Silent Night

  • I watched The Chosen’s Christmas episode with my family for the first time this Christmas and found myself very moved by their presentation of this. Later I learned that most of the episode was what they used as a kick starter for the series.
They wrote it from the viewpoint of the shepherds, zeroing in on a lowly shepherd boy who struggles with a disability in his legs. He is shunned in the marketplace by the priest. He is disrespected by his own friends and treated like a burden. But God chose these lowly outcasts to be the first to share the good news that Jesus was born.
I was particularly moved by watching the shepherd get so excited to meet the Savior that he leaves his crutch behind to run to the stable. Perhaps it’s because of some of the own difficulties I’ve overcome, or perhaps it is just so moving already to think of what we should be willing to leave behind in pursuit of our savior. I cut this up as a bit of a shorter presentation but also recorded myself singing silent night as he’s running just because it seemed so fitting, and as the Christmas season ends today I wanted to share this with you from my own perspective. If you’ve never seen this before, it’s worth watching!

It’s so sad how they treat him. How would you feel if that happened to you so wrong?
