There are 84 throws over 90m of all time, 52 of them by Jan Zelezny
The rest from Finland 😁👏🏻
Joni Papillon the rest from Germany
Last time over 90m was 2011! So todays guys suck!

I am an athlete. I saw Jan Zelezny in a training camp with my own eyes. It was around 1989-1990. His coach asked to the athletes present to kindly move away from the whole ground... We didn't recognize him immediately... On the contrary, we thought who is this moron... Then, at the first training throw (with three steps only) we realized that he was a master... Impressive!!! The thing that still impressed me today, 30 years later, is the extraordinary acceleration he could impart to the javelin. The acceleration was amazing. And also I remember well the javelin vibrated in the air and sound never want to come down... There is no video or description that could give an idea of the Zelezny throwing power. Impressive!
Thank you for your description, excellent research for my writing!

@@berndbulle5214 The roman legion, arguably the greatest fighting force of all time (compared relatively to others at the time), literally had the main bulk of its force train in throwing javelins (Pilums). Javelin is so hard on the body, most throwers can only peak world class for 3-5 years, people like Thorkildsen/Pitkamaki did it for 7-11 years. Zelezny did it for nearly 20 years, winning bronze at the 2006 European champs at 40 YEARS OLD (!) and making his debut on the world stage around 1987. What an absolute legend!
Imagine someone like Thomas Rohler who really hit world class in 2015 being around in 2035 :D
Legend. Deserved far more publicity and appreciation.
So true. I witnessed an horrific shoulder accident in the mid 80's. All the ligaments/muscles whatever between the biceps, shoulder and chest, just broke and it was awful. Javelin is probably the sport that I would choose last. Even though, it is one of the toughest ones on the planet. Great video!
Imagine asking him to throw you the remote

Genetic freak, half human, half beast. Or that was actually a bionic arm, there's no other explanation. Zelezny is the most dominating athlete I know, I don't know why he isn't more famous (well yes I do, because he reigned before hyper marketing times). His sport is just as classic and appealing as the 100m dash and he was just as dominating as Usain Bolt is, if not more. And he was always the smallest of all his opponents. A true legend.
He has thrown 98.48m, and the next best thrower after that is Thomas Rohler at 93.9m. Noone even gets close to Jelezny. His record will be the toughest in athletics to break for a long time, dare I say it, harder than it will be to break Bolt's 9.58s in the 100m.
Ben Sullivan dude that just changed

It`s not about the arm , but you are so right !
This guy would chuck a javelin over the stadium and still look dissapointed, holy hell this guy is a boss :O
When he retired, at 40 years old, he was still capable of throwing javelins at 85 meters.
86m without 8cm 🤣🙈
when he was 43, he threw 84.5m on some training meeting, i forgot where :/
He also won bronze medal on his last race in career. It was in Goteborg in 2006 at european championship and it was about 86 meters. He was 40 years old at that time. Amazing in that age.

how far their wr is today...compared to now??
Patrick Bieszke lately, Denia Caballero and Sandra Perkovic threw over 70 meters, but the record is at over 76 meters, that's a huge gap, there's no way that Sandra just comes one day and throws 5 meters further.
I understand that, I was referring to the awful grammar in that comment
______ what if wind influenced the javelin to go further?
Callum Sheldrake the javelin isn't really affected by wind force and drag. They would need to throw while a hurricane carried the javelin further in order to be really affected by the wind enough to achieve a new WR.
Now, considering that most of the important international competitions are executed inside of a stadium, it's less likely that the javelin will be affected by wind.

The greatest. The man with the golden arm. The benchmark for all javelin throwers.
When you put all your skill points into "Throwing" and "One-Handed"
After years of throwing, his left leg, which stop his moving body after throw, was 3cm(1,18inch) shorter, than the right leg. With smile on his face, he told, that after rehabilitation is everything fine.
Once, he throw over 100m, but it was not recognized as official record, due to non official type of javelin he threw. That was huge disappointment for him, because he was using that javelin for practising and it wasn't just certified.

Yeah, they changed the center of gravity requirement around the time Zelezny threw 104 meters as it was becoming a risk to high jumpers at the end of the field. The guy is almost superhuman. With a further forward center of gravity, the tip fell faster and reduced flight distance. It also made foul throws less likely. Tail first fouls. I threw a lot as a decathlete, best 57 meters. Had strained inner elbow tendons so often and most Javelin throwers do. Very few can do it for years without very sore elbows, and if they don't get that, it's back and hip injuries. Brutal event.
