I worked at Jiffy Lube. All of the managers and uppers really push the customer service advisors to make extra sales on top of the oil changes. It's not the employees, it's the higher ups.
Employees aren’t intellectually inferior to their managers or higher ups. They have a general sensibility they aren’t baboons that just follow orders like slaves that have no free-will. They are equipped with the same mechanisms as every other human being and have a brain and common sense. They don’t have some type of mental handicap. So they make a choice to be complicit. I’m saying you can’t just take blame off them like they are dogs that didn’t know any better. They made the choice, they didn’t have to upsell but they did. The whole establishment is to blame from the employees to the managers. Don’t leave any stones unturned. Scum of the earth
I was an 8 dollar an hour assistant manger at this sad excuse for a business years ago, this is an everyday thing at Jiffy Lube, upper management would constantly pressure you to up sell to customers, and meet a certain sales quota every day or risk being fired. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE never bring your car to Jiffy Lube it's a ripoff!!!. These people aren't even real techs, they hire anyone off the streets for minimum wage, and they don't have the slightest clue as how to work on cars. I quit this job due to the amount of corruption going on with this company. P.S. that fuel injector cleaning service they try to charge you $59.99 for cost jiffy lube under 3 bucks, I've seen the invoices, they sell sub par products at a massively inflated price, it's cheaper to go to your mechanic shops that always run specials anyways.
Yes, they really tried pushing the fuel injector cleaning for $99 3 times and everytime I had to say no and he's like "are you sure? You really should have it done?". I try to avoid these places at all costs
I used to work at a Jiffy Lube. The management tells you to recomend everything on the screen that applies within their milage recomendation, not specific manufacturers. I did see when there was a distric manager change a heavy push on sales. He was focused on bonuses. At my specific locations we never sold anything and not completed it, or if unable to like the fuel filter on the top of the tank, those tools wernt avalible we didnt charge them. I personaly dont take my car to any big shop.
I HAVE A BUDDY THAT BROUGHT HIS CAR TO JIFFY LUBE AND THEY DID NOT TIGHTEN THE DRAIN PLUG CORRECTLY, SO HE DROVE AROUND WITH LOW TO ZERO OIL AND HIS ENGINE SEIZED. THANKS JIFFY LUBE!!!
Its not really fair to harass the employees, they are just doing the job as defined by the company, the company is in the wrong, the employees are just minimum wage cogs in the machine
And employees getting RIPPED off as well I work at one in Alberta we get fuck over and with the covid19 we getting it bad . And guys getting sick but still have to come to work.
I've been working as a mechanic for only a few years but I do get customers that are always apprehensive when I work on their cars, and it's usually because of places like this. I always tell them to bring me the parts they want me to replace and I show them the old parts when I finish so they know they were replaced.
i remember way back in 2005/2006 or so, my local jiffy lube was advertising the "engine flush"..i was much younger then.. (25) and didn't really know much about cars. I decided not to get it done. glad i didn't. :) my local jiffy lube was pretty good till around 2013 or so, and they didn't change the gasket on my oil filter housing, causing oil to leak everywhere. luckily I caught it in time. never been back since.
pisses me off because corporations like that just want to make a quick buck. when they get caught it just gives honest people like me and others a bad name.
when i change my brakes, i buy brakes online and only go to a private auto mechanic for their labor. when i change my engine oil and filter, I buy new ones from Wal Mart and take it into an auto mechanic for the labor....so you get the drift. Always ask them to give you back the old parts so you know they put in the new parts. Auto Mechanics can be some of the most dishonest people in the world.
Newsflash! It isn't just Jiffy Lube and EZ Lube, it's also the new car dealers! My wife's Camry A/C light was flashing with no cold air. I told her to take it to Toyota Center in West Columbia, S.C. I told her to have them call me at work before they did any work. The service writer called me and told me they would have to evacuate the system, put in new freon to check for leaks AND charge an $85.00 diagnostic fee. I told him to send my wife and her car home asap.
