104+ Meter Javelin Throw, Still No World Record. WHY?

  • Uwe Hohn, an athlete from East Germany, set a javelin throw world record of 104.80 meters in 1984. This incredible throw is the longest in history under the old javelin design. Due to this extraordinary distance, the Javelin's design was later modified to prevent such long throws and to ensure athlete safety. As a result, Hohn's record remains unmatched and unbreakable under the previous javelin specifications.

Prime Jan Zelezny with the old javelin = 110meter

It actually is the world record for the old javelin.

Why? Beacuse they have changed the construction of javelin. Therefore this is old record with old type of javelin. Nothing more into it. Current WR holds Jan Železný with CURRENT type of javelin...until some1 beats him OR until they change the javelin type again. Whats not to understand here?

It heavier in the front to make it go down faster. Which I guess is allso why most javelin now land in the ground, and not like the old days where if more often landed flat.

@@Nikolaiwww true! This is by design that most, if not all javelins, land face down, and not flat!

What would be throw of Arshad Nadeem, Neeraj Chopra and Jan Zelezany using javelin size same as Uwe Hohn.

Tom Petranoff did throw 99,72m (1983 back then WR) with same spec Javelin than Hohn and later 89,16 (1991) with today's spec model. Maybe gives some idea?
