In 1979, the band originally formed in Salem, Oregon under the name 'Power Faith' with band members John Mahan, Russ Koch, Jim Maxwell and the Late Bob Page. It wasn't long before 'Power Faith' broke up with the members going their separate ways. However, Just a year later, all members except Bob Page reunited under the moniker 'The Gentiles'. With the band primed and ready, they entered the studio to record their first demo with a stand in Vocalist-Max Clark. Things never took off and the group disbanded in 1982.
Later within that same year-1982, Bassist-Richard Lynch and drummer-Gene McClindon both with a strong desire to continue in the Metal scene, formed a new band under the current name 'Saint'. Guitarist/Vocalist Josh Kramer soon joined completing the group. The newly formed band performed a few gigs and soon began thinking about the idea of starting their own label.
1984 saw the birth of the new label Rotton Records. With their own label, the band quickly moved forward and released an EP titled 'Warriors Of The Son'. The band consisted of Josh Kramer(Vocals), John Mahan(Guitars), Richard Lynch(Bass), and Brian Willis(Drums).
Then in 1988 Saint released their well known full-length album 'Too Late For Living'. This release gained some additional help from Guitarist-Dee Harrington and Drummer-John Perrine. Just as things were taking off for the band, everything came to a halt as the members all went their separate ways.
In 2003 the band reformed through the efforts of Richard Lynch with Josh Kramer on Vocals, new Guitarist-Jerry Johnson, and Drummer-Larry London. Then in 2004, they released an album titled 'In The Battle'.
Josh has one of the best voices within metal. In my opinion. The band is still going but I believe the only original member is the bassist Richard Lynch.

Time's End is my favorite Saint album and also my favorite song from the band. I love it when you react to Christian bands, Shane, so keep doing what you're doing. Back in the 80's, the Christian music industry didn't quite know what to do with bands like Saint because of the subject of most of their lyrics; that being death, destruction, torment, etc. But for those of us who were fans, we couldn't get enough of it. These guys have a long history in the music industry and have recorded a number of good tunes. Keep on rockin'!
Btw, I would recommend any Vengeance Rising song from Once Dead, specifically Among The Dead, Frontal Lobotomy, Warfare, Herod's Violent Death, Can't Get Out, or Cut Into Pieces.

My favorite by them. I got Times End when it came out. Blasted it every day. Still listen to it this day. This is the book of Revelations put to killer music. The follow up album, Too Late for Living is amazing too. They got a bit more technical and speedy, but when it comes down to straight forward bash your brains in heavy metal, Times End is the one for me!

Back in the day, the only place to find Christian Metal was the Christian Book Stores. And there would be a compare list. List would give a "If You Like" secular artist and the Christian band that would sound similar. I remember seeing "If You Like Judas Priest or Iron Maiden, you will like Saint" Good Memories, Thank U for the review, check out Vengeance Rising "Human Sacrifice"

I was really into Christian Metal... unfortunately I wasn't into a lot of Mainstream Metal. There are very few bands in Christian Metal that had an original sound, there were a few and others that went into the Mainstream as individuals. I worked in a Christian Book Store and a lot of moms would come in (not exclusive to metal and say my son or daughter likes.... is there a "Christian" counter, and yes there was). From Ratt, to Echo and the bunny men, to the Cure, Kansas, ACDC, Bob Dylan, Boston, The Cult, Iron Maden, Judas Priest... the list goes on you name a Christian Band or Artist in 80's till now I can find there counter part... however a few bands were just great, they may have had similar sounds but these Christian artists were great

Hey, dropping in for a listen. Please keep covering these virtually unknown bands. No one went into Christian music, let alone Christian Rock/Metal for the money, fame, or even any sort of recognition. This band is one of the originals, pioneers.Good example of the turn or burn messaging that was a lot of early Christian metal that as young teens wanted to jam but also wanted to be uplifted.
That was 35 years ago and still going.
I think you are probably thinking of maybe a bit of Black Sabbath, too.

I am a little troubled by the album art...are those to be like sea-dwelling evil cats?? This is another case where in the band photo, the guys don't seem like they are totally comfortable with the look - especially the dude 2nd from the right. That begs me to question as to whether the gear was their idea or their manager's...I don't think "stylists" really existed back then for bands of this genre. Independent of that, I thought this was an enjoyable solid jam with a nice groove and I agree with the Rob Halford influence in the singer's voice. Good pick from Chris! 🤘
