    Timely upload! I have all the lumber for something very similar sitting on my back patio, and this video will probably save me some "sittin' and figurin'" time.

    Firstly, Hi from the UK. This is so good coz I've been contemplating having a greenhouse but the prices are extortionate. So guess what? Oh yeah this is gonna be my first project. I like the way your honesty shows through and what a brilliant design and build. Thank you so much for sharing.

      You're welcome and thanks for letting us know you enjoyed the video and even in the United States right now lumber prices have tripled and in some cases are six times what they were last year in 2020.

    Good job, nice and easy. But a little time consuming.
    I just finished my greenhouse. But I tried to build it to last. I used all 2x4s. I also have a big problem with insects. Do to the 300 acre farm across the street from me. They spray their crops once a week. And guess where the insects go, to my garden.
    For the last 2 years I've lost my everything due to insects. Bugs I've never seen before in my life. So I'm going to see if a greenhouse will help.
    I built a 10x12 greenhouse.
    I wanted to keep it off the ground. So I laid down 3 treated 2x4s then built a 10x12 box with treated 2x4s on top and attached the box to the 3 2x4s. Then I just used that cheap chip board for the floor, but I painted it first with 3 coats of porch paint. So it sits about 5 inches off the ground.
    Then for the framing I used all 2x4s, but I put 2 coats of white simi gloss exterior paint on everything before I started building. Very time consuming. I made all the walls 8 feet high. I forget what I made the pitch of the roof at, but from floor to the ridge is 14 feet.
    Now this is where I messed up. I was going to wrap it with 4x8 sheets of double walled polycarbonate, but they are $80.00 each. So I went with the 26"x8' panels. And what a big pain in the fanny. And then on top of the pain in the fanny, once you buy all the other things you have to buy to install these panels. It cost more than if I would have went with the double walled 4x8 sheets. Live and learn I guess.
    Anyway thanks for all your time it takes to make your videos. And keep them coming. You do have some good ideas, especially for easy builds.
    Take care and I hope your wife enjoys her greenhouse.

    For the scrap lumber idea, places like home depot have scrap for free. You just have to ask

    I have been watching several videos here about building Greenhouses, and they all look very nice and sturdy, BUT, what I have also noticed is that ALL of them are just like MY own GH in 1 way. They all have NO roof vents. I have a very nice and sturdy GH. But, it has NO roof vent. It does have a vent at the top rear, a door with a way to make it so that the glass can be lowered, and then it will be a screen on the door so that fresh air can come in. BUT, I have read many articles about greenhouses and how that roof vents can REALLY help cool off a greenhouse. And, most greenhouses have roof vents. I really have NO IDEA why my GH did NOT have any roof vents. I have asked a friend who knows a few people in a community that is NOT Amish, BUT, they are POSSIBLY mennonite, IF anyone would be interested in building a roof vent for my Greenhouse?
    IF I can't get any of those mennonites to build my GH a roof vent, maybe I can install me a sorta window on my GH that will help release some heat when I need to release it?

    I think you did a great job. No you didn't done the finish 100%.... but who cares. You wanna a cheap greenhouse to grow vegetables. Who care how the finish lookes like. I would rather do something like this... than spend more money and time to make it looks spotless. The only person that gonna enjoy this is your self and wifey.

      It's been a few months and we have a couple of ripped sections, but now keep everyone informed on how it holds up. And yes there are definitely more ways to build one of these.

    How’s your awesome build holding up 2 years later??

    • @gregvancom
      @gregvancom  Год назад +1

      It's still looks the same. The door is sagging and needs a little lift to shut, but that's a standard problems for the way it was built.

    Were can I buy the plastic to wrap the frame?

    • @gregvancom
      @gregvancom  3 года назад +1

      Plastic can usually be purchased at local home improvement centers and lumber yards, but the tulle fabric might need to be purchased online or at a fabric store.