Never ever take your beautiful car to these quick oil change places. If you care for your car if you worked hard to earn that car please i advise you again DO NOT take it here! They're a scam! They suck they are not technicians, they are not mechanics! They think they are but they're not. An oil change should be quick but these guys do a "full service" in less than 10 mins? Fuck that they will mess up your car i know believe me!
the only flush i would not do is the transmission flush. everything else in my opinion can be RECOMMENDED. engine flush done in a well kept engine will do no harm. engine flush on a worn engine with lots of deposits can harm the engine. injector cleaning additives are no problem either, i like how this guy at 6:10 speaking for honda can say no, don't put an injector cleaning additive but right after he says that good quality fuel already has detergents in it. there is nothing wrong with using fuel injector cleaning additives. at the end of the day these guys most likely get paid on commission and will say whatever gets the consumer to buy extra stuff while they are there. just stick with manufacturer recommendations because those guys should have ran extensive tests to recommend something and do service on vehicles on time.
Years ago my mom had an issue with jiffy lube. Went in for an oil change and by the time we got home we had no oil at all because they didn't even put the drain plug in and drained the oil and charged us for new oil and by the time we got home we realized the car didn't have any oil!! Since then the car burned a lot of oil! It definitely damaged something.
im an ASE master technician of 28 years. I don't know everything BUT!! injector flushes really don't do anything and engine flushes break up sludge in the engine and sends it throughout. If your engine is slugged up and dirty on the inside it will fail anyway. Change your oil. Transmission flushes, however are very important as fluid darkens and oxidizes. I've been doing them for 25 years without fail. My 1997 Toyota T100 was done at 332,000 miles after I bought it and got it running. my Ford ranger was done at 190,000 Being fair with the individual car or truck and keeping it chanced is VERY necessary
People you do NOT need engine flushes. It can dislodge sludge and clog the vital oil passageways, starving vital parts of oil. It is your oil's job to keep the engine clean and it does a great job if changed on time. And you don't necessarily need to change your oil every 3,000 miles either!!
I worked for this company for over 9 years I started as a tech in a shop and was promoted to a field trainer for 6 of those years and believe me this is not an isolated incident. You would be amazed at how many times this happened because employees are more worried about sales and money then doing the basics like they should be doing. Leaving this company was the best thing I ever did.
Up-selling scammers. The Jippy Lube in my neighborhood recently installed a huge sign with LED lights that displays their services and gives you the temperature and weather in an animated display. They sure didn't pay for that sign by doing oil changes only. Learn to do your own oil changes, coolant flushes and all the basic stuff. I don't like the fact that quickie lube places never let the oil drain out long enough. I let my oil drain for about 20 min. before reinstalling the plug.
I used them once for oil change. The mechanic did a damage to the engine and after it started to leak oil. I took to my friend's service and we found a mark of a flat head screwdriver on the seal.
I've been scammed by a Quick-lube but caught it before leaving the parking lot. They charged me for an oil & filter change but never touched the filter. They left the factory/dealership one on there and when I pointed it out, they were just going to change it. I made them drain the whole system & stood there while they changed it properly.
Jeffy Lupe tech's make money off of commission. Your owner's manual tells you what your car needs. No matter what nonsense they tell you. Study the maintenance guide in the manual.
the problem with the engine flush is there probably putting it in the new oil and not the old so it constantly makes the oil thinner. Thus making lubrication not possible
I worked at a Pennzoil 15 min Lube. 1. Don't get the Transmission flush, the "PAN DROP WITH FILTER" is fine. 2. Don't get the engine flush EVER, we didnt even have them. 3. The Coolant Flush should be done, but have them check it right in front of you with the sampler gauge. 4. The Fuel injection cleaning using a Vac port down stream of the MAP sensor is fine done right. Just get your oil changed on time, and pay attention to your maintenance and you will be fine, just learn a little.
#1. If you change your oil every 3-5k, there is NO NEED for an engine flush. #2. The fuel induction cleaning has nothing to do with the fuel injectors. It just cleans the throttle body, valves, and ports. #3. You can do transmissions flushes with a machine, what you can't do is use a "power flush" machine. That will break grime and sludge apart and send it through the transmission. Most machines use the pump from the transmission to circulate the fluid through.
You are NEVER EVER suppose to have your transmission fluids touched. EVER! Are you seriously gonna have a high school drop out who's probably high on marijuana touch the sensitive fluids on your engine or transmission?
+Chthonian121 Since when? You're not supposed to flush them generally, but dropping the pan and changing the filter and replenishing the fluid that comes out, yes.
