@the.true.A fr i cant imagine playing minecraft, without it anymore, the 32 chunk render distance just looks pathetic now, not to metion it also runs a lot worse
I spent four hours yesterday setting up my install with distant horizons and shaders set exactly the way I wanted, and now it seriously feels like I’m playing Minecraft again for the first time. Going through a map that I’ve been building in since 2015, was magical. Seeing my realm brought to life in every direction with shaders was absolutely mind blowing. I’m excited about playing this game again like I haven’t been in almost ten years 🥹
oh yeah fyi, those black spots that are happening csn be fixed by going into DH's settings -> graphics -> advanced quality option -> changing overdraw type to "always", you're welcome.
Ok so I tried this mod today. Here are some notes: - starting with the recent DH version 2.1 and the release of Iris 1.7 it is now easy to play with shaders and DH is more stable. - LOD quality does not change performance too much so I keep it at extreme - When starting in a new world: put CPU load on aggressive or higher and let the game do its thing for a while to quickly generate the LODs. After some time put CPU load back to minimal/low and start playing.
how do i add shaders to it ive been trying to figure it out for a while on cursed forge is there a specific version i download for me to be able to combine shaders on curse with the mod
I seem to have a huge performance difference between high and extreme At high I run at 60 fps with shaders, but on extreme my game straight up freeze and then crashes lol
My frames are 60 standing still and around 10 walking (2chunks) I think it is surface go 2 computer but it is weird because it used to get 40 consistently
Random but depending on the shaders it can work with Distant Horizons (not the derendered, LOD, chunks of course). Not compatible at all at the moment with Iris Shaders, use Optifine or Optifabric. Personal example BSL shaders.
@@GeorgeDaGamer_ if we consider only the game out of the box bedrock has 96 chunks, java only 32, bedrock makes more FPS and it has native support for mods
Currentely it's still in beta and struggles a lot with custom renderers from a lot of mods so keep that in mind Imo the mod right now is best suited for vanilla+ packs but lets see how that changes over time
You can get better performance and more distance by cranking up the Lod distance and lowering your actual render distance, have an 8 render distance is already enough
Bro, i have a bad pc but i can play smoothly in 1.18 but when i used distance horizon the chunks are like loading so slow. The game might somtimes just freeze or sometimes be full black. The chunks also rarely appear black. Idk what to do this mod great with everyone but its very bad for me. Every video i see of this mod its running smoothly but for me, its not. I didnt even put that much chunks on only like 40 chunks on the mod settings.
That's strange. What CPU do you have? Distant Horizons 2.0 is releasing soon, and you can even test it out now if you're in their discord server, so maybe give that a shot and see if you have better performance!
@@relaxplay7 um ok, I will tell you the result. Also the cpu is Intel i3 7200u, my ram is 4GB Ram. Idk what is the problem because I dont usually get that much lag while playing vanilla Minecraft. Minecraft does not require that much graphics usage so I dont thing that my GPU is a problem.
biggest problem for me is that it doesn't support servers, itll only load chunks, never generate new chunks on the far distances. Theres only one thing that I hate more than short rendering distances, inconsistent rendering distances
There's actually a serverside version of the mod which is being developed and is already functional. With it if you pregenerate a large area of chunks like with the chunky mod anyone who joins with DH will be sent the LODs that have been generated by the server
@mathdantastav2496 yes, it's great for making a ton of LODs around spawn. DH does also actually generate LODs for chunks that haven't been loaded yet and from what little testing I've done the same is said for the server side version, you just need to give it some time as there are alot of chunks it needs create LODs for
That's strange, I'm not sure why it would be behaving that way for you. Maybe try a different Distant Horizons version that works for 1.19.4? Otherwise try just using 1.19.3 or the beta 1.20.1 version on their discord.

Welcome back! A lot has changed since you last played. Sodium is a new performance mod that runs with the fabric mod loader, and it is purely a performance mod, with no extra features. But, it works with a large majority of fabric mods, which includes Shaders, zoom mods, and dynamic lights mods. Let me know if you'd like a list of what I would recommend!

Yes, but there's a catch. Even if you use a mod to set your render distance to 64 chunks, if the server's setting is only 10 chunks, it will still only display 10 chunks at once. So, with your 64-chunk setting, you would need to physically travel through all 64 chunks for them to be stored as an LOD chunk, given the server's limit. Lemme know if that makes sense!
