I know this was essentially supposed to be humorous, but I think it's really really smart. Everything gets weird rapidly, but it even *sounds* weirder when you have to explain what this life is like out loud.
When she said “the wildfires are gonna be the defining moment of 2020” I laughed pretty hard Edit: ok I only just read through replies, yeah it would be a different story if you’re in Australia and you lost your home in the fires, and then suddenly you’re told to self-isolate...in your home. Yikes. Praying for you guys. It’s not much but it’s all I have to offer
I imagine if you’re an Australian who had a family member burn alive or who lost their home, the wildfires still seem like a petty fucking big deal! It’s tricky to self isolate when your house is a pile of ash.

ironically, covid was mostly FANTASTIC for me, as a Street Musician every day and night in New England. zillions of strangers thanked me profusely for being a bright light in a world of grey, and going out every day and playing my artsy musics kept me from hanging myself. that it cheered so many strangers up (plus when I'm looping i can get ppl to start DANCING in public!) was a huge bonus! @@DramaQueenMalena What are you talking about? I'm not sure what being Canadian has to do with it, or what exactly your comment is referring to. In March I was laid off of my 2nd job (non essential) so I have 1/2 the income. I can't afford to pay all my bills, but The Canadian UnEmployment insurance has strict application criteria. You can't work less than a 7 day stretch. But I have a 5 day stretch as my 2nd job falls on the weekday and my essential job is on the weekend. *No unemployment insurance money for me!* I check the Canadian/covid relief BS site and they have strict criteria too. If you make more than $1,000 Canadian dollars in one month you don’t qualify. You have to make less in one month. Ah, but I make a bit more than $1,000 CAD per month on my weekend job. So, no Canadian/covid Emergency Relief for me! But wait, there’s more…. I don’t qualify for either supplements, but that doesn't change the fact that I NOW have half the income of what I make a month. I have bills to pay based on my full income. I guess the visa card is going to make a killing off interest for the next few years. At this point I’m just grateful to have a visa and will soon have to check out the local food banks for assistance. Let’s hope there’s no criteria at the food banks! What were you saying about Canada again? Please elaborate? Cause I’m having trouble breathing and that’s not from any CV19 padded diagnostic numbers produced by W.H.O./U.N., that’s actually because the lockdown is based on error numbers and inspite of wrong numbers projected that are less than the common flu they STILL haven’t lifted the lockdown. I remember how the Australian bushfires came just about evacuation distance to me and my family, but even by mid 2020 I had forgotten mainly about them
Salem Oregon came with a long walk and a strong gust of wind of burning down, I was three miles from the fire...a week later, totally forgotten I mean, the sky looked like Mars for a week, but it was not the biggest thing to happen that year.
I remember when this first came out and how accurately it captured the stunned feelings we had in March when our world turned upside down overnight. Now that this has been our reality for eight months, what was once weird feels normal, and it’s hard to remember what February felt like.
I grew a garden and spend more time with my parents than I ever had in the past 3 years. It felt like a vacation when working from home was first introduced. Now I can’t imagine a world without masks. Imagine what a year from today will be like!?!?
Right now, I can't go out without thinking "there's too many people", and there isn't that many. 😂 I don't know if I have get used to lockdown, but I know for sure it will be weird once we can go out normally again, when everything's over.
Sees to be a recurring theme. If there is any consolation whatsoever, it's that everyone's dialed in to the elections right now, and _that's a crazy_ we can handle. But either way, November is gonna sting.

This pandemic stuff has been on my mind so much that I literally forgot about the bushfires... AND I HAD TO EVACUATE MY TOWN BECAUSE OF THEM! HOW DID I FORGET THAT!?
Tbf this video is an American perspective. I'd have to check the numbers but the bushfires seem to have had a bigger impact on people's lives in Australia than the pandemic will. Recession hurts, but it probably doesn't cause as much death and destruction as fires going on for months right at your doorstep. I'm in Europe, so the pandemic hit hard here, but the consequences of this event, compared to having everything burning around me, don't seem so serious. I was lucky not to have met anyone who died from COVID-19, and even though I'm not working yet it seems I have to just wait about a month or so before life starts going back to "quasi normal", so maybe that's why the bushfires still seem much more serious.
Man I remember first watching this video last year. I cant believe how much time has passed. Hope you continue to do this every year from now on because as much as I hate to admit it, I'm sure we are going to be in for a rough few decades as a planet.

*No unemployment insurance money for me!*
I check the Canadian/covid relief BS site and they have strict criteria too.

I can’t stop laughing too.Oh,the irony...
i freakin started laughing too xD
argh, that got me too, couldn't help laughing as well :D
i laugh they same way simultaneously with her..... oh travelling.....
Yeah, had me genuinely laughing out loud.
In exactly the same slightly-manic "I must laugh or I'll start crying" way as in the video.
This series is epic and should be used 10 years from now to tell people about the pandemic.
I completely forgot that the Australian wild fires were a thing.
Yeah, we didn't.
Don't forget Amazon fires
same
Dude I live in Australia and I forgot they were a thing. Last week I was driving through the burnt forest and I was like "oh yeah"
coolguy700able right?
I think it's the casual "oh you won't be working" that really captures the post Corona moment.
It's the most critical personal matter, and it's like, don't even think
about having a job. (just got laid-off the 24th of April myself)
So true. Who would have ever thought you would be told you can’t go to work. Would sound insane back in January.
I got laid off like in the end of march. Wow crazy to think of everything that has happened. This year is just insane.
NetMage11 what do you do for “not really work”?
Diego Lievanos bet against the market and make millions on those negative oil puts
This pandemic stuff has been on my mind so much that I literally forgot about the bushfires...
AND I HAD TO EVACUATE MY TOWN BECAUSE OF THEM! HOW DID I FORGET THAT!?
Wow man.
predictive programming will do that to you
Tbf this video is an American perspective.
THE SADDEST PART IS THAT IT'S A LIE
@@abor6972 What is a lie?
Man I remember first watching this video last year. I cant believe how much time has passed. Hope you continue to do this every year from now on because as much as I hate to admit it, I'm sure we are going to be in for a rough few decades as a planet.