That's true except for the regular transmission service, where your transmission fluid and filter on auto transmissions. Every auto transmission has to have a fluid and filter change. If you don't, your gears will wear out and the filter will become clogged and the gears will not have the pressure to shift. But fluid and filter change is all a transmission service consists of. All of the other stuff that Jiffy Lube does with that high pressure machine will destroy a transmission.
I heard a story of a local JL calling a local foreign car mechanic what to do when you find coolant coming out of both exhaust pipes. Great place with skilled techs.
I changed my oil 🪔🛢️. Regularly 300,000 mile ok good. I changed my value cover gasket engine looks like new. Any 🚗🚗 follow up check your Oil and change it. Don't ran Oil dry
don't go to jiffy lube sears firestone etc.. for any repairs. they are too expensive. you should get a ob2 scanner. and get your a honest mechanic. know your engines problems before you see a mechanic.
Jeffrey lube horrible. No one should ever change their oil in that place. First of all it's expensive and they do work terrible. They had changed my vw Jetta oil changed one time and I had terrible oil leak after that. I went back to them a week later, They just filled it up but still I had oil leak issues and I went back again they lied to me that there's no leak anymore when I had lead. I had to go to a different place to fix it. They said they never changed my gasket and tried to fixed it by over tight my drain plug which made it worse. So the other place changed my gasket and drain plug and I had no leaks. Do not go to change your oil in Jeffy lube guys
An underlying problem with quick lube's is not only that idiots work in them, but that there's no presence of any techs. This is why a dealership with a fast/express lube service is the same as a quick lube, but at least you have actual seasoned techs usually in the vicinity of you. Sure you get some techs that try to upsell everything, the ones that say you need brakes when they are at 80%, but most techs don't upsell too much, or only if it is actually needed.
As the owner of a shop (i am ASE and Chrysler Certified.) I DO recommend Top end cleanings (it cleans the valves, piston crowns and combustion chambers among others) and SOMETIMES oil flushes where you add product to clean gunk and sludge from the internal passages. BUT NEVER EVER GET A TRANSMISSION FLUSH!!! THEY ARE DESTRUCTIVE AS HELL.. not going to explain why but all you need is a good quality trans fluid and filter and then change it! (if vehicle is older also adjust the bands) THAT IS IT! NOTHING MORE OR LESS
the only thing you should do to your car are: oil changes every 5000-8000 miles, tire rotations, spark plug change/tune up, brake changes, and timing belt/chain replacement as well. you can also drain your radiator, and refill with fresh coolamt. Stuff like engine flushes and as ent drive belt replacemt if necessary transmission flushes are not recommended. You can do a transmission flush, and if you're going to do it, you should do it before 80, 000 miles.
Screw Jiffy Lube went 1 time for an oil change at the Garland TX location after they first opened now I have an issue with my wheel bearings and an oil pan leak should of just stayed with my mechanic friend.
I use to work at an EZ-Lube 12 yrs ago, the cleaners and flushes are Commission for Upper bay techs. So was Pushing the synthetic Oil. Also they would sell flushes and not do them, I remember they sold a rear Differential fluid swap and the ran down and told me not to do it because they dont have the additive, and they charged the customer anyway. also another person accidentally put 4 gallons of oil in a Mini Van, It Came back smoking and dripping oil everywhere. I quit after 6 months. its bad.
engine flush - a no no injector - its ok transmission - needs it if recommended... other than just replace filter then drain and fill best way to engine flush is use a regular oil then drain and fill every 500kms 3 times..
I worked in an independent auto parts store down the road from a jiffy lube. They would send people to buy oil filters etc from us to bring back to the jiffy lube just to change their oil for a high price. We heard stories from customers who said the jiffy lube techs (who were mostly kids with riced out hondas/nissans) who said they forgot to put fill plugs back on all the time.
Long time ago I used to take my Toyota to jiffy lube... A guy told me I needed engine flush and I asked him how much it would cost, he relied "do you want jiffy lubes price or my price?" I always take my car to the dealer now. Yeah it's a big more costly if you want something repaired but I know it's done right.. Also buy the life time oil change, pay the extra few hundred bucks while you're buying the car because it's worth it...
