Dwarf Fortress, Going Medieval, Songs of Syx, War for the Overworld
Some other good base building/survival games: - Conan Exiles -> Extremely good base building (with a enormous variety of buildingpieces) and a lot of fun, using thralls to bring your base to life - Raft -> really nice raftbuilding survival, a loooot of building options and decorations - Grounded -> a good amount of building pieces and it makes really fun to explore the garden :) - ARK Survival Evolved -> one of my most loved games (over 4000 hours playtime)
Love the Top 10. Mine is pretty much the same as yours a couple different: adding incase someone is looking for something to try. In no particular order my favs are: Stranded Deep, The Forest, Sons of the Forest, 7 Days to Die, Medieval Dynasty, Planet Crafter, Subnautica, Subnautica Below Zero, Raft, Green Hell.
When I think of base building, I think of ARK Survival Evolved and No Man's Sky. ARK has some great building mods like Castles, Forts & Keeps. No Man's Sky allows you to build bases on planets and you even get your own freighter to deck out as your mobile space base.
Great list. I would put medieval dynasty in my list for being a cross between city builder / survival because It almost felt like having a first person survival view of banished.
I want a game where u build a little home in the woods, like a Ted K type game (not with terror) and where u can build everything. Make weapons, hunt, fish, have pets and js do whatever u want.
Rust should also be on this list, even though your base wipes without choice it's still one of the best base building games. PvE servers offer the ability to really build some wild stuff too.
Raptor, this is a useful format, but what would make it even more useful in the "real world" is having a super-short list of pros and cons about a particular game (the strong and the weak aspects of it). That would give a better idea for a viewer about whether the game is for him/her. Otherwise the game mention becomes more of an ad, rather than an actual advice from someone who has played it (which is much more useful).
I love this "top ten" from you Raptor. It felt so you and I love how you added in your own passion and love of gaming and playing these games even adding some of your "dad" humor in. 👌Since this is your first "top ten" (and a strong one at that). I can't wait to see all the other ones you do going forward. 23 minutes well spent, dude. Thanks.
In my top 10 base builder games, I definitely have Ark: Survival Evolved for all the base building possibilities plus the background it has. A classic, at this point. But I agree with almost all the titles you bring to light.
Satisfactory you can make absolutely beautiful bases along with making it not too difficult to acquire those resources. But some people have the most beautiful bases Ive ever seen. Along with the graphics being beautiful there too.

The amount of things you have to keep track of just to keep your duplicants alive and happy really sucks you in for hours of gameplay with high replay value as you explore more challenges. Plus the art style is really cute.

I want to try to get into RimWorld but I tried it once and immediately hated the limitations. You have to pick characters that have certain skills while lacking in almost everything else. I immediately felt the desire for well rounded characters and modded the game so that I could get them. Then I dropped off bc I didn’t have the energy for the learning curve. I’ll revisit some day
- Stranded Deep is such a great game to come home to after a hard day at work. It's just so nice and relaxing! - Green Hell is also a fantastic game, and I'm currently playing through SoA with a friend. - I tried as hard as I could to enjoy Valheim, but I really just couldn't get into it. - Played a bit of The Forest, and I enjoyed it, but never completed it. Looking forward to the sequel though. - Subnautica was another good game, but another one I couldn't get into as much as I should have. - Project Zomboid - another one I enjoyed playing briefly, but other games got in the way. - Subsistence - haven't tried that one. - Rimworld is so much fun! It's incredibly difficult to get into initially, but once you know what you're doing, the stories that come out of it are brilliant! Probably one of my favourite games I've played in recent years. - Haven't played any of the last two on the list, but I do want to give Foundation a try. A couple I'd add to the list would be Icarus and Medieval Dynasty - I see others have already beaten me to those in the comments, but they are two I really enjoyed.
