  • Hi ,
    in this new video you will learn how to make your own board to dockstart with a foil.
    I also give you my tips that helped me when learning the pumping technique.
    in this video i
    use 1000 Glide from www.allure-wat... with stab 37 surf from www.ap3dcustom...
    I'm a Foil enthusiast (kitefoil, surfoil, wingfoil) and unfortunately I can't afford all the equipment so I do it myself.
    I am a self taught builder and this video shows my process of building a foilboard that works for me

    Nice board and nice montage too! It is very helpful as I am about to build one myself, thank you.
    I have a few question if you have some time to answer:
    1. Why fill the holes for the foil mount with expoxy + microballoons instead of epoxy + silice as i understand this would be stronger?
    2. What is the purpose of epoxy + silice layer before the expoxy + microballoons?
    3. Are you using regular stainless steel pan head machine screw to mount the foil to the board?
    Happy foiling!

    Belle board Greg!

    Great job! What is epoxy + silice? And what did you use for colour? Well done on dock start! Did you make the foil too? It looks to be high aspect wing.

      Silice it's filler adding to epoxy like micro-balloon. I use pigment with epoxy .
      No i just make my board, not my foil. And yes it's kinda HA wing

      Would a slingshot ptm 926 work it's only 1350cm but pumps well for winging and slow stall speed maybe 7mph ?

      Maybe, i don't know. Try and let me know the answer 😉

      @GregBasmati I would need to make a board for it my wing board is 114l so to big
      It's a lot to do if the foil won't work
      I haven't seen anyone in the UK try it so no chance of any second hand kit 😕

    Salut, merci pour la video, tu pense que sur une planche de pump ca se fait de strat pont et carène d'un coup sous vide? J'ai tout préparé je suis en train de voir pour la strat

    Is the xps prone to delamination and would wood be better?
    Also, how do you stop the screws from pulling through and what kind of bolt are you using underneath? Normally in my axis foil the countersunk screws sit flush in the base plate and the foil track bolts in the box but you have the screws going deck down. Are you just using regular bolts underneath on the baseplate?

    • @GregBasmati
      @GregBasmati  Год назад +1

      If your sanding with 80 the xps before no delamination (Imo) but i think there is no concensus xps vs other foam. some prefer xps, others hate it and claim the risk of delamination. if you sand your surface well before in my opinion no worries

      @@GregBasmati thanks. The pic of the screws is very helpful. I hear what U are saying re xps. I'm not that experienced so thinking I'm a bit hesitant to use it. If I chose to use just a piece of ply wood or maybe some pine wood say about an inch thick, do you think using polyester resin is ok? Epoxy is very expensive where I live. Also, does it matter if there is no rocker? I would just be using it for dockstart

    Bravo, superbe board Greg !
    Je suis sur un projet similaire mais je bloque complètement sur le système de vis ; comment fais-tu en pratique ? Tu mets des écrous côté platine du foil ?
    Et autre question, pour le vaccum est-ce un type de bâche spécifique ou n’importe quel plastique fait l’affaire ? J’ai peur de retrouver le plastique collé à ma résine 😅
    Merci ;)

      Je pense que pour le sous vide c'est un plastique spécifique. Ça ne colle pas à la résine, faut pas en tartiner trop dessus quand même car tu risques de déchirer ta bâche en enlevant la planche

    Nice done!
    I am wondering, wouldn't it be enough with just a waterproof plywood plate without carbon and fiberglass?

    • @GregBasmati
      @GregBasmati  11 месяцев назад

      I do not think so, even it's waterproof plywood, fiberglass or carbon provides rigidity and strength.