You're better off going to a mom n pop's shop, than to these profit driven corporations. The little shop at least has more incentive to keep you around
Holden don't recommend doing one either as they say additives are a waste of money, mine has a Chevy LS1, I'm the 3rd owner & not sure how the previous owners treated it,since I changed an oil pan it developed a lifter noise which is only intermittent at different temperatures (when the ambient temperature is cooler). I was going to flush the engine next oil change to free up some vanish & put some more Liqui-Moly tappet noise stop in again to save pulling the motor part which cost more money.
the transmission fluid doesn't need to be flush it's really bad, but the transmission fluid needs to be replace every 30k miles its really healthy and important to keep the components clean, do no flush it, just open the plug or cover and drained it, use a genuine transmission fluid from the manufacturer.
A word of advice to all consumers. before you take your car for any of these national chain shops, mark a scratch on the oil filter. most of these oil change spots change your oil but not the filter.
although engine flushes are not recommended by the manufacturer.... it should only be done on direct injection engines and older engines with bad valve ticking. engines need only need oil change. transmission flushes are not recommended for very old transmissions because they actually can completely clog up the transmission valve body. but under scheduled maintenance transmission flush helps with long term life of the transmission. radiator flush is always good to replace burnt out coolant.
This reminds me of the chain brake shop that was ripping people off years ago. I do not remember their name, but one of the unwritten mottoes they said they had was, "Paint it black, put it back. Paint it blue, sell it new." My brother-in-law, who has an independent front end and brake shop, was repairing this chain shops work a lot. He was sorry to see them go out of business, he made money off there crap work. I guess it is still buyer beware out there, folks.
I can take my honda civic to the dealer for an oil change for 35 bucks or less and know its done right no idea why someone would use a place like this.
The documents they show dont show the honda letterhead and they do not have a tsb number listed on them. Also in doing services like this you are prolonging the life of your vehicle as well as doing other preventive maintenance. That orange sentra was riced out and most likely abused. There is no way to tell how often he red lined or raced his vehicle causing extreme heat to expand his seals causing them to fail.
I have a friend who works and Jiffy Lube. At the end of the year they had an extra 55 barrels of oil....from oil on cars they never replaced and just let the people pay and leave.
It is clear as a bell that these shops are scamming people, but to be fair, the transmission flushing machine they are using is the same one that a dealership uses. The problem is, these shops don't know how to use the machine properly. If you are having your transmission serviced, that's what you want, a service. All fluid and filter (if it calls for a filter) removed and replaced with new according to the make and model vehicle specifications. As an example, Honda calls for a specific fluid that is engineered for their vehicles, and you can only get it from a Honda dealership which is higher in price. What it seems to be, Jiffy and EZ Lube is only removing part of the fluid in the transmission (which could only be a few quarts), and replacing it with new fluid that is NOT recommended by the manufacture. They are most likely adding some kind of generic additive to increase the service charge. This is the cause of the transmission failures. When you get a transmission service, you want ALL the old fluid removed, and replaced with new according to specifications; also as I indicated, a new filter if it is called for. I will also add this, NEVER flush your engine. If you are having a sludge problem, start using a top self Synthetic Motor Oil like Amsoil, Royal Purple or Mobile 1 Gold. or start changing your oil as per specifications. Sludge problems accrue when you don't change your oil per engineering specifications. I highly recommend you use a top self synthetic and a top self oil filter. FYI, Frame is NOT a quality top self filter. The above motor oil companies also manufacture top quality filters; WIX is also top, and is made to Amsoil specifications. Its cheaper on the pocket in the long run.
whether you've had problems or not, no manufacturer requires nor recommends engine flushes. the machines suck things out that shouldn't be sucked out, and TONS of cars that get engine flushes break down just weeks later due to the exact engine flush. when channel 4 news contacted some manufacturers like honda, nissan, etc., the manufacturers said never to perform these tasks
Hondas/Acuras don't require engine flushes sure. The transmissions on those vehicles require drain and fills. That transmission fluid just gets soo black after awhile. Vehicles do require maintenance you know.
actually a transmission flush is good for your car! especially for hondas, notorious to have transmission slipping, due to burnt thick oil clogging the shift solenoid and clutch plates
But you don't flush it with a machine. On my V6 2007Honda Accord automatic, I personally drained the old transmission fluid, installed a new crush washer. Torqued the bolt to spec and filled the transmission with new Castrol Automatic Transmission Fluid that met Honda's specifications. The car ran like new after that. I would never use any chemical flushes for the engine nor the transmission. You never get 100 percent of the oil when you change the oil. Therefore, you would never get 100 percent of the flushing agents when you do a chemical flush. So it would continue to circulate in the motor and wear out the new oil that was put in the engine.