Green Hell got me into the genre. Been a good way to teach my kid about the importance of paying attention to the things around you too. Would love to see them do other games in other biomes or settings. I still find myself taking a break from other games i love just to do base building and survival.
i thought the name of the game Planetary Annihilation Titans sounded familiar. I looked it up on steam and it turns out i have owned the game for over 4 years and had never even istalled it yet. Thats what happens when you have a gaming addiction.
Are any of these games just relaxing building games without combat/resource management? I'm looking for a game like Tiny Glade but with more exotic environments and ability to build interiors and landscape elements. Also with minimal PC requirements. I'm probably asking for too much, but maybe there's something out there. Like if any of these games have a sandbox mode with no objectives and no limitations that would be perfect.
I really actually love green hell, have about 200+ hours in it. but ive always kinda felt its base building is quite simple and difficult to really do anything other than anything than a little cube home. to choose that and not have ark or conan in this list is crazy. yeah ark and conan have their issues, but their base building is really good ( compared to green hell and stranded deep. i really enjoy both of these) but thats crazy
for a beginner that is just starting survival games I would recommend either rust because thiers helpful players (sometimes) or among trees for a peaceful survival experience
Great games, how long does it take to try them all? Oh, it's a pity there are not 60 hours in a day (. In addition to any reviews, I'm still looking for games on Steam, and purely by chance I stumbled upon Primal Menace, I was very interested, but there is not much information about this game, has anyone heard anything about it?
Valheim is the most impressive if you play the Roleplaying server. Adds a lot more features (mods) and adds an eco system that encourages trade and community towns. Incredible experiences. I usually get paid by others (in-game gold or trade) for interior design, farming, mercenary work, or delivering goods with your boat. You can trade more with a bigger boat of course. They also have ways to prevent people from greifing your builds to prevent loss of items and stuff. Joining a village makes it more immersive and it always has active players on 24/7. Sometimes up to 100 players on the server all working together (or fighting eachother). So much to do tbh, and every season on the RP server is different. Requiring people to have a background and roleplay their unique character helps with immersion. Every player picks different roles before joining (smithing, farming, cooking, fletchery, etc.....) Not to forget, they have proximity voice chat!
Thank you for sharing this video. Unfortunately most didn’t show up in my PSN search as this is for pc I’m guessing? Funny when you specifically type in PS4/PS5 games only and nothing shows lol 😂 thank you anyway
if only valheim doesnt have the desync problem because of their netcode it would be the best atm, but once you have more than 5+ players on a server, it goes to nuts
Man a lot has happened since this video dropped. We got Enshrouded, we got the Worlds Part I update for No Man's Sky, we got the 1.0 drop for Planet Crafter...tbh I don't think any current list would be complete without these three One thing that MOST base-builders include - which I specifically seek to avoid as much as possible - is the combat/fighting/base attacks. The term "survival" can mean a lot of things and most of the time I enjoy fighting against the elements or resource demands more than fighting against other players, wildlife, or zombies. I know that players like me are probably a minority in the genre, but it's good to see some games coming out where I can just build cool $hit without worrying about someone coming and blowing it up or getting bit in the bum by a badger
Some of my favourites, that I think you should check out. Most are Indie games. Animallica, Ark Survival Evolved, Conan Exiles, Core Keeper, Cryofall, Dawn of Man, Deadcraft, Deadly Flare, both of the Don't Starve games, Dysmantle, Force of Nature 1 and 2, Frostpunk, Green Project, The Infected, Junkpunk. There are many, many more. As you can see, i only got up to the J's in my Survival/Crafting games folder lol

I only play for the building aspect. Loads of new stuff was added. Definitely worthy of a mention.. Grounded that is.. Not my base. LOL Cheers TTFN
plz someone enlighten me, what do the valheim bosses share with the shadow of colossus bosses? I see zero similarities except they are bossmonster(even tho i wouldnt call the soc giants a monster, they didnt do anything wrong)
I thought the first subnautica was better than the sequal. Indeed the story was better. But I missed the usefulness of farming in part 2. And also the progression to reach larger depths was way better in the first.
state of decay 2 has the crappiest base building of all these games but I must say I find their base building a lot of fun. Its more than base building. Its a shooter looter zombie survival game and the base building is simple and fun.
