Your video is awesome too. The best thing is that you added that little screen on the corner which shows war footage. Really makes it more interesting.
5:40 what a Blitzkrieg haha. But on a more serious note, an interactive map like this perfectly highlights the huge difference between a Western military doctrine based on mobility and Yugoslav People's Army artillery-siege warfare (a perfect example of that is seen in the Bihać pocket, green area in NW Bosnia). As soon as Croatia adopted Western doctrine, tactics, command&control in late 1994 it didn't take long for the results to show. Serbian units with their shallow defenses, dug-in cannons and vehicles really did not stand a chance against armor, artillery and aviation working in close cooperation. On numerous occasions the advance was so swift that Serbian howitzers were captured intact in their dugouts without managing to fire a single shot.
@@minusPetar That famous myth is only alive in Serbia proper, where they ignore the fact that Milošević kept arming and supplying the ARSK with everything from a bullet to Russian-made SAMs, only for them to end up as Croat war trophies. The ARSK was routed before Milošević could even mobilize his main forces. Milošević himself openly mocked these Krajina losers, implying he had been in fact donating weapons to Croatian Army.
@@minusPetar He was being sarcastic, as all the weapon systems he had been stockpiling for the protracted defense of Krajina were so easily captured by Croatian Army which significantly expanded its inventory with ARSK equipment. Serbian soldiers didn't even bother to destroy operational weapons and vehicles they left behind in their retreat (rout, that is). He commented on this following the meeting of the Serbian General Staff just after 'Storm', where he expressed disgust for the ARSK and their performance in battle, saying it was he who provided them with the means to fight in the first place, but they (and I quote) 'ran like rabbits, and couldn't even defend an urban area like Knin for at least 12 hours'.
@@minusPetar Of course he was right. All our differences aside, Milošević should be the last person to take the blame. Their army is to blame, with its archaic tactics and brittle morale.
@@minusPetar They weren't actually, since they had conquered territory in Northern Bosnia in the opening stages of the war which secured them the vital link with Serbia. Serbs referred to it as the 'corridor of life'. Through it the ARSK received its last reinforcements from Serbia in early June 1995, and used it to build up an armored reserve as an independent unit, dubbed the 'Special units Corps', based in Kordun (central Croatia).
@@minusPetar It actually didn't, as all Croatian operations always aimed for either Knin or Banja Luka as enemy center of gravity. It was thought Serb collapse could be brought about quicker with the capture of 'capital' cities of Serb separatist entities, rather than cutting off their army which would still be well armed and would fight like a cornered animal (this seems a bit off applying traditional military thinking but had its reasons but I don't feel like going into that much detail). Thus, all operations were launched either to outflank Knin or as a direct drive on Banja Luka, and corridor was never attacked even at its thinnest points. In the meantime Serb forces aimed to widen the corridor in 1995 but failed to gain any ground. Corridor was severed following the Dayton accords by granting the town of Brčko a 'special' status, meaning it's not part of either the RS or the Federation.

1) At min 4:00, you should have made Herceg-Bosna and Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina one color because it was formed the "Bosniak-Croatian Federation" at March 18, 1994. 2) At min 5:46 should you have made the countries USA, France, Great Britain, Spain, Italy, German, Netherlands, Turkey also one color because they bombed positions of the VRS in Bosnia (I think VRSK positions were also bombed by NATO in RSk, but I'm not 100% sure) 3) During the Kosovo war, uprising in Preševo and Macedonia you should have given Albania a color because they were also indirect supporters of the UÇK, UÇPMB and NLA also when FR Yugoslavia indirectly supported RS and RSK. 4) When NATO bombed FR Yugoslavia, you should have painted NATO countries 5) Bulgaria and Ukraine were also indirect supporters of Macedonia in 2001, you could have painted them too But otherwise everything fits anyway
Serbs wanted to stay in Yugoslavia, but western countries thought Yugoslavia should be broken acording to their interest (Bosnia independent among other things). West gave ultimatum to rest of Yugoslavia (Belgrade) to leave Bosnia. They left, but helped Serbs set up Srpska to defend their homes and rights (which have allredy been broken by unconstitutional referendum). US made Craotians and Bosniaks to burry their hatchets and fight Serbs together. And together with army of now independent Croatia, and NATO bombing conquered parts of Srpska resulting in peace according to US interests.

@pt 2 Croats in Bosnia helped the Bosniaks in many ways and weren't bothered with a federal Bosnia but since the Izetbegovic and some other Muslims wanted a Islamic Republic and also because the Bosniaks had already plans of betraying the Croats in 1992 with attacking the Catholic populations in Central Bosnia to let the Eastern Bosniaks settle there they went against each other. Izetbegovic only cared about the Muslims. I know I went a bit off topic but that's a brief explanation. Edith: And also those 250.000 Serbs that were living in Croatia, Krajina at that point live there because Croats gave them the permission to do so since they flew from Ottoman invasion. And 30 years ago their offspring wanted to join Serbia which of course Croatia was against since this was historically Croatian land and showed how unthankful people can be. Of course I'm against war and injustice and I really have not much against Serbs and Bosniaks but these are facts.

Very good job! This is a rare video that quite precisely describes the timeline of the Yugoslav wars. I am very impressed! Since I am a little interested in history, I would like to ask what happened to the Croatian communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina (HZ Bosanska Posavina, HZ Srednja Bosna, HZ Usora and HZ Hercrg-Bosna) that were created in a similar way to the Serbian autonomous regions from november 1991 to january 1992? I think there is confusion about that, because some of the Croatian municipalities that have declared autonomy overlap with Serbian autonomies, so I would like to ask why they are not shown in the video?
Bosnian Croats split with the Bosniaks from Yugoslavia and fought against the Serbs together until of late 1992 when the Croats turned against the Bosniaks.

Your Kosovo war map is not correct. Albanian rebels in Kosovo never had contact with border with Albania.
Yes they had. Even Serbian army entered the territory of Albania trying to destroy UÇK. This caused a war alert in Albania and the suspention of Albanian-Yugoslav relations
1) At min 4:00, you should have made Herceg-Bosna and Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina one color because it was formed the "Bosniak-Croatian Federation" at March 18, 1994.
2) At min 5:46 should you have made the countries USA, France, Great Britain, Spain, Italy, German, Netherlands, Turkey also one color because they bombed positions of the VRS in Bosnia (I think VRSK positions were also bombed by NATO in RSk, but I'm not 100% sure)
3) During the Kosovo war, uprising in Preševo and Macedonia you should have given Albania a color because they were also indirect supporters of the UÇK, UÇPMB and NLA also when FR Yugoslavia indirectly supported RS and RSK.
4) When NATO bombed FR Yugoslavia, you should have painted NATO countries
5) Bulgaria and Ukraine were also indirect supporters of Macedonia in 2001, you could have painted them too
But otherwise everything fits anyway
That's stupid to made rbih and herceg bosna in one colour because you can't see who what conquered

Why republic sprska did not join serbia? I am confuse as they dont really like bosnian.
Republic of Srpska can't join Serbia cause it's not independent state
Serbs wanted to stay in Yugoslavia, but western countries thought Yugoslavia should be broken acording to their interest (Bosnia independent among other things).