My Nissan NX 2000 was getting hard starting. The Dealer said I needed a fuel injection service. Told him to go ahead and do it, but if it didn't cure the problem I wouldn't pay for it. They didn't do the service. Eventually it was traced to a bad idle solenoid. Even dealers scam the public.
There are ways to avoid this: 1. Pay more and have the dealer do it--Yes it is the costliest option but it will be cheaper in the long run. 2. Have a small independent shop do it--As one person pointed out, due to the fact they are a small business, they count on repeat business and cannot afford to screw up 3. Learn to do it yourself--plenty of RUclips videos on how to do all manners of maintenance these days, even without lifts. One cannot be scammed if one does the work himself.
Things like this always piss me off. People trust mechanics or any other person who do services the average person has no clue about and they rip them off to make a quick buck. Hell having known people in the industry some of these places use paint thinner for the engine and injector cleaning. Then they wonder why the engine seized up.
I was never impressed with Jiffy Lube, I remember I went once while at University (so I was young) and I asked how much for an oil change and the guy said $60. I actually laughed at him and his come back was "we also vacuum the vehicle" I just said "I don't want you to vacuum I just want and oil change". A typical oil change at that point was $20 at the dealer so $60 was just nuts. Nowadays I do my own stuff...F dealers.
im taking auto tech and ive never been told anything about engine flushes but ive been told fuel injector cleaners actually help....they open up the fuel injectors wider and clean them...i dont think ppl that dont know anything about this topicshould be speaking on it...and by that i mean reporters and what not...
They're right about the engine flush. The only time you do the engine flush is after changing a cylinder head to clean out coolant that dripped from the head into the engine oil. However, the injector service will not hurt and its usually cheap so who cares if they're selling them?
@justjv562 Exactly. We're even taught in school for automotive service, about how to clean fuel injectors through an injector cleaner with solvents. If done properly, no damage should be done. Biggest concern would be damaging the catalytic converter. Again, this service CAN go wrong/damage parts but if done correctly, it will do nothing more than clean out carbon on your injectors. As for the oil flush...can't really prove it works but I'd stay away from it.
......aaand this is why you do it yourself. Any person can do it with the guides on the internet today, even if you have never turned a wrench in your life.
FriendlyFireGaming it's possible but most of the time there are things that should be left to a shop. At oreilly where I work at. We end up getting the same people coming back multiple trips because although they saw a video or read the instructions, they lack the common sense and critical thinking to plan ahead for the job and have the adequate resources. I get people who live in apartments where most auto work is not allowed. Some places are the exception. work on their daily and when they try to service something simple, they break something else by either incompetence or just bad luck and they don't know what to do next. I feel professional mechanics should have the necessary tools ready to them and know how to deal with the unexpected. This is why I feel more people should be encouraged to take auto shop. In high school, college or an night school class like ROP.
Give me a break. I was in one of these fast lube places the other day and they were recommending engine flushes. I asked him how many times a year did he recommend a person take an enema to clean themselves out. I put the hood of the car down and went to my local gas station.
what injectors went bad after cleaning them? most cars have fuel filters, filters that need to be replaced what transmissions went bad after flushing them, oh yea the automatic ones but they dont talk about trans flushes they end up just saying "it ruins cars" honda wants you to use ALL their own fluids. honda also wants over $300 for an oem o2 sensor when its $70 at autozone
everyhwere is the same; chain shops, dealers, private shops: they all try to sell. the difference are the mechanics, always try to find a shop where they actually care about the cars. the flush and injection cleaner does work, only if done at the right mileages. you cant run a car for 10k miles without an oil change and the expect a motor flush to help. customers are at fault along with the mechanics.
Some of the people that work at these "shops" are textbook "technicians" who don't know shit about actually working on cars. Because if you really stop and think about it, these guys can't perform any major repairs to your vehicle.
Gilbert Arciniega You're over qualified. I worked at Jiffy for a month and have decent amount of knowledge about cars, but most of these guys don't know shit.