WHAT IS THE BEST BASE BUILDING GAME? RAFT+ ASTRONEER (fixed an audio issue from a previous upload, enjoy!!!)

@@wild_child677 @MindvsMe Some of my irl friends wanted my list of survival games too, so I made a google doc for them. Here it is, if you want to check it out docs.google.com/document/d/1SnktYdn9kWqp9tNoBH-ungpNpQu2w_W7dcK7uMIXem8/edit?usp=sharing
@@MindvsMe See comment above. Sorry for the long wait.
Ark: Survival Evolved, Empyrion, Galactic Survival and Conan Exiles are conspicuous in their absence. I'd put these ahead of at least half of the titles on this list.
Seeing Planetary Annihalation in this list is kind of a surprise. This is an RTS and not actual base building. But nice list anyway 🙂
subsistence is one of the most hated games on steam =x
which game can you turn off combat and doesn't involve religion? Looking for a new base building game. Love your videos :)
Add list of games to description.
Idk if it's in the list yet. But my favorite building type of game is Last Island Of Survival. Games awesome besides all the hackers lol.
7 days to die. Can't wait for the console to have the newest update!!
RimWorld tops all
I will never understand how people like games like project zomboid. Clicking to move turns my brain to mush.
Everyone has their own tastes. I personally didn't understand the hype till I tried project zomboid for myself. Now it's in my top 3 survival games ever. It's so addicting.
Pal-World I'm a level 55 and there are still things I'm learning and have not challenged the big boss yet lol
What about 7 days to die?
Minecraft, MINECRAFT!!! THE ORIGINAL
Only person I truly trust to give me good city building games
Rust?
Dwarf Fortress for Pros not as much for newbies but the steam version helps it a lot.
I like most Medieval Dynasty (which is not on this video, surprisingly) and Valheim, but all are good.
Two games that can be on this list: Grounded and Fallout 76
STRANDED DEEP
7 Days to Die... Very special game
😲 No Grounded..?
My Lily Pad Mushroom Brick, 5 Story Castle With its Central Web Elevator and Pond Spanning Mushroom Brick Suspension Bridge is a Build I may very well enter into the aforementioned competition..
I only play for the building aspect.
Loads of new stuff was added.
Definitely worthy of a mention.. Grounded that is.. Not my base. LOL
Cheers TTFN
it's really hard for me to find a game comparable to valheim, i already tried stranded deep and ark
❤️❤️❤️
@Raptor Check Out No One Survived Awesome Building
Stranded alien dawn and No man s sky too
plz someone enlighten me, what do the valheim bosses share with the shadow of colossus bosses? I see zero similarities except they are bossmonster(even tho i wouldnt call the soc giants a monster, they didnt do anything wrong)
I was wondering the same. They aren't nearly as big and combat isn't similar at all. Who knows why he thinks they are similar lol.
I thought the first subnautica was better than the sequal.
Indeed the story was better. But I missed the usefulness of farming in part 2. And also the progression to reach larger depths was way better in the first.
an update to the forest came out called sons of the forest bassically the upgraded and better version off teh forest
While I love Foundation, I do not think it really qualifies as a base builder. Still a great game though.
I love Subsistence but the graphics are terrible and I wish it had controller compatibility. I only play single player though
ark survivor evolved best building especially in single player mod
Just fyi, stranded deep multiplayer is buggy. Hopefully an update will fix some of those issues. Same with green hell.
state of decay 2 has the crappiest base building of all these games but I must say I find their base building a lot of fun. Its more than base building. Its a shooter looter zombie survival game and the base building is simple and fun.
