Started watching your vids in early April and I've viewed them all and I'm not a sailing fan. I was most impressed with the health situation vids you shared. As a 74 year old, paraplegic for 27 with similar bathroom issues, I was so happy to see someone else share the intimate life issues we have to get through a day. Ive tried to do similar going to hospitals, extended care facilities to tell others that life can go on, it's not a death sentence. I salute you for being so open about it and putting it on a vid. It is a breath of fresh air in a situation that is so demonized by others. Great job. I'll continue even though I was a 30 year helicopter pilot and never got sick but I get sick just watching some of your vids. Much admiration.

Just a tip mate, whenever you are gluing up with glass and epoxy you must keep all parts 100% clean of ANY and all contaminants. Throwing those parts onto a dirty bench and constant handling will leave residues of oils, grease, dirt and anything else thats on those areas

I learned how to water-ski on an old wooden Maharaja ski 40 years ago. Five years later this thing called a scurf board came out, I about beat myself death learning how to use it. But I can still feel the sense of victory once I was able to stay up. 😁 good times.

Great work - on building the board, and learning to ride it! For fiberglass work, I recommend looking up the Burt Rutan video, "Building Rutan Composites Build Your Own Aircraft" on RUclips - uploaded by "firstflight video." It's 40+ years old now, but still valid and relevant for building non-molded composite parts like your hydrofoil, as well as airplanes and boats. The principles of proper closeouts and edges are totally valid - shows how to make it structurally strong as well as how to keep water from getting inside. One tip: to avoid using so much resin on the first glass over the foam, first mix up a batch of thickened resin - Burt used glass microballoons, but other lightweight fillers would probably work fine. Doing this will save resin as well as saving weight. In the decades since there've obviously been other techniques developed - like using 3D printing for forms, as well as using "low vac" vacuum bagging for foam core composite structures.

Another great video. That’s a cool foil, good job building it too. I hope you do build a boat one day. CLC has some great kits for smaller boats. A stitch and glue plywood sailing dingy would probably be a great place to start, but I would love to see you build your next cruiser. The satisfaction and accomplishment would be amazing; to sail across an ocean on a self built boat… one of my dreams.

Next time you go out try with your foil mounted further back. It looked like the foil was struggling to get over the speed hump and stalling (the tell is board nose height). With the foil back in the track box you'll have less front foot pressure (the board wont feel like its popping up so much) but you'll get up to board hull speed faster before slowly rising up. Good foiling technique feels like bad Hobie trapezing (front leg bent, back leg straight).

Great fun Sam, if you are looking to try all from of sailing when you sail south you need to try land yachting. There are a heap of sailing schools on the channel coast. I can recommend it, sailing at 60mph is wild.

Nice job Sam and well done on the progression and for showing us all that. Reminds me of knee boarding for the first time and trying to get the thigh strap all set before you get wiped. Or, kicking the second ski off for the first time when trying to slalom ski for the first time and then trying to get your back foot in the loop before you get a death wobble and face plant. Or, windsurfing for the first time and trying to turn to starboard on a port tack, holding on just a bit too long, after you messed up and ending up on top of the sail in the water :)
    Cheers, Sev

Life offers so much chance to have fun. I regretfully will never be able to even try this, not since my freedom of movement was compromised when I was in a coma after being run down by a speeding truck. I enjoy your Can Do attitude. I would dearly love a sea going yacht like yours as that looks to be no stress to sail - my cup of tea. I cannot move around freely any longer - not since 1992 - but sailing will offer me the freedom to explore beyond the horizon where bees cannot sting me to death! I was stung by a swarm a few decades back and now am highly allergic to bee stings.