The Jiffy Lube I work at doesnt cheat, you get what you came in for and if theres any thing we find wrong with your vehicle we take the customerout into the bay to show them, its part of our signature oil change where we check and fill all majoy components and inspect brake lines and tires and vaccum and clean exteria windows
Jiffy lube is the worst place to take your car for anything , untrained kids for the most part work there !! they are such a joke , I wouldn't let you change a windshield wiper !!
+Steve Cea well that's cool but every store is different. that's the problem with lube businesses or any businesses it's all about reputation one store can be in agree dishonest and rude and deceiving but another could be really nice caring clean and honest. just depends on the manager
you cant necessarily blame the companies. The people should be ultimately held responsible. They are the experts and should be punished if they recommend services that are not needed
if the crap in your engine is just sat there its doing no harm. loosen and flush it and it will bed in on your white metal bearings as it goes through your engine and wear quite quickly
Take it from a man who has been an auto tech for 30 years. NEVER get your engine or transmission flushed. It's your car do as you wish. But I assure you this WILL destroy a good engine or transmission.
People really need to stop taking the cars to chains. I have seen these flushes mess up cars. Do it right the first time and take your car some were were the technicians have more than a week training.
Do they offer blinker fluid change? Cause my lights are acting up!
Changed mine a while back now it's blinking good.
Jiffy offers blinker flush!! Its a miracle mines blink so smooth now and I only paid 2000

Basically if keep up with oil changes , you wont need a flush , as there wont be any gunk build up
most of us know that your car is the second major investment in your life. First being a house.

This is excellent journalism. Why can't all news be like this?
Years ago my mom had an issue with jiffy lube. Went in for an oil change and by the time we got home we had no oil at all because they didn't even put the drain plug in and drained the oil and charged us for new oil and by the time we got home we realized the car didn't have any oil!! Since then the car burned a lot of oil! It definitely damaged something.
im an ASE master technician of 28 years. I don't know everything
BUT!!
injector flushes really don't do anything and engine flushes break up sludge in the engine and sends it throughout.
If your engine is slugged up and dirty on the inside it will fail anyway.
Change your oil.
Transmission flushes, however are very important as fluid darkens and oxidizes. I've been doing them for 25 years without fail. My 1997 Toyota T100 was done at 332,000 miles after I bought it and got it running. my Ford ranger was done at 190,000
Being fair with the individual car or truck and keeping it chanced is VERY necessary
People you do NOT need engine flushes. It can dislodge sludge and clog the vital oil passageways, starving vital parts of oil. It is your oil's job to keep the engine clean and it does a great job if changed on time. And you don't necessarily need to change your oil every 3,000 miles either!!
On some cars it is recommended an engine flush. Like kias and or Hyundai’s. It is better to flush it with atf and then service it with the right oil
5:22 holy smokes, they terminated him ? Did they make Arnold do it ?
Regular oil changes mean you don't need to flush.
I used to work for EZ Lube, my store in south orange county wasn't bad and didn't scam people. Im so glad that I dont work for them anymore
the problem with the engine flush is there probably putting it in the new oil and not the old so it constantly makes the oil thinner.
Dad once got a trans service at an ez lube, trans was shot after. They refused to pay to fix, we sued and won. Theyre out of business now.
Did he get a flush?
Chthonian121 I'm high all the time and never fucked someone's car up
I heard a story of a local JL calling a local foreign car mechanic what to do when you find coolant coming out of both exhaust pipes.
Great place with skilled techs.
There is NO WAY I would EVER go to one of them places...
6:22 - " He went and hid behind a filing cabinet." 😂😂😂
The assistant D.A. is kind of hot.
And if you're in Canada avoid Mr. Lube at all costs.
Truth, Justice, OR the American Way!
These guys are just trying to survive making minimum wages. Go after the owners of the business.
NOTHING MORE OR LESS
what about just a drain and fill? on the trans
@@klintridener4870 I do a drain and fill on my cars every year, and a filter/gasket change every 3-4 years
the only thing you should do to your car are: oil changes every 5000-8000 miles, tire rotations, spark plug change/tune up, brake changes, and timing belt/chain replacement as well. you can also drain your radiator, and refill with fresh coolamt.
I quit after 6 months. its bad.
engine flush - a no no
injector - its ok
transmission - needs it if recommended... other than just replace filter then drain and fill
best way to engine flush is use a regular oil then drain and fill every 500kms 3 times..
A guy told me I needed engine flush and I asked him how much it would cost, he relied "do you want jiffy lubes price or my price?"
I always take my car to the dealer now.
Thank you so much for shining the light on these roaches.
"NOTE" jiffy lube does not employ (ASE) certified auto technicians.
I was going to flush the engine next oil change to free up some vanish & put some more Liqui-Moly tappet noise stop in again to save pulling the motor part which cost more money.
fuel injection cleaning is a good thing and should be done ever 15,000 especially if u have direct injection like kia and hyundai
hahahaha n you're still tryna upsell here on youtube
How does the reporter in the black suit look tall and short at the same time
when in doubt, read your car's MANUALLLL
the transmission fluid doesn't need to be flush it's really bad, but the transmission fluid needs to be replace every 30k miles its really healthy and important to keep the components clean, do no flush it, just open the plug or cover and drained it, use a genuine transmission fluid from the manufacturer.
They keep talking about the Honda, but keep showing a Jeep 4.0 motor?
A quick oil change place overfills my friend's engine. They tell her "That's the amount of oil recommended for her car".
There are ways to avoid this:
1. Pay more and have the dealer do it--Yes it is the costliest option but it will be cheaper in the long run.
2. Have a small independent shop do it--As one person pointed out, due to the fact they are a small business, they count on repeat business and cannot afford to screw up
I should say I'm not impressed with ANY oil change places. Just not worth the headache.
modette99 its $39.99 plus tax now ;)
Is that Synthetic with a K&N oil filter ;-) I mean $40 or less is what I pay to do my own oil change.
What's an engine flush?
hiding behind the file cabinet is recommended by the manufacturer
if you do a transmission flush too late, the transmission will seize and the car won't move
you realize when the dealerships tell you not to do it they only say it cause they want you to do it at the dealership
im taking auto tech and ive never been told anything about engine flushes but ive been told fuel injector cleaners actually help....they open up the fuel injectors wider and clean them...i dont think ppl that dont know anything about this topicshould be speaking on it...and by that i mean reporters and what not...
I wonder if the technicians even really know those processes are bad themselves
The techs should have answered to the news reporter " im just going by jiffy lube EZlube policy" to cover themselves.
Give me a break. I was in one of these fast lube places the other day and they were recommending engine flushes. I asked him how many times a year did he recommend a person take an enema to clean themselves out. I put the hood of the car down and went to my local gas station.
what injectors went bad after cleaning them?
most cars have fuel filters, filters that need to be replaced
what transmissions went bad after flushing them, oh yea the automatic ones but they dont talk about trans flushes they end up just saying "it ruins cars"
honda wants you to use ALL their own fluids. honda also wants over $300 for an oem o2 sensor when its $70 at autozone
everyhwere is the same; chain shops, dealers, private shops: they all try to sell. the difference are the mechanics, always try to find a shop where they actually care about the cars. the flush and injection cleaner does work, only if done at the right mileages. you cant run a car for 10k miles without an oil change and the expect a motor flush to help. customers are at fault along with the mechanics.
6:23 That one employee hid behind a filing cabinet...
Some of the people that work at these "shops" are textbook "technicians" who don't know shit about actually working on cars. Because if you really stop and think about it, these guys can't perform any major repairs to your vehicle.
And then they don't hire me.... who is 25 years experienced
Yeah if they weren't there they'd be at McDonald's.
Gilbert Arciniega
You're over qualified. I worked at Jiffy for a month and have decent amount of knowledge about cars, but most of these guys don't know shit.
when I worked for these ppl I never heard of them doing engine flushes only radiator flushes.
"Hide behind a filing cabinet" ROFL. 06:24.
These guys area bunch of scum bags.
196,500 miles and still strong. Volvo 850 GLT :D
Started at 000,000 now we here: 198,500 Bonnie the volvo is bulletproof.
+Steve Cea ok cool I'm glad you expressed your opinion bc if your opinion was true jiffy lube would've gone outta buisness
+Bad Drivers In Cedar Rapids I've seen many go out of business !! your company is a joke !!!
+Steve Cea well that's cool but every store is different. that's the problem with lube businesses or any businesses it's all about reputation one store can be in agree dishonest and rude and deceiving but another could be really nice caring clean and honest. just depends on the manager
+Steve Cea my store will fire any employee that doesn't do there job correctly and honestlt
you cant necessarily blame the companies.
